65skylark Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 So, today being Mother's Day, my wife decided she wanted us to go fishing. Her parents had been camped at Rock Creek near Mt. Hood for the last few days so we made the two hour drive and met up with them for our first fishing trip of the year. After a fun day of fishing we stopped by Timberline Lodge to get some dinner and look around. So, enough talk, onto the pictures. We had a great day. Thanks for reading! The view from our table. The whole inside of the lodge has these massive log beams. Seating around the third floor loft type thingy. The Blue Ox was closed so we went upstairs to the Ram's Head. Some general info. The inside they did not use in the movie however. Lots of wood and stone. Enter if you dare. Still a lot of snow up here but the ski lifts have closed for the season. Timberline Lodge. If this building looks familiar it may be because this is the lodge where Jack Nicolson takes his family in "The Shining". Getting closer. Mt. Hood comes into view on our way to Timberline. One last shot before heading to Timberline Lodge. Since it is Mother's Day, I'll through in a picture of my wife and her mom. Fishings over, now it's time to play in the freezing cold water. ..................? Yummy! Now for the fun part. Gutting the fish. My daughter Ellie and ner friend Malory hold up one stringer of fish. About five minutes out on the water we bring in the first of 15 fish we caught in less than two hours. Ok, enough messing around, lets go fishing. Ellie shows us the frog whe caught. My son, Chad, demonstrating proper rock skipping technique. Another view in the other direction. Rock Creek Reservoir with the top of Mt. Hood peeking over the hills in the distance.
Bubba83 Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Wait, what? Your wife wanted to go fishing? Was there a shopping center near the lake? I've never heard of a woman wanting to go fishing before! Nice pictures! Looks like your family had a nice time there, I like Mt. Hood, though it has been a while since I have been there.
sandi Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Wait, what? Your wife wanted to go fishing? Was there a shopping center near the lake? I've never heard of a woman wanting to go fishing before! Wife here: I grew up camping-fishing, hunting, snow and water skiing, ect..- and ever since Justin became a Coaster Geek we haven't spent alot of time doing any of it. I miss it alot. I even enjoyed digging for the worms and breaking them in half. I could have done without the rowing though.(I did a very bad job of it). Sandi "can remember how to catch fish but forgot how to gut them" Saxe
Louise Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 ^ Sandi, the resemblance between you and your mother is amazing! Glad you guys all had fun! I can't believe I opened this thread even with the "fish heads and guts" warning, blach. That's one of a few things I'm girly about, there's no way I want to be near any of that stuff. Fishing itself I enjoy though! And the views of the water and mountain are just beautiful. I think I almost wet myself when I saw that building!
arrowfanman Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Wow...thank's for the PTR. I try and get up to Oregon every year, and Justin and Sandi--this PTR was like a brochure for the place! LOL. Nice to see you guys taking advantage of the natural beauty. -Jahan
mcjaco Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 I saw this and thought, "Fish heads, fish heads. Little tiny fish heads."
kennywood!007 Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Great photos, that fish head pic made me laugh so hard.
