Simon Baynham Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 Hi. Your case study could investigate the advantages and disadvantages of building from wood or steel. Indeed some coasters are built from both! Perhaps you could compare and contrast the two (or 4) different styles: cost to build / maintain, rideability, longevity, the overall experience and rider opinion. You could do a poll! (sound familiar) Simon Baynham (UK)
coaster mad Posted June 24, 2006 Author Posted June 24, 2006 Sorry I forgot to mention it is for science so it has to be based on/involve science.
Simon Baynham Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 There's a few 'sciency' and 'educational' coaster DVDs in the Media Library. You could borrow a few titles (for free!) and base your case study on the programmes. DVD2 The physics of amusement park rides. (30 mins) DVD51 Rollercoaster physics (26 mins) DVD52 Designing thrill rides from start to finish (25 mins) There's more! Remember these are proper DVDs, not footage recorded off the tv... so they might be of some use to you! Simon Baynham (UK)
