  1. I only been here once and thats way back in the summer of 2005. Maybe its changed a lot since then but if the lines still got long like I remembered I'm sure ROS only having one train would make the lines painstakingly slow...Im pretty sure back then when I went the did use two or more trains and the lines for it was like 45 mins to an hour so I can only imagine how long the lines for only one train would be. Then again since its been over 10 years since I went maybe it's lost its popularity and there isnt as many people. I just assume it being a some what big park and being so close to a popular national park it would get some pretty big crowds.

  2. I noticed a lot of older people say todays society, especially in countries like America, are full of self entitled people in general. So that makes me wonder lets say it was possible to have a big group amusement park event 80,90,or even 100 years ago. There of course was no internet but somehow brought together a group some other way(newspaper, radio). Do you think back then there would of been the drama that the todays events would have or did people truly have better morals back then? Or would of it been the same and there was always self entitled humans on our society? I know its a silly question to ask but I always hear about all sorts of groups and activities being ruined because of self entitled or intolerable people. Was it the same back in the day and if not why are people so different now then they were half century ago or more?

  3. ^Heck it seems anything could be called a carnival then! Imagine the same for amusement parks?? Like you know how some malls have a little section that has those coin operated kiddie rides all neatly placed by each other? Imagine those be considered the worlds smallest amusement parks! lol. Add some arcade games to the rides and place it all near a food court and there you have a full fledged "amusement park"! If you are lucky one of the parks might even have a coaster!

But not really I seriously wouldnt consider that an amusement park in a million years but I wouldnt be surprised if someone did...

  4. I prefer Mako to Manta but I'm more of a fan of hyper coasters than inverting coasters in general. Manta is still a fantastic coaster though and my favorite flyer (haven't ridden Tatsu yet) but I was really, really impressed with Mako's first half.

    To give some perspective...

    Out of 10 (5 being average), if Mako is an 8, Manta's a 7 and Kraken's a 5.5.

I have to agree to that as well. Inverting coasters are a lot of fun but I think hyper coasters are far more fun. Hypers and Gigas(only though i only been on one) are my favorite type of coaster. So while I do enjoy inversions a lot,I think steep tall drops and intense air time is a lot more fun!

  5. ^^I dont get why people wouldnt want to do extra fun stuff. Going on trips are for having fun and living a little! Thats why people will often take off more work(or school) days than the actual amount of days of said trip, so they have extra days just in case. Its called planning ahead. Or maybe they were just a bunch of sticks in the mud who like to complain. Also as far as money goes thats why its always good to save up some extra on top of the amount of the actual trips worth as well. Again planning ahead.

  6. I never been on a trip like this before but it sounds like they were a lot of fun! However if you dont mind me asking what type of stuff did the bad people do? From what I seen in this thread it must of been pretty bad. Was it really just social awkwardness or stuff a lot more serious like harming others, harassing others, starting fights, stealing, drugs etc. It's a shame how a few crappy people like that could ruin something for everyone else

  7. Im honestly really excited to ride all three. Believe it or not i only been on one B&M Hyper and that was Raging Bull. So Im looking forward to riding a more modern up to date version of a B&M hyper. Kraken looks cool too because it has both the real drop and inversions. While Kumba had awesome inversions it did lack the drop(it was only curved oppose to straight down)...but it seems Kraken has both. Manta looks awesome too because I only been on one flying coaster. Thats also at Great America. So im hyped to get to go on my second flying coaster and Im sure its better then Superman too.

  8. Believe it or not i actually enjoy fast food a lot i know its not the healthiest but still its really good. Like Mcdonalds,Wendys,Taco Bell,Burger King, etc However for some reason mass produced amusement park food is just ok. So yea to me I think actual fast food taste better then most amusement park food but thats just me. I noticed a lot of amusement park food dont taste bad per se but more so just bland. Also another thing I noticed that is weird is that sometimes carnival food taste better then actual amusement park food. Especially when said carnival has tons of food vendors vs the typical food stands.

  9. . . . I wonder what it had to attract so many people that the town shut down so everyone can attend.

. . . Small town, with nothing else to do.

Yea I guess you are right. I been in small towns before not lived but visited and i agree they are pretty boring for the most part. I prefer big cities or places with a lot of attractions. Unless its like a beach town or something I don't care much for standard small towns. You can only handle so much corn.....

  10. ^ I woundnt know how old you are but i highly doubt its 101....unless there is some tech saavy 100 and something year olds out there.lol But i doubt you would hear about such thing nowadays. Whole towns shutting down because of some sort or event or carnival. Especially one with so little rides....I wonder what it had to attract so many people that the town shut down so everyone can attend.

