Cedar Point in late August?

I'll be going to CP next week for my annual trip, but now that Maverick is going to be delayed, we are looking into another trip the last full week of August going into Labor Day Weekend.

 

Can anyone give me some advice as to how busy it is at that time of year? Are the schools back in yet? We are planning to go mid-week, the last full week of operation in hopes that it won't be that bad.

In past visits and during my "career" there, the 1st few opening weeks of May (during the week) , before school lets out it usually is pretty reasonable. The best way to find out about schools starting back up would be to check the local website for Sandusky or Erie County. As with any trip to CP, we always allowed ourselve 2 full days in the park because of the long waits for all of their rides. Not sure if you are a season pass holder or not, but if not get the family getaway guide on their website, calling 1 800 best fun, or at the customer service center at the front gate. It has some good coupons and what not in it. Hope this helps somewhat.....

I've found it to be either dead or packed the last week of august. Some of the area school systems actually go back that week, which could keep crowds a bit lighter.

Weekdays in the last week they are open in August (which becomes September) are pretty good for crowds, the Sunday before that week is not bad either. I went at this time in 2004 and 2005, and I rode everything as much as I wanted MF and TTD had empty rows in the loading bay on the quieter days.
