carolinacaniac
I know that the Joyland developers were looking into reopening Libertyland but wanted the Zippin Pippin to stay with the park. Since they have apparently backed out, does anyone know if the relocation to Carolina Crossroads is still on or still held up? Or has it just been cancelled all togeather? I am hoping it goes through, I was planning on going the day the ride opens!
coasterdude5
My guess is it has been cancelled. Any mention on the CC site (last time I checked) of Zippin Pippin had been removed. The entry on RCDB has also been removed.
spaceace12
http://www.memphisflyer.com/memphis/Content?oid=oid%3A27810 Zippin Pippin is to stay in Memphis, donated to Save Liberty Land. The people who bought it are going to build a replica and use one original train. The grassroots group-turned-nonprofit organization now wants to donate the historic roller coaster to the City of Memphis — if the city promises to preserve it and keep it on the Mid-South Fairgrounds. from another newspaper
Canobie Fan
the best part about this story - http://www.memphisflyer.com/memphis/Content?oid=oid%3A27810 is that they stole MY photo!

Shavethewhales
Awesome, so now we get two of them. I don't see why Carolina Crossroads wants a replica of that particular ride though. If they aren't going to use the original, they should build something completely new. I don't remember hearing that ZP was that great of a ride, was it? ECZenith
LOL, I can't believe they jacked your photo James! Take it as a compliment but I'm still surprised they didn't simply seek permission seeing how your info is right there in black and white.
carolinacaniac
I gotta admit that I am a bit bummed that it won't be THE Zippin Pippin, but at least we are still going to finally get a coaster here in Eastern North Carolina. I hope that the original won't go to waste, but we have seen how things have gone lately with parks/rides that peoplke try to keep open.
