Shavethewhales Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 I was just browsing CC's website to see if I could possibly hear tale on any new rides, and I found this boldy displayed at the top of this page CLICK HERE, "Two new family rides coming in 2007!". This sounds quite nice, I don't know what they mean by "family rides", but it's bound to be good coming from the Hershends. CC badly needs some new rides as one can "do" then entire park very quickly, and riding the Ozark Wildcat over and over can eventually get kinda old, however good it is. These two new rides could be quite small or pretty large, as the term "family" can mean a lot, so I'm excited. Even if they are mere children's rides, they will be a welcome addition to CC.
pgathriller Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Any new additions to any park is a good addition. Hopefully they will be larger scale family rides.
Jive Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 I might be wrong but aren't family rides different from kiddie rides???
goingcoasting Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 I can't wait to find out what they are. Hopefully they will be on the larger end of family rides
pgathriller Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 A response to Jive- I think it depends on what you classify your rides as. To me, a family ride can be a simple carasaul. As for upper scale family rides I would go for something like a HUSS Topple Tower. Some people even classify some thrill rides as family rides such as the HUSS Troika. A spinning mouse coaster can also fall under as a family ride. So right now I think it would be to hard to figure out what type of ride there getting as it can be almost anything.
Swoosh Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 One is a replacement for Chaos. I'm pretty sure Martha and Crystal said the other one was a kiddie ride. REMEMBER they stated that ALL of the rides in the Grand Expo were FAMILY rides. Mum is the word from the park right now, however most of the staff is on vacation as they have been going pretty much 6 days a week since Mid-March. Still waiting on dates for Media Day for GIANT Swing. However they gave a ball park guess for close to Opening Day.
Shavethewhales Posted January 3, 2007 Author Posted January 3, 2007 ^ Thanks for the info. Hmmmmmmmmm, A replacement for the Chaos would be nice, but by replacement do you mean that it will take it's old spot, or that it will fill the thrill ride gap it left? Wow, this could be pretty good. Btw, I'm still wondering as to why they took out the Chaos in the first place, I don't remember any operational problems that specific ride had... Didn't it have something to do with some reported restraint failures on the Chaos rides at some other parks? Ah, I miss it.
Swoosh Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 They did not go into detail on whether or not it would be a major thrill ride or not, but yes one will be located where Chaos was -- actually they were supposed to add a ride there last year but for some reason they had to cut that from budget. As far as why they removed it, the park is quote "not at liberty to discuss it at this time." However they did have to have it worked on there the season before it was removed.
