You should be OKAY on a Sunday in Mid-August. You don't have to worry about the church groups (it's Sunday) and the school groups. I go to Magic Mountain a lot and have a pretty good system.

1. If you don't have a season pass, purchase your tickets on-line before hand.

2. Get to the opening gates right when the park opens at 10am.

3. When you enter the park, avoid the temptation to head right for X or Tatsu. Break a RIGHT towards Goliath after you make your way down the "Main Street" area and hit the big Six Flags fountain. Goliath is a good first coaster and will get your blood boiling for the rest of the day. By nature, the park is designed to funnel people to the LEFT after the main entrance and walkway. If you start with Goliath, you can make your way backwards through the park and hit Batman, Colossus, Riddler, Scream and maybe Deja Vu within the first two hours of opening. I usually save X (and now Tatsu) for the last rides of the day. By that time, you're worn out anyhow and don't mind the wait in line.

4. Six Flags reaches it's crowd peak between 1 - 2pm. This is when lines will be the longest and the heat the worst. It's a great time to leave the park, head down the hill and have a leisurly lunch at either Red Lobster or El Torito.

Hope this helps! I'll be there on Sunday as well!!

Yeah for SURE get there when the Park Opens. It will get HOT towards the afternoon so get all your big rides in like Tatsu, Superman, Goliath etc then hit the other coasters! Just my Suggestion!

I don't know who this Mantooth who's only posted once is, but if you want to ride all the coasters at the park I wouldn't follow his directions at all!

Do a search and you'll find plenty of ways to get SFMM done on a busy day.

Well....I'm new so "Hi". At any rate, my system has always worked for me. I went on a Saturday last month and we had five coasters in, some of which we road multiple times, before noon. Like blackjack, I'm sure everyone has their own method.

I usually save Tatsu and X for last after the sun has gone down to avoid the heat but, once again, it's one half dozen.....

Have a good time!

I just don't know anyone who would reccomend this unless you aren't interested in riding either one of these. Also, don't get there right at 10am, get there well before. We reccomend 9:15 or 9:30 AT THE LATEST. When you arrive at the park, and see a HUGE crowd of people waiting to get in...you want to be IN FRONT of the crowd, not behind them.

Overall, my advice for ALL parks has always been:

"Why stand in a line when you don't have to?"

And all of our methods will get you on these coasters, including everything else at the park WITHOUT standing in the long lines.

I should have known better than to question the experts. Sounds like I may need a new strategy and I can't think of better time to implement it than this Sunday when I go to Magic Mountain.

Color me obtuse (not hard to do) but I did a search looking for your guys' Magic Mountain plan and can't find it.

If you could point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks and great site!
