ComplexAudio99
After searching through the forum, I wasn't able to find anything about this show at DCA, except: www.laughingplace.com/News-ID504990.asp It actually looked like a pretty cool show, but I'm not such a fan of the cards part, but why was it taken out! I mean, it was no Fantasmic, but it was a way to get people in to the park at night. Too bad they couldn't figure out a way to do the show without closing Paradise Pier down for the night. Why was it given such bad reviews... Does anyone have any info of upcoming shows planned for DCA, or will DCA never have a nighttime show? Oh, and does anyone have a full video of this? arrowfanman
I have heard numerous reasons for cancelling Luminara, but don't know how valid any of them are. One reason was that the smoke from the show carried to the lobbies of the nearby hotels (most prominently in the Paradise Pier Hotel). Another obvious reason, is that the show forced the closure of all of the Paradise Pier rides--laaaame. Some people just don't think the show was good enough. I often hear it being said that "it wasn't a Fantasmic". Lastly is the idea that the show simply wasn't economical--wasn't worth the monetary cost, manpower cost, and cost of shutting down all of the rides to help the attendance as little as it did. I don't know any specifics on new shows for the Pier but from what I have heard, there is in fact a show in development right now. Some rumors suggest it will be sort of an abstract interpretation of "Walt Disney's World of Color", but I have nothing to back that up, so who knows. Hope you're able to weed through my post of uncertainty and find some certainty. -Jahan
Wes
Honestly, it just wasn't very good. The only memorable thing about it was the fact that it congested the entire area with thick smoke.
Gnome
^ Yea, that's pretty much all I remember, as well. ^^SO with that being said, it's likely that all of the reasons you mention were a major cause into what ultimately lead to the cancelation of the show. But I think a fantastic water/laser show may go on the lake in the future.
