  1. seriously?! 4/5 of it's population?!?!
  2. remidns me of the time I went on Nitro and sat in a seat with a lap bar that had duct tpae all over it. I figured they'd already tell me something if osmething was wrong with it, seeing as I was int he front row,a nd sitting in front of the ride op. but afte ra while of them not telling me anything, just to be on the safe side, I aksed one of the local ops whats upw itht he duct tape and THEN their highness remembered to tell me that seat is broekn and I should wait for the next train. feh.
  3. You missed the point. The ride op though that you had to be OVER 54 inches to ride, where as it meant you had to be UNDER 54 inches to ride. oh, I see, I must've misread?
  4. there are two simulators. one of a new york flight one of the coaster.
  5. good footage. Ive been on a slide like that in Turkey.
  6. It is a toddler ride. Thats what makes it so funny. I was never a fan of Viper. I rode it twice. It hurt my neck rather badly each time. if it is, in fact, atoddler ride, what's theproblemw ith it being for people under 54 inches only?
  7. Has anyone here been in the Empire State building around july 2002? Maybe what I'm talking about is still there, I just didnt go to the building last time I was there. As some of you may or may not know, New York's amusement park, Coney Island used to have two large wooden coasters, the Cyclone and the Thunderbolt. The Thunderbolt has been closed and, much later on, demolished, while the Cyclone kept operating and still is. Well anyway, when I entered the empire state building I saw on the right wall of the entrance a large poem with a black and white picture of the thunderbolt. It was a poem about the thunderbolt, about missing it, and the good times had on it, and even though it was just about a rollercoaster it was really emotional and beautiful. I was wondering if anyone else got to read it? Also, there's a rollercoaster simulator in the empire state building, where they used a really cool technique to the movie. Basically at the intro you see an old man walking up to a closed, rotting rollercoaster, that looks like it hasn't been used for years, then there are flashbacks of the rollercoaster in it's past, and it's really wild. basically what they did is use the thunderbolt for the shots from the "present" and the Cyclone for the flashbacks. I just thought it's cool.
  8. It hurts me to read that.
  9. It annoys me. It annoys me that seeing how awsome El Toro is turning out I'm actually starting to think taking viper down was a good move on the park's behalf. sure, many people might think that rregardless of what was built instead but I thought viper was cool. as for the ladybug ride thing, I'm not familiar with the imperial measure technique, but aren't toddlers under 54? And isn't it a toddler ride?
  10. go figure, y'know? I mean, don't forget tthat the same thign happened with rollercoasters. Flip flap raliway and loop de loop were the worl'ds firs tlooping coasters. loop de loop caused injuries and flip flap railway pulled 12Gs(thats fatal). so nobody dared build loops for years to come, but then in the 1970s Anton schwartskopf(RIP) built Revolution - the world's first coaster with a safe, working vertical loop, and since then they've been popping up like mushrooms.
  11. yes, well, that's like going to an amusement park in a 3rd world country
  12. I was wondering how the disaster effected the park. What exactly happened to it?
  13. Let's all have a moment of silence, or at least sad emoticons in hnour of the looping slide and said action park attractions in general, reaped before their prime.
  14. rofl, I dout its on porpouse, but next to jesus there's a lady who's alignment witht he arch int he background makes itlook like an aura
  15. As for the looping water slide - AWSOME. Even though it says that there were many injuries on it, Id still go on it, assuming that the majority of people going on it ended up fine. it looks like fun and something you dont get ot do very often. if at any point in your life at all. as for the other rides in that park - Id idnt read about them. Im scared of pages with a lot of text and most wiki articles fi that description. if there are any other relaly cool rides written about there, can anyone summerize it for me? Id appreiate it alot. As for Shlitterbahn - I saw a documentary TV show that consintrated ont hat park and it was AWSOME. that park RULES, and theres so much more than you have posted about it.
  16. couple of months ago, Kumba or Loop2000, in Superland, Israel
  17. Oh please. If that's real I'm a monkey. No way is that a real, working, water-running water slide.
  18. O_o are you guys serious? Ive been on my shareof coasters and I ahve to admit some of your choices I find rather weird. Viper at SFGADv? Sure it's intense(It ripped my fanny pack off after two laps) but it was alot of fun. And that pinafari looper? We have one at my home park and it's totally cool. not saying its smooth, but it definately doesnt deserve the title of worse. well, not in my opinion, I accept your points of view, Im just saying that in my opinion they're weird choices. Personally I'd have to go against the curve and say that one of these: -Batman: The ride at SFMM the first time I rode it. I have an onride picture of myself from it grinding my teeth. I went on it again this year though and it was cool. -Colossus at SFMM during freight fest, I was riding it backwards and you could totally feel it was never meant to be ridden this way. -Wicked Twister at Cedar Point. Maybe it's because I rode in the middle, so I didnt feel the whole twiist, but it was a magor disappointment. -the blue kiddy coaster at SFGADv. 'cus, honestly, it's like 2 meters tall. Other rides that sucked, but aren't considered "worst" in my book: Hypersonic XLC(That thing is f'ing rough) Deja vu at SFMM(It hurt my head a LOT after waiting two hours to ride it, but in it's own defence it was still somewhat fun)
  19. Same layout maybe, but the experience can be quite different. Ask anyone who's been on a lot of SLCs and they'll tell you that each one rides slightly differently. Well, I've been on two boomerangs, big apple coasters, and canyon blaster style coasters, and I think they're prety much the same.
