Photo Report: Mr. Bush is in my city!!!

Well first of all Hi to all. Joel here reporting from first circle of security.

As you all may know Mr. George Bush is making a trip to south america and Mexico and he arrived yesterday night (monday 12) to Merida Yucatan Mexico, in other words: MY CITY!!!

Well I have mixed feelings about he beeing here. Im happy that my city was chosen to be the place where Mexican president and USA president are meeting, that sure is an honor. But Im really mad about all the thing they are making so the city is "secure" so he can be here.

Im not going to talk about the fact that a lot of people hate him about the war and stuff (myself included) , thats another isue. But the thing that is really anoying me is all the security things they are making.

- Of course we cant get anywhere near the hotel where he is staying. And beacuse that hotel is located in our main avenue they have closed it. So yeah the city is divided in 2 and traffic is getting mad in some streets.

- Lots of cops everywhere, not only mexican but american also. In civil clothes most of them.

- Limited cellphone service in some areas of the citys and they are even intercepting calls and text messages. Some of my friends have even received calls from the police

- And the most anoying and some times scary thing are all the helicopters fliying aover the city all the day. We hear them pass over us like every 10 min or so. And now, as im witting this, im at my college that is located downtown, just 5 blocks away from goverment palace. And because im inside the 5 km circle from the hotel where Bush is staying, we have more helicopter and police men near. Those helicopters fly so near to the ground it looks like they are going yo land on our heads.

Thank God hes leaving tomorrow, so Merida can get back no normal life.
