TexTitan01 Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 So... it was the night of my prom, and I told my mother I needed to go somehwere where I wouldnt mope about not going. She told me that there were infact 3 parks within a 2 hour drive of my house: Hersheypark, Kings Dominion, and Six Flags America. I had been to the former 2, so I thought SFA would be the best one to go to. The day started off rainy and not like a day to goto a themepark. But as we got closer to DC the rain started to wither away. I got to the park @ around 2:30, bought my ticket, and went inside. On my way inside the park I was asked if I wanted to take advantage of FREE SEASON PASS day. However, the line for processing was out the door, so I decided to wait until closing to claim my goodies. Anyways onto the pics! And now I end this trip report in true TPR fashion, thanks for reading! And incase you didnt believe me about the free season pass, KISS IT! On the way out there was a slew of ride-ops that came together and did a show for people at closing, alot of people started to get into the dance with them too! SFA, I approve of your reforms! In the end, all the cars of the second train of Superman were reunited, and they lived happily ever after Batwing gets the dorky face of approval, and I approve! Batwing @ sunset, complete with a sexy shilouette "woosh" goes the Batwing train..."OH $HIT!! OH $HIT!!!!" go the riders on said train Batwing, through the queue cover! but it was actually really good! AND smooth as a babys bottom! Now, having just come off of Two-Face, AND riding a lovely Vekoma SLC for the first time earlier today, I wasnt expecting much from this that poor man is in for a hell of a headache tomorrow! How's it goin Derek? ow...ow...ow...ow... Oh boy....more painful Vekoma credits Superman gets the Tex thumbs up! Superman...through Superman! and an unfocused fence! Airtime>prom Obligatory Lift hill shot Unfortunately, as with the rest of the rides (except for the woodies), there was 1 train operation on Superman because it was missing half itself...:'( Off in the distance, riders are about to get a Airtime and Bologna sandwich of fun! Yummy bunny hill goodness...BOO TRIM BRAKES SUPERMAN Umm...can you say...RIPOFF? Now, for what everyone has been waiting for.... One more set of Wild One lore! Wild One carriers riders into the twilight, which made lighting horrible for this shot! The real Slim-shady Wild One train Wild One...I mean...Giant Coaster lore! When good angles go bad, damn that handrail! Wild One, it all its deformed but unusually smooth drop splendor Wild One dominates the skyline from this point in the park, until you get behind it, then Superman says to Wild One: OWNED BIOOOOTCH!! This was the "new" Skull Mountain watercoaster, that wasnt even open! This is tweety, I wont him from one of those "guess your weight" games. He kept me company as I wandered the park alone...:'( I saw alot of these around the park, security guards and rideops even enforced them! wheee (the people on this car win the award for biggest screamers) I think I can get both Elissa and Lou all hot & bothered by this pic Another train of happy-ish (look @ the two in the front!) riders comes back to the station This was actually really fun, and it was smooth too. Right about then, after Mind Eraser & Roar...I needed somethin smooth and unabusive Jokers Jinx goes: "nyeheheheheh" New for the park was a Wii Hut, which often had a crowd outside (guy on the right is lovin an excuse to check himself out...lol) A couple of weeks ago today, a horde of Rabid California Monkeys stood at this very spot and took a picture similar to this one...creeeeepy Mind Eraser gets the Tex face of dissaproval, because I dissaprove of hang & bang SLCs A picture is worth a thousand words, but this one says only 3: hang and bang Another train of riders gets ready to plummet to their death... First credit of the season....ohh boy... They had a few more shows this year, including Desperate Horsethieves! Off in the distance, 2 of the 5 reasons I chose SFA over Hersheypark of Kings Dominion stand proudly You can see the (new?) waterpark from the front gate, and it looked verrrrry inviting however, it cleared up as we got closer to DC This TR shall start with a beautiful shot of my pride & joy (and transportation): Kiki the Green Monster!
Homer Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Great TR, Tex! Parks still do free season pass days? That seems like a very rare occurance these days.
carolinacaniac Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Great TR you have there. I am jelous that you got the Joker Credit as it still elludes me to this day. I take it you were not a big fan of Roar? I personally thought it is one of the best I have been on.
TexTitan01 Posted May 13, 2007 Author Posted May 13, 2007 I thought it was good, but it was just really rattly; and the PTCs dont usually do well on track that can take Millenium Flyers much better. Also, I had just ridden Mind Eraser, so I had that mindset going on.
Reon Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Great TR! It really gives me a preview of what I'm gonna see in a couple of weeks. I just hope Skull mountain is operating, that ride has been a mystery to me for AGES now..

Also, I had just ridden Mind Eraser, so I had that mindset going on. I don't think it really rattled more than any other woddie I have ridden (besides El Toro), but that could have just been my own perception, and maybe you rode in a row besides the front? The two rides I had on it at the TPR meet were in the front. Would be interesting to see how this ride would do with MF trains though, but I like it just fine the way it is.
kennywood!007 Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Nice PTR! The pictures were great, sucks about the one train operations though..
cfc Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 SFA is a pretty good park with some potential, I think. Wild One is a great woodie, and I liked Roar, Superman, Joker's Jinx, and Batwing quite a bit. The Skull Island sea coaster has been there for some time (under the name "Typhoon Lagoon Sea Coaster," I think). From what I understand, it never really worked, but here's to hoping. SFA started life as a water park, but it does look like they've added a number of new slides.
TexTitan01 Posted May 13, 2007 Author Posted May 13, 2007 ^ on our way to SFA, my mom was telling me how she worked for the contracting company that built the wave pool in the waterpark, and how she was like THE first person in it. She told me her boss let her and a few others in the day before it opened. I thought it was pretty cool