  20. Can you show me pictures of those two? Ive ridden slides that end in mid-air before, but they were about 1 meter long. that cliff diver one sounds interesting. also, I read in the book of records that the slide "insano" at some beach in I think brazil is the world's tallest slide, but after I googled it I could just swear that Ive seen many taller slides. even in my home park, and we have relatively lame rides here. http://www.gi.maxiweb.com.br/fort_insano2.jpg http://www.packtours.com.br/dest/ceara/resorts/beachpark/f_insano.jpg http://jamesbrief.com/i/Insano.jpg I mean, doesn't that look short to you? To shorten the conversation, I'll jsut assume that it isn't REALLY the world's tallest slide. in that case, what is?
  21. -I disagree about mobious coasters, "cop car chase" or whatever it's called in warner bros. is a mobius coaster but the two sides have rahter different layouts. most racing coasters have more similar layouts than cop car has. -I don't undestand the "I don't not count" thing. Is that a double negative or a typo? -As for the not counting it if it runs backwards unless it's in daily operation, that doesnt answer my question, because I was talking about when the ride USED to open one way, and then it started operating differently, like colossus on fright fest or indiana jones since 2000. -if you dont count reloacted coasters, how come you'd count being on a replica of a coaster in a different park than the one you were already on? I mean, same layout, same experience, no? assuming the theming isn't that different.
  22. I'm a water slide fanatic as well as a rollercoaster fanatic, and I was wondering if anyone knows of any PRATICULARLY awsome/amazing water rides, or doy ou ahve any photos? Because usually just as I think I've seen it all, I discover a new ride, awsomer than anything I ever knew. Please note I already know about: -"Boomerango" style slide(Where the tube goes up a wall and back down) -Pretty much anything you can find on RCT3:soaked(except vertical slides and body slides that go upwards) -Funnel slides and bowl slides -Master blasters(Though Id still love to see cool pictures of those) Also note that although gigantic slalom slides arent really too special, I still think they rock, so if you have any cool photos of them, I'd love to see.
  23. Oh I think El Toro will be a hard ride to beat.
  24. Hm... my first meaningful post here. event hough Ive been signed up for like a year now. As any respectable, yet lifeless coaster enthusiast does, I keep a list of all the rollercoaster I've been on. While updating it I found out that, aside from the fact I was on 77 coasters instead of the 78 I thought Ive been on(but oh well, I'm just 16, there's still time), I also discovered some conflicts. For example. what do I do about racing coasters? Do I consider them as one coaster or two? I would presume the normal answer would be to consider them as one, as they have basically the same layout and they go by the same name. But as for the "same layout" issue, coasters have replicas all over the world, yet you can't go on two boomerangs and list them as one coaster. As for the "going by the same name" issue, gwazi and stampida are coasters made of several - very different tracks, but under the same name, and surely those are considered different coasters? Also, often in racing coasters, either the tracks are mirror images, which means the layout IS, after all, different, or one side goes forward and one side goes backward, giving a completely different ride experience. I come across this problem in refference to Colossus, Rebel Yell, batman and robin the chiller and Gemini. Conflict 2 (yes, there's more): I was on space mountain before it was modified, should I go on it again, would it be considered a brand new coaster for the coaster count? Conflict 3: If you ride a coaster during a "fright fest" night, where they turn the coaster's cars backwards, will it be considered as a new coaster for the list? I mean, on one hand, it's the same coaster, but on the other hand, it's a brand new ride experience and it's basically a modification of the original ride. Conflict 4: Splash mountain in CA. While being on it, I noticed that after a drop, there is a very significant uphill slope. not a short one, either, implying the boat was riding on a solid track, not floating. It wasn't a lift, the boat was moving on strictly inertia. now, on RCDB you see plenty of log flumes that are considered water coasters simply because they have one uphill slope. should splash mountain be considered one? Conflict 5: If a coaster is moved from one park to another, and you go on it at both parks, is it considered two counts? I always figured it does untill Robb told Elissa in some video/photo that some coaster was moved, so it doesn't count.
  25. well, I jsut wanted to sa yabout the cross-shaped bungee jump tower that I actually saw one of those in turkey once. And as someone who actually lives int he holy land(the land, not the park), I, for some reasaon, reeeeally hope that our next ride wont look like this... X_X though mwe do have a biblical themed theme park here that has a giant flume ride called "King Solomon's falls"... yeah...
