Their what the CMs call "scream shields". Personally, I think they're the wierdest things on a ride. I mean, it's still gonna scare people, even if they can't hear their screams. Anyways, the sound of the tower would drown out any sound.

Yeah, those scream shields are there to keep the neighbors from crying about the sound. Why you would move next to Disneyland and expect dead silence is beyond me...

 

It's also the reason why California Screamin' has those weird half-tunnels.

I always wondered why they couldn't have come up with a better way of sheilding the screams on Maliboomer...not only are they akward, they are gross as it gets later in the day from everyone's hot breath and spit.

The scream sheilds are pointless because people attempt to, and successfully, scream extra loud to compensate.