  11. Speaking of theme park food I noticed somethings about it. I often heard older folks mentioned how their childhood local parks(many that im sure are long gone now) had the best chowders, crab cakes, taffies, pop corn treats etc. and even today a lot of small family owned parks have some flagship food item or items. However when it comes to corporate parks usually the food gets a bad rep. I wonder how can a small family owned park have such good foods a lot of the time but corporate parks which makes tons of money often only make mediocre food. However i never had any one-of-a-kind amusement parks foods just typical amusement park foods. Most of I had was just ok. Not horrible but nothing special either. I do enjoy Johnny Rockets though but I assume thats more of a fastfood place then amusement park food. But yea i find it interesting how people would say "back in the day so-and-so park had the BEST frozen custard and out of this world tacos!" So what made amusement park food because so mediocre compare to back in the day?

  12. ^Hey! It may be cold yea but if i was offered to go to an event with open rides even if it was cold I wouldnt pass it up. I'd just dress super warm that is. However I assumed a big part of why rides dont ride in the frigid cold is was because of mechanical reasons honestly. Then again I'm probably wrong. I may be into to coasters a lot but when it comes to the technical stuff thats where im fuzzy or just not really that interested to tell you the truth. I'm more into the history of coasters and amusement parks, learning about different types of coasters, knowing about different coaster/ride companies and most of all....riding them!!! lol But yea coasters are fun regardless of weather. Heck back when i was in the 5th grade we took a field trip to a local waterpark(Deep River Water Park) for our last day of school that year. It was early June and being june you'd think it would be warm but as i remember we had freak cold weather that year (spring of 2001). We didnt want to cancel the trip so we went anyways in 50 degree weather....Is it comfortable going to a waterpark when its cold as crap out? Heck no! but it was still a lot of fun. So surely riding coasters in cold weather cant be that bad lol. Not compare to waterslides. Granted I'd never go to a waterpark in like 30 degree weather but still.

  13. In other words, Who else is going to Chill out!? I'll be in the ten o'clock group and this will be my first event like this!

We were barely able to snag an 8:30! They sold really quickly. I'm super psyched though, never been! My boyfriend is new to the game and was like, "Why would you want to visit Cedar Point when none of the rides are open?" I'm like:

Im not gonna lie. I was wondering the same thing...... I mean why go to an amusement park if there is no rides running? I know it would be to cold to run rides so I guess a more accurate question is why open up a park in an area during their harsh long winters?? But like him I'm new to the whole Winter Chillout idea. Never heard of before until I joined this site.

  14. Yea I looked up the sight myself as well so far so good. Just as long as I can get all three of the coasters in thats great. and of course maybe the water ride too. Im super excited about Mako! Its the tallest and fastest in Florida. I know thats not saying much as of course there is taller and faster but still as Florida is a hub for amusement parks its pretty neat to go on the tallest and faster of them all.(of all florida coasters) Also the fact its Florida's only hyper. The other two look petty fun too. I heard a lot of praise about Kraken. In a way it looks more fun then Kumba.

  15. I know this thread is super old and been dead for several years but at least I looked for it this time instead of making a whole new one like did the last few times(sorry about that by the way). Out of curiosity I wanted to know what the smallest parks are this was the closest one I can get to that. Anyways:

Smallest amusement park I been to is Adventuredome at the Circus Circus hotel in Las Vegas. But then again its indoors so of course it will be smaller then most. I guess the smallest outdoor one,if you want to consider it an actual amusement park is on top of the Stratosphere Hotel also in Vegas.

Smallest carnival I been to is actually here Ill post it. Its me filming it and me rambling on a little. This video is also a few years old. The mini carnival is at a campground resort I go to every summer as my aunt owns a camp lot there. Its a Jellystone Park in Plymouth Indiana. I guess you can say Jellystone Parks are to campgrounds as Six Flags is to amusement parks. Anyways enough rambling on here is the video:

I know its not the best video as i should of got closer and you know actually go INTO said carnival but I didnt want to come off as odd,as people might thinking im talking to myself. I honestly I never felt comfortable talking to a camera in public for some reason. Even though people know recording and making videos for social media sites is a thing people still tend to give you odd looks. However the main thrill rides you see there are pretty much it. Others were just kiddie rides. There was more carnival games then rides. Also thats pretty much the outline of the carnival so you arnt missing much. Both of the rides were a lot of fun by the way of course the rock-o-plane being more fun and sure packs a punch.

  16. I might be going here during my trip to Florida. Im really stoked . Never been here before just to the one in California when i was small. Looking forward to riding Mako and I haven only been on one B&M hyper and thats Raging Bull at Great America. Kraken looks really awesome too! Also does SW still have orca whales? Or did crazy PETA put a stop to that? If so kind of a shame since the whales are one of the best parts of a SW park

  17. ^Well thats why I'm not a fan of mine train coasters. They dont have any actual drops. Im just not a big fan of "flat" coasters. That is all. When i went on AE me and the friend who went with me didnt know what the ride even was. At the time I really didnt know coasters that lacked both drops and inversions existed unless it was a kiddie coaster. So when I rode it I was like wtf was that? lol.
