  1. ^^ I get your point, it was a rather silly question. I guess I'm just curious how the park distinguishes between allowed and not allowed loose articles, not that it will make a difference to me if I go.
  2. What the f*ck? Sorry I even posted that clarification, I thought people would feel slightly better knowing that they only care about phones since so much of the conversation was centered around "I have prescription glasses / a wallet / an emotional support armadillo and I may die now if they're not allowed. Can I bring them in the queue?" We went to the park Saturday and Sunday. We had a great time. We followed the rules and doing so did not negatively impact our day in any way. Sorry, I'm just trying to find more clarification about the rule. I'm might be heading there next week and I'd like to know exactly what I can and cannot bring into the queue. I'm just curious whether this policy is focused solely on phones or whether it includes other types of articles as well. Thanks for the clarification.
  3. This I understand. It's just unfortunate that those who do take their phones out on rides have caused the rest of us to not even be able to take our phones in the queue. I would definitely prefer to be hit by a wallet rather than a phone, but keys - getting hit by keys could be even worse than getting hit by a phone. Even with your explanation, it just feels strange that ONLY phones aren't allowed, but tons of other loose articles are. Just wondering about the policy. Is it really "anything but your phone" or just "anything but something shaped like a phone"?
  4. I find this rather strange. If they are hitting you at 74 mph, glasses, keys, or a wallet aren't going to hurt any less than a cell phone would. Silly question, but I have a portable charger that I bring to parks looks like this: It's about as big as a phone, but since it isn't a phone, would they allow that in line/on the ride? Of course if I'm getting a locker for my phone I might as well put my charger in there too, but I'm just wondering if it would hypothetically be allowed.
  5. That's really strange, especially if they have to wait for the next train to hit the final brakes to dispatch. That wouldn't increase the capacity at all, it would just make the ride cycle longer because you'd stack. I wonder why they can't run this like Banshee or Magnum, which both have three trains and no Mid Course. All they would have to do is find the dispatch interval that guarantees the first train will clear the final brake run before the second reaches the top of the lift. ..although I suppose that if it was possible they'd have already done it. Hope they can figure it out soon so more people can enjoy it!
  6. Hi everyone - two questions. One, when do Platinum Passes start selling for next year, and two, do they include the rest of 2018 if you buy them at a certain time? Thinking of getting a Platinum Pass so I can go to Cedar Point this year, and KI, CP (again), and MA next year. Getting a Platinum Pass would help.
  7. It definitely won't affect the people that take their phones out. These type of rules punish the innocent, not the guilty unfortunately.
  8. ^^ Definitely makes me question their intention too, especially considering what was said on the last page: A wallet hitting you at 50 mph isn't going to hurt much less than a phone hitting you at 50 mph. That makes the policy even more strange..
  9. CP Rundown posted this on twitter: Seems like this policy is here to stay
  10. Yeah I overstated that a bit, I was just referring to opening day after the incident and the day before CoasterMania. I'm glad it's running reliably now, let's hope it can run at full capacity soon too.
  11. Such a stupid argument. I’m not even entertaining this with a real response because it’s not worth my time. Back when Steel Vengeance had it's share of downtime (after the collision, right before CoasterMania, etc) I saw many posts on Social Media that expressed dissapointment about it being closed. 99% of these posts had a comment along the lines of "well your park ticket isn't for you to ride SV, it's for you to enjoy the park! So what if one coaster is closed? They have 16 more!" uhh, what? If I drove 6 hours from Chicago with the hope to ride Steel Vengeance, if it's closed, I'm allowed to be dissapointed, right? The 16 other rides that are open don't mean that I'm not dissapointed about the one ride that's closed..
  12. Entertainment isn't the only reason a person needs their phone in line. Some people need to be on call at work, some people need to be able to contact their family, etc. A parents at home not being able to reach their kid in line for multiple hours would be rather concerning. Of course you could just tell me, "well, don't ride then", but really? I'm don't want to miss out on a ride many call one of the best in the world because I can't have my phone in line. I would just have to deal with not being reachable for multiple hours, which would not put my mind at ease particularly well. I hope their solution is temporary.
