  1. I heard next year, they are building one that is bigger and faster than Kingda Ka, longer than The Beast and has the most inversions of any coaster.... So a 500ft Larson Looper that goes upside down 50 times forwards and backwards? You heard the same rumor that I did.

  3. If you can, Firehawk is a great place to start, low capacity is an understatement, plus Flight of Fear is right next door and that line tends to get rather long as well. They will leave the line open until closing, so you have up until then to get in line, and yes The Beast you need to ride at night. If you are visiting on an 8p close, then yes try to wait as late as you can to ride it. It's a great ride no matter what, but a lot better at night then during the day. There are two places that I eat at when I eat in the park 1) Skyline Chili, you can't pass it up. However, I have grown up in Cincinnati and have grown up with Skyline Chili. When I lived in Florida for a little time, I had a roommate from Georgia and New York, both of them thought the chili was too spicy. 2) Chicken Shack. If I had to compare this place to another restaurant, it closely resembles Raising Cane's. But, still great food. P.S. Don't forget to try the blue ice cream. You have to do it. There is one located in Planet Snoopy. Trust me on this one.
  4. "Sorority House"? Geewhiz, I can't imagine what the actors will be wearing in there... Costumes aside, that is typically one of the better houses in the park. Now and before it was changed to Delta Delta Die. That seems like an awesome concept! No offense to anyone who is/was a part of Greek life, but I'm not a huge fan of it. So whatever murder and mayhem this house suggests, I approve Sundays tend to not be that busy, however I would suggest hitting up Firehawk and Flight of Fear first. Last Sunday was my first time at the park, and I did arrive a bit late and leave a bit early, but it was a lot busier than I thought it would be. Several coasters reached hour+ waits, and most of them were at least 30-40. I think I'm gonna go back this Friday to ride the coasters I didn't get to, hopefully get night rides (esp Beast), and rerides of the ones I liked. I never reported back after several of you wished me a good time (thank you) and then the thread got sidetracked with an unfortunate comment, but I rode Diamondback, Beast, Vortex, Racer (both sides), Monster, Adventure Express, Drop Tower, Banshee, and Bat. In general I enjoyed everything I rode, except Vortex which was a bit intolerable even for someone who can handle rough coasters usually well. It wasn't quite a "never again" like a coaster of the same name in California which will soon be converted, but bad enough I'll wait before giving it another chance. Banshee was very fun but not too intense and I'm not a fan of the vests. Diamondback had better airtime than I expected. Racer was rougher than I hoped, but better the 2nd time when I sat in a different row. Beast was less rough than I expected and very fun, although I do think it'll ride a lot better in the dark. Bat was a surprise gem, Adventure Express was a lot cuter and funner than I was expecting, and I loved Drop tower! It's super weird for me to think this will be my new home park now after having SFDK as my home park my whole life, and they are such different parks, but I'm totally psyched because KI seems like an overall awesome park and I'm really looking forward to Haunt! Now, if only they had an RMC... Welcome to the area, Kings Island is a fantastic park. That might a little biased, seeing how it is my home park as well. I was at the park this passed Sunday as well, it was a crowded day, I believe due to the last "operating day" with school starting back up and the wonderful weather that we had. Vortex is a tough ride, but for some reason I keep going back for more and more. There are many great things at the park, once Haunt comes around it gets even better. If you ever have any questions about anything, don't hesitate. Again, welcome and hope you enjoy the area. P.S. You do have to ride The Beast at night, once Haunt starts up, you can get some great midnight rides on The Beast.
  5. I'm hoping it does well, not sure how well NBA City did while it was there. I thought NBA city was ok, depending on the atmosphere when you went, we went during the NBA finals one year and the place was amazing, went another time and it was just ok. However, once I seen the announcement for Toothsome Chocolate Factory, it had me way more excited to visit, already planning on making this one of our first stops when we visit in June '17.

