  1. People in new jersey don't pay to park at target, or their grocery store, or a mall. This isn't brooklyn or los angeles (or jersey city). Even people from "Brunswick NJ," don't normally pay for parking Not a single business in bergen county charges customers to park.
  2. Went to Dollywood for the first time ever this week, Monday and Wednesday. Really disappointed in Lightning Rod and how so much was closed, but obviously the current "staffing environment" is to blame for those other things. Anyway, Thunderhead and Dragonflier were great! We also enjoyed blazing fury, it reminded us a lot of black diamond at knoebels, but with more legit "drops", which caught me offguard . The humidity really got to us so we didn't really spend too much time there either day (and the first day we werent prepared with proper hydration). Not that I saw anyone on this forum talking about it, but the grist mill cinnamon bread that the internet raves over seems to just be cinnabon to me, not that theres anything wrong with that. We did not spend much time in the park, however I can't imagine what this park is like on a busy day. I assume that will make riding every ride (some more than once) take more than 2 hours? Clearly the area (PF/Gburg) mostly close for the time between labor day and leaf peeping season and a bunch of stuff we were looking to check out was closed. Also, the "Rod Run" being this weekend attracted a zillion people to park their "classic" cars and gawk at them, even days before it officially started. I don't mean to sound cranky, its just what happens.
  3. theoretically they could limit the number of cars that park, and hope it somehow correlates to guest attendance numbers?
  4. while i had ridden rolling thunder (SFGA) before, it was my first time at the park in about ten years....and it completely slipped my mind that it was closing. In fact, it was the final day it was operating. I started to get in line but decided the line was too long (!!!!) and did something else! What a mistake.
  5. I kind of recall that the smokehouse place offers a side with your sandwich (possibly even two) and if you get the sandwich without sides, it's cheaper (not advertised). It's probably the "best" place to eat in the park if you dont want the standard fries/burgers/hot dogs, but its not really the greatest thing in the world.
  6. Had a good time bringing my entire family (3 generations) out this past weekend. I've never seen it as crowded as I did on Saturday, it was crazy. I remembered from last year that they had those portable handstamp trailers open on the side of the main window, but they didnt open them until I had waited for a little bit already unfortunately, but whatever. Went to flyers immediately, though my young nephew who I rode with didn't want me to move the sail at all, much less snap it. We then let him drive the old time cars over at gasoline alley, and phoenix was not open at the time. In the end, we were able to go on all four coasters once, waiting a long time for every one except impulse, using the single rider line so we were able to get on immediately (he didn't go on that one). They were running two trains on twister, so even though the line was longer than ive ever seen it (it coming out of the queue!!!), it was still not too bad. The flying turns line was excruciating as they only had 2 trains running, and i swear i've seen it with at least 4, but i could certainly be making that up. When we went to wait on line for haunted mansion (had no idea they were going to have new effects so that was really nice!) it was past the ticket booth. These two older ACErs stood behind us and were like "WHY ARE WE WAITING!? WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" and i was like im on line and they said "WELL WHAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE IN FRONT OF YOU THEY DONT HAVE TICKETS! THEY CANT HAVE TICKETS! LETS GO AROUND THEM!!!!!" and i said "No, they're on line too. We're all on line. This is a line." and he said "IVE NEVER SEEN A LINE THAT WORKED LIKE THIS!!!!" what a guy. Thanks to suggestions on this thread, I got the *Good* pierogies. They were fantastic!! Not deep fried like the ones at the tritater stand, so that was nice. We didn't get around to playing Fascination on saturday, but we went back for a little bit on sunday and were able to play...and the park was just empty. The only thing that I dont like about these off season days is that some of the food stands that I really like are closed: The Aloha stand, the lemon/orangeade stand, and the potato cakes stand near skloosh. But a good time had as always.
  7. long time reader, first time poster. someone posted the famed 'cannonball loop' from action park above, the true classic of 'scary/impossible' water slides. But I feel like everyone forgets the action park speed slides: I'm talking about those suckers on the left. At the top you can see they are covered. Not sure if anyone remembers, or if my memory is even accurate at this point, but from my memory, you sat down with your legs just going straight down, as the slide was a complete 90 degree angle at the top, not your usual you lay down and push off and slide down the sloping slide. This was more of, you throw yourself off the edge, hit the tarp, and slap back onto the slide (which at the time felt like was straight down) and then stuck to it. A truly wild ride, and I feel like it's been lost behind the tales of the cannonball loop and other ridiculous action park moments.
