Increasing motion sickness

I will now, thanks! quote="bert425"]have you tried motion sickness tabs - stickies behind the ear. Many use them on Cruises to help counteract Sea-sickness, and I'll bet they might help you out too. -
Increasing motion sickness
johnrose replied to johnrose's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks! -
I've loved theme parks and rides for more than 30 years. When my wife and I went to Disneyland for the first time in 1995 I knew nothing about it and just went on every ride without thinking about it. I had an amazing time and was immediately hooked. As time went on my inner ear began to rebel, and I've developed increasing sensitivity to motion and G-force. Example: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was my go-to easy ride when I'd overdone it on Space Mountain. Last time we went, I got severe motion sickness from it. I was heartbroken at the apparent deterioration of my middle ear and its impact on my theme park experience. Any others like me out there, and what do you do to combat this poopy sign of getting old.

Ride refurb soft re-opening?
johnrose replied to johnrose's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Turns out it opened Jan. 30 at 3:30 p.m. We got 5 rides in two days. Forgot to post that day. Major bonus when you think one of your faves will be closed and they soft open. A good reminder to go over to the ride just to make sure. It still said 'closed' online and in the app. -
Ride refurb soft re-opening?
johnrose replied to johnrose's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's what I figured, thanks! I'll report back once we get there if I get wind of soft open date. -
Heading to Orlando Jan. 24 to 31 and I notice Splash Mountain is set to be down until Jan. 31. Should we bother trying to go on the 31st for the alleged opening date? Do they ever reopen early after these seasonal refurbs? Thanks for any help.

Thrill rating system
johnrose replied to johnrose's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks for bumping! As I get older I find my inner ear is less tolerant to Gs than even five years ago, so a formalized rating system would be extremely helpful. -

Thanks for the corrections... I'll adjust the story. -
As someone who has motion sickness issues, I wanted to include ratings in that regard in my story on Disneyland. Let me know what you think of this approach, and my ratings. http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/travel/Heading-to-Disneyland-Ride-guide-will-help-you-plan-112503799.html Thanks! Part 2 on Universal Hollywood runs tomorrow.

Settlement reached in wrongful death suit against Disneyland LOS ANGELES (AP) - The family of a woman who died two months after riding the ``Indiana Jones Adventure'' at Disneyland reached a settlement with The Walt Disney Co. in a wrongful death lawsuit. Lawyer Barry Novack, who represents the family, said a confidentiality agreement prevented him from disclosing the terms of the settlement reached on Dec. 29. Pretrial motions had been scheduled for Thursday. ``The case has been settled and the terms will not be disclosed,'' Rob Doughty, vice president of communications for Disneyland Resort said Thursday in a written statement. ``Safety always has been, and continues to be, our top priority,'' he said. Cristina Moreno, 23, of Barcelona, Spain, complained of a severe headache after getting off the ride in 2000. She was hospitalized the same evening after losing consciousness, according to the lawsuit. She died two months later from a brain aneurysm, the lawsuit states. Moreno, who had travelled to California on her honeymoon with her new husband, ran up more than US$1.3 million in medical expenses in Spain before she died in September 2000. The lawsuit alleged that Disney pushed the ``envelope to the extreme'' in designing the attraction, known for being fast, turbulent and combining the ups and downs of a roller coaster. Lawyers for Disney have maintained the attraction was safe, and that the woman's death was unrelated to the ride that opened in March 1995.

Theme park operator Euro Disney net loss widens threefold in fiscal first half The Canadian Press PARIS (AP) - French theme-park operator Euro Disney SCA said Thursday its net loss more than tripled in its fiscal first half because of one-time restructuring gains a year earlier. Euro Disney's net loss rose to 102 million euros (US$126 million) in the six months ending March 31 from 29.8 million euros a year earlier. The company, which operates the Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios parks in the Paris region, said its operating loss increased to 61.1 million euros ($75.9 million) from 51.2 million euros ($63.6 million) a year earlier, as revenue fell. First-half revenue decreased 1.4 per cent to 467 million euros ($581 million) from 474 million euros last year, as both theme park attendance and hotel occupancy were lower. Spending per hotel room decreased due to the discounting of room rates for certain vacation packages, Euro Disney said. Real estate revenue grew 60 per cent from the prior year to 15.5 million euros ($19.3 million) because of increased land sales of residential property. The group said it plans new attractions in the Walt Disney Studios Park from the beginning of the 2007 fiscal year to add to the appeal and capacity of Disneyland Resort Paris. Euro Disney shares were nearly unchanged, to close at 0.10 euros (12 cents) in Paris trading.

Metro Goldwyn Mayer to build movie theme park in South Korea Source: The Canadian Press SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - Hollywood giant Metro Goldwyn Mayer Inc. plans to build a movie theme park in the South Korean city of Busan, the city government has announced. In a news release on its website, South Korea's second-largest city said it signed a preliminary agreement with MGM and its licensing agency Glovit Inc. to build the park. The city government will provide more than 99.2 hectares for the construction of MGM Studio City, which will include multiplex movie theatres, an amusement park, studio sets, a film academy and hotels. Busan is located 453 kilometres southeast of Seoul. Construction on the first phase is scheduled to begin late next year with plans to open in early 2011, the release said. Total investment, if a proposed additional two phases are completed, is estimated to reach about $1 billion US. The regional government forecasts that the park will generate economic benefits of about $1.3 billion in the decade after opening, and create 15,000 jobs annually. The city government expects the theme park to become a key Northeast Asian tourist spot along with Disneylands in Japan and Hong Kong as well as a Universal Studios theme park in Japan.

How can you assume that? Police are considering whether to lay charges... no mention of a lawsuit.
