  1. How many other regional theme parks have a 15,000-20,000 seat amphitheatre? I am pretty sure Darien lake is one of the few. There are a lot of these live nation venues, but they just aren't connected to theme parks. Ever been to Saratoga performing arts center, or Blossom Music center? Gorgeous venues!
  2. The stuff that people have kept on asking about since November have been adding the park to the six flags app, and have it full functional. As well as DC and Looney Tune theming. Those are things that if they plan on doing them, would probably be announced in April, so they can generate media buzz right before opening day. That's when I think they normally announce what live entertainment they will have in the Theme park for the summer.
  3. https://www.intergameonline.com/coin-op/news/six-flags-acquires-three-new-parks Senior vice president of US park operations Tom Iven, said: “We are making major investments in all three properties with record-breaking attractions and extensive upgrades including new theming, paint treatments and branded signage, along with updates to restaurant and retail locations. Additionally, Members and season pass holders will have free, unlimited visits to these parks and Six Flags theme parks throughout North America.”
  4. They probably will soon, it only officially changed a few hours ago.
  5. It was posted on Live Nation of WNY's facebook page.
  6. Here's a picture of the amphitheater from last week....
  7. The picture you posted tho. Was that taken this past week, or from October?
  8. ^ were you walking around, by the maintenance area's behind the viper?
  9. Compared to the peeling paint and dusty fans in the viper station, I never really noticed the peeling train wrap.
  10. I got kind of annoyed when I saw they didn't have a 2nd train several years ago, and it was one of the many reason's I stopped buying season passes. Now they are never really that busy, and it doesn't bother me that much any more. Plus I have gotten used to it. I would believe having two trains, might help Darien Lake pick attendance up. They may re-theme the park, the ride and such eventually, but you can only do so much in one off-season I think. It may not be on the top of their priority list.
  11. I know it was completely expected by all, but there is the name change for 2019 that it seems like many were waiting for They've been added to the map on the six flags website too. However the Darien Lake site isn't updated yet, probably soon though. Getting closer.
  12. Darien Lake's operating schedule was just released!
  13. Would $1,351 be enough money to cut the grass, even once?
  14. I get wanting Darien lake to be added to the app. But why keep posting saying "They haven't done it yet....." The park has only been closed for 22 days, and we have almost 2 full pages discussing that the name hasn't changed.
  15. I'd like somebody to explain to me what exactly are the benefits to us, if they change the name in November vs. April. I can't think of anything.
  16. ^ Darien Lake has been busy with late season improvements. Finally fixing the Pirate. I heard that Live Nation added new LED screens in the Performing Arts Center right before the last concert of the year as well. Did anybody go to the Kid Rock concert, that can confirm that?
  17. Exactly what my point is. After going to a few fright fest events and "sampling" them at different parks they are clearly the lowest of the low in the theme park world as far as the haunts and scare zones. It wouldn't be a huge deal if they weren't charging out the @$$ for maze tickets, but they are, and I don't know how they get away with it. I guarantee over the next few days you will see tons of complaints online about the quality of the event... Don't get me wrong, I think it's great they are opening later in the year, but there are clearly no standards. This one was the worst of all the Six Flags parks I have been to. Well, what we saw, anyways. The house we went through we went through by ourselves and saw 4 total actors, so it wasn't a timing thing. We probably got through it in less than 4 minutes. This seems to be the norm for Six Flags. I wasn't mad about the diamond elite thing, I just politely let management know it was an issue. I wasn't expecting any of the perks to even work this year, so I'm surprised they even did the one free house ticket to be honest. Oh and just an FYI Mind eraser was closed in case anyone cares As far as the food plan, I just think it's weird they don't do "1 hour before close" or something like that like most SF parks do. It's just not very customer friendly. I ate before 7:30 so no loss for me, but there were people in line who were not happy for sure because the first thing they had to do was run and eat. One other thing I forgot to mention that was SO SIX FLAGS was that the carousel was running backwards... lol. If anyone wants a free ticket to the park, PM me... I have a free ticket good for Sat. October 13th only (it's a physical ticket, not loaded onto your season pass). That was the promotion date for season pass holders free ticket. Good luck on that date... o.O -- anyways, the offer is there. The thing is, theme parks that do fright fest well, spend all year planning for it. Darien Lake decided to do Fright fest barely 3 months ago. They actually did a pretty good job considering it was rushed. The thing that disappointed me about the jungle is why is it in such a large building. I went in expecting it to be using the entire theatre, and it used barely half the stage area. They should have just put it in a picnic pavillion. I say DL is moving in the right direction here, and will be much better next season!
