  1. And this is a big problem, as some people are getting good rides on Prowler and some are getting bad rides. It seems that certain seats or rows or cars are having problems that cause a rough ride, but it's hard to say exactly what is causing it. I have tried bringing it to the park's attention for the last several years, but the roughness continues to happen. I have seen a growing number of comments about Prowler being rough and people not wanting to ride it, after getting some pretty awful rides and the roughness tends to fluctuate in severity. And I have experienced really good rides and really bad rides, so I know for a fact that this is happening. I've had some friends have the same experience as well. I had a bad ride in the next to the last car on one train recently, so I tried the same row in the other train. The other train in that row was totally fine. So that pretty much shows the issue is train related, as there was hardly anything on that second ride worth commenting on in regards to the track. I hope a cause and solution are found sooner than later.
  2. It appears they are only replacing the helix and not retracking the rest of the ride after that. You can see where the new track meets the old track on the small hill after the old helix. I am surprised they aren't finishing the ride as there are a few areas late in the ride that need some love, especially the last few hills before the brakes. Maybe they will do the rest of the ride next year? We shall see.
  3. All of the track from the top of the first drop to just before the helix was replaced in 2015 and 2016. The ride was also re-engineered, so it is much smoother, but also much tamer.
  4. I believe the park was wanting to get GCI trains for Timber Wolf at one point, if the money was available, but I don't know where that stands now. The restoration work also included re-engineering the ride to help make it more rider and maintenance friendly. The sections of track that were already replaced (first drop to just before the helix) are very different from what the original ride was like. The ride now is MUCH tamer, has considerably less airtime and eases into the turns, so it is definitely causing a lot less wear and tear than it did in its original state.
  5. GCI has been giving Timber Wolf a similar overhaul to GhostRider, but the work was to be spread over three or four seasons. The work to be done last off season, didn't happen, but with the helix now missing, it appears they are continuing with the project.
  6. Why do you say that? There still may be another one of these popping up elsewhere too. Cedar Fair has applied for trademark for Railblazer, so I'd bet one of their parks will be getting one of these as well.
  7. That is a ridiculously small amount of ice cream! I forwarded this to Worlds of Fun through facebook messenger and they thanked me for letting them know. Maybe you can contact someone and get another ice cream for free?
  8. I believe the plan was to keep the trim brakes on at least until the helix is redone. The last stretch of the ride, as it heads towards the brakes, is also in need of some work. Those last few valleys have some bouncing that is pretty off putting and I hope that is taken care of soon as well.
  9. Overall, Timber Wolf is probably in better shape than when you last rode it. That said, it is only two seasons into a planned four year restoration project. The first drop to just before the upward helix has been rebuilt and is smooth. The helix was to be redone this off season, but the project was put on hold apparently, so nothing else has been done as of now. The helix is definitely in need of work and is currently the roughest part of the ride. Hopefully the restoration work will continue the next off season.
  10. This year's work didn't happen. I don't know why, but I am guessing it has to do with all the other things going on in the park and/or budget. There is so much going on out there with the new gate, new catering facility, two new rides and a lot of other projects to prepare the park for Winterfest, etc. I was really looking forward to the helix getting some work, but no such luck for now.
  11. The Tivoli Music Hall is to receive a rehab since it will be home to a show for Winterfest.
  12. There are other things going on at the park next year that will be costing a lot of money, so I would guess the two rides are the extent of the new rides.
  13. Thunder Road had three bench cars, so they would most likely go to a park that uses that style. They don't need those for Timber Wolf. If anything, they need the Millennium Flyers.
  14. I did not post the video, it was public when I posted the link. Basically your totally wrong. That is around 4000 ft of total track, you can measure it on google maps. The station in my picture is actually smaller than the station for The Beast. I can copy the station for The Beast out of the larger image and put it next to the station or overlay it on top if you need more proof. The larger building in Zone 1A is the maintenance building. The station is the smaller of the two. I agree that the scale is entirely too big. The first images you posted that kept the coaster inside the railroad tracks is much more likely to be closer to the real thing. There is a photo of Prowler posted on page 1344 that shows that Prowler is similar in size to the railroad tracks next to it. Use the Kings Island railroad tracks as a general guide for scale. Also, when I saw the clearing a few weeks ago, the clearing was very close to the tracks right behind the train depot. I am wondering if the first drop is closer to that as well.
  15. OK, let's not have any bonfires please. Yes, Timber Wolf is very much "OK" these days after it has been re-engineered and and rebuilt up to just before the helix. Most of the airtime and action has been eliminated from the ride. The rehab project has been split up into four years and they just finished up round two a few months ago. The helix is scheduled to be up next in 2017. If all goes as planned the rest of the ride should be done in 2018.
