ECZenith Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 I finally made it down to LC for my '06 visit and walked away very pleased. The parking lot looked crowded when we got into it, but all of the lines moved well all day. The waterpark sucked in most of the crowds. here's the rides I did... Boulder Dash-Running two trains all day, got a bunch of rides in early before it got crowded around noon. Even then, it was about an 8 minute wait to get on. BD is now my #2 wooden coaster since El Toro opened, and this year I found it to be a lot rougher than usual. The environment this coaster is in never ceases to amaze me and is definately a gem. Ghost Hunt-Longest wait of the day, 20 minutes. I like this ride, but what I really love about it is the outside of the building and the way the cars exit out the back above the food/game stands below. A fun Sally shooter and definately worth the wait. LC really has a great balance of rides thanks to the this,BD,and the newly added... Thunder & Lightning-After taking advantage of the free drinks and an awesome Panini sandwich place over by the log flume, it was time for some S&S screamin' and Thudner & Lightning did not dissapoint. I had never been the larger version of the Screamin' Swing before today and ended up enjoying it better than the upcharge versions, mainly because it looked more solid and impressive of a machine than the single arm variation. They only had one arm running (didn't know they could do that) so the line was about 10 minutes all day. I don't see what all the hate is about for these things, I love them. Downtime-Walkon! This turbo drop offers a great view of the rest of the park and Compounce Mountain. As the gondola lifts, a ticking clock is heard, once it's ready to drop, an alarm goes off, adding to the theming elemts of a broken clock below this ride is pretty decent. Got lots of drops on this one today... Rapids-This is one of the only rapids rides I'd been on that gets you absolutely soaked without the use of any waterfalls, just constantly splashing riders from all sides. 15 minute wait for this one. I saw the construction site for Zoomers which is basically a pile of dirt right now. We also went to the waterpark to swim in the lake and check out the lazy river, it was packed but we were able to get one slide done with a wait of about 10 mins... Can't wait till they get their next coaster in 08, it will only add to the great overall expereience that is Lake Compounce.
apollo210 Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Nice TR! I'm going to try to make it down to the lake next year or wait until '08 for the new coaster! Lake Compounce looks like a nice little park and I've heard nothing but good things about it (except for the Zoomerang).
SFNE Dude Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Nice TR. Lake Compounce isn't getting a coaster in 2008 anymore. They are moving the road and expanding the waterpark first and then the coaster will come later.
ECZenith Posted August 24, 2006 Author Posted August 24, 2006 Oh well, thats fine by me. The park doesn't NEED anything anyays. As I mentione dbeofre, it's one of the few places I've been to that's able to maintain a perfect balance of ride types and attractions.
