Daft Punk Live

On Friday and Saturday I went to Global Gathering, which is now the biggest Dance festival in the world.

 

Headlining it were Daft Punk, Groove Armada and Fatboy Slim.

 

Daft Punk were the only people I absolutely had to see and they were so amazing. Their first UK performance in 7 years and it was stunning.

The beginning was just so cool. It sent a shiver down my spine when the Robot Human bit came on.

 

They used this mindblowing light display with a huge Pyramid which they sat in their airconditioned room with their ROBOT SUITS on. Hmmm they were so cool!!! The whole set was just so cool!!! I foolishy forgot to take my camera with me so i'll just link you to a couple I found on the global gathering site!

Has anyone else ever seen them live? Or just think that they rule completely?

There's a few differences between that set and the one at Global but not many.

 

^ Haha. They were hard at work! It was all live. Well obviously they had all the choons placed out and everything but it was all mixed at the time! I wanna see them again, but the next time they play anywhere near here is Dublin.. And i'm not here then! Booo!

 

Apparantly this was the last time they would appear in their Robot Suits aswell. I hope it isn't true! There was something special about seeing them like that.

It's only a rumour I heard on the Global Gathering email thing I had when I got home.

 

One of the coolest things about the set was they nearly mixed Around The World with nearly everything...

Youtube has alot of videos and Google Videos have an hour long one from the Coachella! It starts after Technologic.

 

Sounded so awesome. Such a shame you didn't get to see them. But i'm guessing after the reviews they've been getting from the few shows they've done already this year they will hopefully put alot more on!

I would have loved to see that performance. I heard the Coachella one was awesome as well. So jealous!

I went to this. The Friday was way better than the Saturday. Daft Punk was worth the ticket price alone. Was looking forward to the Saturday as last year the main trance arena was amazing but unfortunately they had problems this year with it one being the leaking roof, dire sound and lights kept on failing. Still worth going to tho if you have never been to it.

 

They can claim this year it was the biggest dance festival in the world but would expect Dance Valley will take it back next year as the dates for DV were moved.

 

Wonder who they will get next year? Prodigy or chemical brothers haven't played there yet......

 

Daft Punk said there were only going to do 8 more shows but they are now doing more prob due to ££££. I heard they might be doing a UK tour in 2007. Not sure tho.

I HATE YOU! Lol! j/k.... Not because you got to see Daft Punk live... but because you got to see Hybrid... Live none-the-less! I love that group! I can't wait for their next LP to release in Sept (On the 4th, a day before my birth day!)
