  1. The media always finds a way to make it a big deal. Fixed that for you.
  2. This kind of thing has already been done in Legoland. What degree of success it has had, I really don't know. Have we really gotten to the point where people wait over an hour for a meet n' greet? Considering how much being at WDW costs per hour, that makes me cringe a little bit.
  3. SFMM was open today for about 2 hours before the park was closed due to the weather. Another reason to be there at rope drop!
  4. I wouldn't say that...I know at least one family 'round here that brings kids to the park! They have a great time every time too.
  5. Yeah but those 800 quarters would pay for about 5 minutes of legal advice from the team of attorneys that would likely have to be hired to ward off all the lawsuits. Those water cannons are INSANE!!!
  6. ^ Thanks for that! All Animal Farm attractions are equal, but unfortunately this one found out that some Animal Farm attractions are more equal than others.
  7. Don't forget Jurassic Park 4 that assigned script writers in 2004, and had 2009 as a target year for release, only to have plans shelved shortly after Michael Chricton's death. As for Harry, I don't think there'll be any problems with the brand and time until 2020 or later. The books are going to be a school mainstay for the careers of some teachers who are today in the beginnings of their respective careers. Avid Potter readers are most certainly going to pass Harry down to their kids. Harry might not be in theatres, or have new adventures being constantly written, but there's more than enough material there to fuel a brand at least through the 2010's. Brand awareness isn't something that Harry Potter will have to worry about for the depreciative life of these new buildings at the very least. If anyone thinks going 10 years or more without a change to an attraction is going to be a problem, there are already plenty of Orlando attractions that have already gone that long without a major change with no changes on the horizon. This looks like it will do exactly what USO wants it to do. That said, I will most certainly miss Lost Continent's original themeing, especially all that awesome themeing inside Dueling Dragons. We may never see that much effort put into an original non-movie based theme for a major theme park attraction again.
  8. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I can only download 1KB of the video when I try to save it. -- Peoplemover "Figured things would go wrong after I went to IE8 from IE6! " Matt
  9. No pictures but I can report that more of the hillside has been cleared off for the new coaster.
  10. "How was that?" "That was worse than Windjammer." This has to be the #1 TPR video of all time.
  11. Sea World Gardens Africa Sea World Gardens Europe ...it could happen.
  12. I'd just like to state for the record that I downloaded Vol. 3 about 11pm Friday night using IE 6 (a.k.a. Dino-Browser), and had absolutely no problems whatsoever! If the download can work on that browser, it can work on anything. Many thanks to Robb & Elissa for another great Black Friday freebie!
  13. She would be correct. Those 'operational matters' is really one matter - how long the CMs have in order to unload/load/dispatch each train. They are constantly under the gun because should they fail & the train not dispatch in time, the ride literally shuts itself down. It would be cruel to expect a CM to operate a Single Rider line under the clock they have there.
  14. I suggested an electronic info board years ago. Others have made similar suggestions. It's just not the kind of thing that's a priority right now. There's really nothing more that can be read into it than that.
  15. What's it saying about Six Flags that something like that (which does improve the guest experience) is so low on the list? It's saying that when in bankruptcy, not everything in the world can be bought. Things must be prioritized. That should be fairly obvious.
  16. Something like that would be nice but in reality is about #18,993,573,742 on the priorities list.
  17. Awesome stuff Robb. IAAPA always looks like a great time.
  18. The only people who'd care about a roller skater also being at Disneyland are the spoiled teenagers who consider it a direct threat to their budding adulthood to even be seen venturing close to the "kiddy coaster". Everywhere I've seen roller skaters, in the USA and elsewhere, I've seen parents and kids riding them together, and having a great time doing it. That's what a family coaster is. I would expect to see the same if a roller skater winds up behind Johnny Rockets. As stated previously in this thread, it would be a great alternative for the younger siblings while their big brothers/sisters ride Terminator/Deja Vu, among other age groups. I know many of you already consider SFMM to be a park for only one age group, but there's no way the park will survive if it only caters to the teens/young adults age group. Having more attractions that everyone can ride is only a GOOD THING for SFMM, especially because just about every age group besides the teens/young adults has more spending power than that one does.
  19. I love how people automatically make a selling party out to be totally in favor of everything the buyer does with the item that was sold simply because it was sold. That's ridiculous logic. Let's say you sold me a painting and I spray painted a racist slur all over it and put it in public. How would you feel if someone came around and said, "Well that would have never happened if Zen hadn't sold the painting!!!"? The Knott's family has exactly zero responsibility for the choices Cedar Fair has made since they purchased the park.
  20. I really wish I could go to IAAPA someday...
  21. It gets really, really warm here in the summer, but it doesn't hold a candle to a Phoenix summer.
  22. Eric, Check out the restrooms across from the Grand Carousel next time you're there. They're surrounded by barricades and renovation notices!
  23. I haven't noticed any construction activities in the new coaster area yet.
  24. Maybe I'm being old fashioned, but I don't see the need. Walk to the ride & see the information. Ride, or don't. This kind of thing is meant to keep your eyes glued to your phone, and not much else.
  25. The interview process is basically what you'd expect it to be. Show up dressed to impress & be prepared to answer all sorts of questions about you, why you want the job, what you feel you'll bring to the job, etc. If you're honestly excited about the job you've applied for, and honestly want to put forth your best effort into it, that should express itself in how you answer the interviewer's questions. As in all things, just be yourself, and you'll do fine. They will talk to you about the position you applied for, but in case they like you but there's nothing available, they very well might offer you a position in another department (i.e. if there's nothing in Operations, you may be asked about Food Service). If that happens, just be honest with yourself & your interviewer about whatever prospect is presented to you. In my opinion and experience, the whole process is just about as stressfree as it can be. If you truly want to be a part of the team, that'll come out on its own. There won't be a need to force anything, nor will anything be forced upon you. Oh, and make sure you arrive ON TIME! Good luck!