  18. Sounds like there will be plenty of fun stuff to do this Fright Fest!
  19. DARIEN CENTER — Darien Lake, a Six Flags Theme Park, will unleash the biggest and scariest Fright Fest in park history. As part of the bone-chilling lineup, seven brand new nightmarish attractions will leave no tombstone unturned to deliver what guests want most — an all-out terrifying experience, company officials said in a news release. The event will feature three electrifying mazes and four dare-to-enter scare zones, along with hellish, roaming zombies around every corner. To take fright to the extreme, Darien Lake will add a sinister element to some of the theme park’s monster coasters by turning off the lights, leaving riders to face their fears in total darkness. “Darien Lake is thrilled to bring top-level, terrifying thrills to our guests with an incredible lineup of truly frightening attractions and entertainment,” said Park President Chris Thorpe in the release. “Fright Fest is the ultimate national Halloween event and we are excited to present our biggest and scariest event yet.” New this Year, three haunted attractions — at an additional charge — will incorporate state-of-the-art makeup, props, and special effects: ■ Hotel Terror: 7 Deadly Sins: Tour the horrific hotel where sinful guests are condemned to a life of suffering. ■ Jungle Apocalypse: Visitors will be taken into a forsaken island filled with ancient ruins, secrets and a tribe of worshippers looking for their next human sacrifice. ■ Camp Scumshine: Visit the winding paths of death and despair that once was Camp Sunshine. Four additional scare zones around the park leave guests nowhere to hide and screaming to get out unscathed: ■ Passage of the Damned: Walk through the passage of the soulless keepers that ensure that no living enter the world of the dammed ■ Creep Show Freak Show: The area of rejected and demonic circus performers. ■ Voodoo Curse: Visitors will pass through a marshy inlet but must be careful not to be enshrouded by those who have been cursed to roam these mucky waters. ■ Screampunk: People here have been experimented on by a delirious inventor who thought it would be a brilliant idea to mechanize mankind Big Top Freaks is headlining the entertainment with a nightly show that is not for the faint of heart, company officials said. Freaks showcases four entertainers that specialize in dangerous, scarring, grotesque, and hard-to-watch feats of physical endurance. Additional frightful entertainment includes: ■ Direct from Las Vegas, Zamora the Torture King will cause most to shield their eyes as he subjects his body to numerous skewers being thrust into his arms, face and neck. ■ The Great Throwdini, internationally known as ‘The World’s Fastest and Most Accurate Knife Thrower’, will subject his human target to multiple razor sharp knives thrown at dizzying speeds avoiding body parts by only a few inches. ■ Red Stuart is the oldest sideshow entertainer, oldest sword swallower and holds nine world records for his craft. Armed with nothing more than a kilt and a microphone, he will swallow swords of increasing length, swallows a car axle, and tops it off with swallowing multiple swords at once. ■ Ziggy Artist of Oddities will perform his own signature blend of modern extreme fire eating as well as treat his head like a block of wood by driving a large nail into his cranium. For the little monsters, a Trick or Treat Trail and Halloween crafts round out the activities during the day. Fright Fest Operating Hours and Days ■ 6 to 11 p.m. Fridays, Sept. 28 to Oct. 26 ■ 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturdays, Sept. 29 to Oct. 27 ■ 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 30 to Oct. 28. ■ 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. October 8 For more information on Darien Lake’s Fright Fest, visit website at www.darienlake.com.
  20. What was available to do from 7pm-8pm while waiting for the laser show?
  21. I was hoping that if they were giving out cheap cards, they would at least allow mobile ticket entry. Is this a thing yet with Six Flags?
  22. The first year it reopened it flipped once. Now it flips 4.5 times and those who ride it seem to enjoy it just fine. I’m failing to see an issue here. Just because the Twister doesn’t flip you over 50 times and drench you in water from old fountains while blasting heavy metal music with strobe lights pointed directly at you does not mean it’s a bad ride. The people who venture over there to get on it seem to love it, that’s what matters. However, if it’s removed, not many people will care because of its currently poor location, and fact that it’s usually one of the first rides to close for staffing issues. I would personally miss it but at the end of the day the park is going to do what it / six flags want. If its flipping better now, that's awesome. It was only open 1 time for me this year, and I have gone to the park about 10-15 times, and it didn't flip over the time. They need to just put the new ride, next to Twister to increase riding.
  23. Is there anyway twister may be taken down, to get refurbished, and come back where it actually flips over....