  16. I have read the recent comments about the ride Banshee has been giving lately and thought I would add my thoughts. I rode Banshee opening day in 2014 and fell in love with the ride. It became my favorite coaster almost immediately. I made a second trip to Kings Island that summer, just for Banshee. I live in Kansas City, so it's not a quick trip for me. I visited again in 2015. Between those three trips, I was at the park at least six days, so I had many rides on Banshee. The opening weekend in 2014, I thought Banshee had a more aggressive quality that is had lost by my second trip later that summer. It was still good, but not quite as intense it seemed. Same in 2015. Then, just before my visit to Kings Island last weekend, a friend said he didn't enjoy Banshee as much this year and I think he said it was more intense or something of that nature. I rode it a few days later and I too felt the same. It seemed to give a harsher ride and it just wasn't as enjoyable to me as before. Then after a few rides, it struck me that it seemed more like it did the first weekend it was open in 2014. I am not sure it was the same, but it felt more aggressive again, but even though I rode it more, I just didn't enjoy it like I did before. I am not sure what was causing it to feel different, but it wasn't the same for some reason. I hope I have a better experience on it the next time I visit Kings Island.
  17. The part of Timber Wolf nicknamed the "Bobs Turn" IS the turn through the lift. People were calling it that from very early in the ride's life. Here is a comment by someone else about Timber Wolf posted yesterday (on facebook) that even refers to it: This season, the second drop, third (Bobs) hill, and fourth hill have been reprofiled. And the description of Timber Wolf on the unofficial WOF site refers to the turn through the lift as the Bobs Turn.
  18. There's a trim break coming out of the Bob's turn which kills the airtime on the hill going through the lift. Some air after helix. Though there never was much air to begin with on TW There was never much air on Timber Wolf? Once the brakes were added in August of 1995, the air was reduced, some days more than others. But Timber Wolf most certainly did have airtime and a lot of it and that is precisely why the ride was so highly regarded in its early life. Most of of the airtime has been removed on the "re-engineered" sections that have been done over the last year. The brakes at the top of the second hill, remove ANY airtime from the new stretch of track done this season, if there is any there to be had. The second drop doesn't even feel like a drop, at least with the brakes on. BTW, the Bob's Turn is the turn through the lift and not the turn before the second drop. Airtime aside, the average guest will love the new Timber Wolf, especially once the remainder of the ride is re-tracked. It's very smooth and I heard people laughing last night riding it and really didn't hear any complaints of roughness, compared to previous seasons. For many, it is a new Timber Wolf to be enjoyed and for some, the real Timber Wolf is lost to history and will be missed.
  19. Wtf is this? Looks nothing like the original. Same photo creds as above. Take a closer look at the second drop. It has been changed a lot as well. All of this work will make the ride a lot smoother and it will require a lot less maintenance. Once all this is done, they can remove the "You will encounter intense ride jostling" sign. Most guests will probably prefer the newer Wolf. For those of us who know the ride well, well... the Timber Wolf that was, is no more. I am now referring to it as the Tamer Wolf.
  20. Let's at least give credit to where you took the photo from. This photo and photos of the Timber Wolf retrack and reprofiled can be found on Worlds of Fun dot org 's Facebook page. Yes, the photos can be seen on Worlds of Fun dot org's facebook page and Slides should give photo credit, but he took this photo from Worlds of Fun's Instagram.
  21. The park would like to get new GCI trains for Timber Wolf, so I wouldn't count on PTC, at least for now.
  22. I seriously doubt it. There is track coming off from all over the ride right now, and the project isn't even a full month underway yet. I wasn't referring to the GhostRider project being like Timber Wolf with its several year re-tracking plan. I am just wondering how much redesigning of GhostRider is taking place, as is the case with Timber Wolf. Timber Wolf has been clearly redesigned as to eliminate most the forces that were its strongest traits and reduce wear and tear on the ride and riders.
  23. I am wondering how much this overhaul on GhostRider will be like the work being done by GCI to TImber Wolf. Timber Wolf is going through a multi year re-tracking project. They started with the first drop through the first turnaround this year. The work being done to the ride is extensive including adding new footers and new bents between the old bents that were too far apart and replacing all ledgers to accommodate significant re-profiling. The newly redone portion of the ride is smooth and clearly rides around the track with ease. And that is about all it does. The airtime has been drastically reduced and most of the action has been eliminated. Luckily Timber Wolf ran very fast a lot last season so it gave some crazy rides its last season as the old Timber Wolf. I guess time will tell with Ghostrider, but if GCI trains are going on it, my guess is the ride will change quite a bit with this project.
  24. I was simply trying to let someone know that ThunderHawk was finished at Worlds of Fun and had checked with park personnel to verify it. I added that I had heard that the ride had been removed from the website as well, which it had.