  13. The only problem with X2's lockers, in my opinion, is that they cost a dollar or two. I understand the argument that it's only a dollar or two, no big deal, but if I've brought special cargo shorts with pockets that will absolutely make sure my phone doesn't fall out of my pocket, it's just a bit strange that I still have to pay for a locker to hold ny stuff. Especially if SFMM was my home park, and I go once a week or so, that locker cost could add up if they were mandatory. I definitely prefer this system over what they're currently doing on Steel Vengeance, but if I'm going to be forced to use a locker to hold my phone, which I already can hold securely, it just seems weird that I would have to pay a few bucks. It isn't the money that's a big deal, it's just that I've already come to the park prepared. And one question about X2's lockers: I've been on X2, but that was back before I was as into coasters, so I can't quite remember the layout of the station. How do they make sure that exiting riders, while getting their stuff from their locker, don't jump back into the station and ride again?
  14. I've asked a few ride ops at the park about the fast lane ratio, they said there wasn't one that they are supposed to follow, instead they just make up the ratio and send people as it feels right. This might be a reason why the FL queues back up so much and are so inconsistent. I have used the Platinum Flash Pass at SFMM and Fast Lane Plus at Cedar Point, and I rode over twice as many rides at Cedar Point as I did at Magic Mountain. At Magic Mountain, I rode 16 rides total using the flash pass. At Cedar Point, I rode 32. I'd prefer Cedar Point's system (wait less) over Six Flags' system, (hop right on but only once for the most popular rides) any day. I think FLP at Cedar Point is the perfect system - it allows you to bypass the majority of the lines without inconveniencing other guests too much.
  15. Some really good news from a user on Reddit: The fact that they don't need to wait for the next train to completely return is fantastic, and three trains testing is good news as well.
  16. They open the gates at 10:30, no earlier. They don't let you queue for the rides ahead of that. It's a little different than other parks.
  17. Definitely agree. Some people view Fast Lane as unnecessary and a waste of money, but it actually makes a lot of sense if you're traveling from far away. Most of the time, Fast Lane Plus actually costs less than a 1 night hotel & ticket to the park. Therefore two days at the park, one with fast lane plus, and two nights at a hotel can actually cost less than three days at the park and 3 nights at a hotel. This is only true if you a) live far from the park and b) don't have a season pass, so obviously I can't justify getting a Flash pass at my home park (Great America), but at other parks it makes a ton of sense. You spend more on the fast pass, less on hotels and tickets.
  18. It's the other way around.. Every time Steel Vengeance trims you to a different speed, it's a new credit
  19. During my 2016 Cedar Point trip, Windseeker was closed for high winds. Ironic.. I guess windseeker seeks wind, and when it finds it, it shuts down
  20. They were not spot accurate when they ran one train with respect to the wait time. Generally it was shorter than what they communicated. I'm sure a part of that was to account for any unexpected breakdowns. Better to overestimate than to underestimate.
  21. If the park doesn't want to run three trains on SV, a fairly long coaster, why would they run three trains on Rougarou, Gatekeeper, Raptor, Magnum, and Valravn most of the year? All of those coasters are shorter than SV, and often stack while running three trains. If they were going to run 2 trains on SV, they would on all the coasters I listed. My point is - Cedar Point is all about efficiency. It's very clear to me that they care about fast operations. Why else would they have so many coasters with multiple stations & more than enough trains? Now, about your "they never tested with three trains" argument - Good point, but I think the timeline of testing shows that they meant to run three trains, but just never got the time. The opening day incident, to me, shows that this ride wasn't tested enough. Of course, this is completely speculation on my part, but it just seems as though they wanted to run three trains, ran out of time with the quickly approaching first rider event, and settled with running two trains. That just makes the most sense to me.
  22. Park had confirmed what BoulderDash said, SV will not open today.
  23. Could you describe the restraint check? Cedar Point always seems to know the best way to operate their rides, I'm curious how they do it differently than other parks with an RMC.
  24. Very good news, thanks for the updates! Very unfortunate for those that are visiting tomorrow, but this means that over the summer many more people will be able to ride.
  25. If this was even remotely true... Why would CP go to the trouble of theming and naming three trains when they "allegedly" knew they'd just be using two trains. Why theme the third train if its only going to be used as part. This does not pass the logic test so it's bullshit. Ding ding ding... You hit the nail on the head. Why would they go to all the trouble of theming the three trains to the three characters and not run all 3 trains, which they did briefly on the first day until 2 bumped. The original question is complete BS. All 3 will be certified at some point or at some point 3 trains will be certified on this ride to the 3 characters. (referring to the part I bolded) SV has never run three trains at the same time. When the collision occured, only two trains were running. The third was in storage. They ran two trains for the first rider event, the 3 season pass holder days, and the first half of opening day. Just to clarify, by "used for parts" I meant only temporarily, obviously they'll get them all running at some point. BoulderDash's post suggests the same:
