cprocks22
Hey R&E, and anyone else who looks at this! My family is planning a trip to Orlando (YAY) and i just wanted to get some advice. One thing i need to know is when to go (hey it rhymes!). Also i want to know what to do, i haven't been since i was 6 and i'm sure it is VERY different. Any advice is much appreciated! EDIT: I thought about it and was thinking about going in June, anybody who has been in June can you tell me how hot/crowded it is?
BarryH
What parks are you thinking of visiting? As for when to go, are you looking for low crowds or for special events?
cprocks22
Definetly all disney parks, both Universal parks and possibley Sea World. Since i have never been to Universal or Sea World, i would want low crowds as opposed to special events.
obeygiant
Well, if you're going in the summer you're definately going to get high crowds... But I would recommend Universal only because you have the ability to get fast passes (I recommend staying on property to get them).
BarryH
If you want low crowds, try these times: January (except for New Year's Day and holidays) 1st 3 weeks of May September (except for Labor Day) December before the 2 weeks of Christmas and New Year's) During September, the parks seem really deserted. Of course, hours are shorter (usually 9 am to 7 pm). As a toss-up between crowds and special events, try October. Crowds are pretty moderate, but you can also enjoy the Halloween events at Universal and Sea World. You can even go to Disney for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. I went to BGT once on a weekday in October and the park was pretty quiet. The longest line (15 minute wait) was for lunch!
saxman47
early november and early december are both good, as was mentioned has anybody been there during thanksgiving week? I know crowds will be higher than the surrounding weeks, but it's the only time my family can all get off work/school together. We'd arrive the saturday before so hopefully we can atleast get a few days before the big crowds roll in around thanksgiving......unless it will be really crowded early in the week too
cprocks22
Thanks for the advice, but due to restrictions we can only go over Christmas. We are planning on leaving Christmas day, and coming back on January 3rd. We are staying on property at both Disney and Universal (I know Universal offers a special line for resort guests) and I know how to take advantage of Fast Passes at Disney. But i could still use any advice you could give me. Thanks a lot!

I'm in the same boat, so I say, going when it's crowded is still better than not going at all!

Saecron
Unless, of course, the large crowds prevent you from getting your dueling dragons credit, and you fall into madness and despair from having been so close before your hope was viciously snatched away and dashed to pieces. You'll likely go into a major depressive episode, lose all contact with reality, and have nothing to live for but the prospect of the reaper's cold grasp that might someday bring you respite. ...other than that, no big problem. BarryH
If you're going during one of the busiest times of the year, remember to arrive right at opening at the parks. During the first few hours, you can get a lot done. Waits will be minimal. During the afternoon, you'll be elbow to elbow with other guests! The parks may open as early as 8 am. I know Universal opens their gates at 8 am during the two weeks of Christmas and New Year's. I went to Universal Studios one year and got into the parks at 8 am. The park was deserted! After 12 noon, the park was wall to wall with guests. It's hard to wake up at 7 am on your vacation, but if you do, you can avoid most of the crowds and do the popular stuff in the morning when the waits are short. eggzter
with regards to trip planning etc, I will be visiting Orlando area next June 2008. I would appreciate if anyone reading this has any info on what's best to do about buying tickets for the major parks. I have been told to pre purchase tickets before I leave the UK. my initial plans are to do Disney maybe on a 14 day pass, then visit universal for a couple of days somewhere in between. sea world for the kids I guess is a must and I would love to get to bush gardens possibly for a day or 2. after a bit of research Disney's ultimate 14 day pass and the 5 park universal pass look a good bet, but at around £800 or approx $1600 for 2 adults and 1 child would I be paying to much. thanks in advance and if anyone has any other general advice on where to go etc, places to eat, things to see. even advice on planning your day all info would be much appreciated. . Advice would still be GREATLY appreciated, anything regarding Fast Pass tricks to when to go on what rides would be great. Also anyone else going to be there around this time? We leave December 25th (no big Christmas for us this year, Oh well, were going to disney! ) and coming back on January 3rd. We'll be at Disney from the 25th to the 29th or 30th and at Universal Resort (IOA and US) from the 29th or 30th till the 3rd. I would love to meet some people form TPR! Hopefully I can get a shirt before then.