  7. Looks like KI is under way getting Haunt set up. I know this means we are approaching the end of the season, but for me it is one of the most exciting times of the year, nothing better than coasters and haunted houses!
  8. How is that man not employed by Cedar Fair already?!! Has all of the answers.
  9. Steel - T2 - Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom Wood - The Boss - Six Flags St. Louis
  10. Glad you had a good day at the park, I was up there yesterday for a bit as well. Weather was perfect, park was crowded, but still was able to get in a few rides for the day. It's extremely upsetting when you see guests act like that in any park, they attempt to ruin the day for anybody that they possibly can, whether it be themselves, employees or other guests. Unfortunately it happens more often than not, especially with people trying to fit on rides and more often blaming you or the ride. I have heard people claim that the harnesses on the ride have shrunk since last year, I have heard that I am doing it on purpose because I dislike them, the excuses are endless for people that have issues fitting on rides, and want to place the blame on anyone that they possibly can.
  11. Actually as I'm reading facebook, it looks like people are saying Winterfest will be included with your gold/platinum passes.
  12. Does anyone know if the Christmas in July was successful for KI or not? My family and I went to the breakfast with Santa that they had, I thought there was a pretty good turn out for it and overall very well done. I wonder if that was a test to determine if they would release Winterfest or not?
  13. The last time they had Winterfest, I believe it was separate admission, but I think it was still owned by Paramount at that time. That would be nice to be able to get into this with the passes, instead of paying another fee.
  14. I agree. It's more meant for locals, but also, look at the Cincinnati Zoo, they have the festival of lights every year and if anyone has ever tried to go, you know how crazy the crowds are especially on the weekends. A normal 5 minute drive off the exit to the Zoo turns into a 45-60 minute wait, just to park. If done correctly, can be very successful for the park and the company.
  15. I don't think they gave it enough time to "catch" on, Christmas is all about tradition, giving something 1 year to "make it big", isn't allowing you to build the tradition. I thought it was fantastic when I went the last time it was going, was hoping to make it a tradition with my family, unfortunately that was cut short. Hopefully it catches on bigger and they decide to keep it around. I guess too that we may see plans change between now and November of 2017. They may decide between now and then to get a few rides up and running. I agree, wouldn't be that hard to get a couple of the indoor rides operating would be my guess, good thing about announcing this early, they can listen for feedback and adjust as it get's closer.

  17. I guess my wish wasn't to far off!! Couldn't be more excited for it!
  18. Saturday's are very busy for Halloween Haunt, I would recommend buying Fright Lane to get front of the line for the haunted houses, if that's your goal. Or fast lane if your goal is the roller coasters. The park is open 11a to 1a, but the houses don't open until 6 or 7p. The outdoor one's might not open until 8p. I enjoy Halloween Haunt a lot, the houses aren't all that "scary", but with that being said, I have been going every Friday night for the last 5+ years, so I have the houses laid out and know what's going to happen next.
  19. Hotel looks nice, wish it was closer to the park like Sandcastle Suites or Hotel Breakers. But I guess that's why the rates are typically cheaper there vs the other two.
  20. I'm going with this prediction as well! Would that then get rid of Urgent Scare for Halloween Haunt? Keeping that open year round, instead of closing it off for Halloween Haunt. Not that it's not overdue to be replaced with a new haunted house/attraction.
  21. I'm really hoping to hear that they are going to bring back Winterfest, although I don't think that will be the announcement. Hopefully, we end up with something more than the Dodgems like Dorney picked up.
  22. It's easy to hit everything once. But be warned, this is the first year for the new company, and the park is still putting itself back together. On our visit a few weeks ago, closed rides included Tig'ger, Lost Coaster, Giant Wheel, Shafer Queen, Log Flume and the new Super Loop... Operations are still as bad, if not worse than in past years. And the previously wonderful Hoosier Hurricane was still full of painful potholes. I hope the new company can pull it all together in the next couple years. If you are going out of your way, or pulling time away from another park, I would say hold off to see if the park improves next year. Indiana Beach used to be the sort of place we wanted to spend more TIME and MONEY, because it was so fun. The atmosphere, the rides, the lights at night, everything. Sort of a smaller Knoebels on the lake. We aren't planning on going until next summer, we were planning on going from Holiday World to Indiana Beach to Six Flags Great America. I have always heard great things about Indiana Beach, although maybe I should hold off another year, and move our trip to go across Pennsylvania towards Six Flags Great Adventure.
  23. Almost any holiday/holiday weekend is crazy busy at Kings Island. However, there is always the option of buying a fast lane pass, which would allow you to get on more rides than if you chose to wait out the lines with the rest of the crowd. I know the weekend is but how about the actual day of Labor day? If CP is any indication, CP is always pretty empty. Wondering if KI is the same way. Wish I had a better answer for you, typically I stay away from the park on holidays or the weekends surrounding the holiday. I do know, Kings Island has dollar days going on that weekend (2-5), where you get hot dogs, pizza, ice cream, and other options for only a dollar. Which could help with an increase in traffic within the park.
