  1. There was another interesting bit in the interview: The Maurer chairman was hinting that they plan to build the worlds tallest rollercoaster in the near future, and further that it might still take a few years becoming reality but that they are currently working on designs. This matches with earlier statements by Skyline Park owner Joachim Löwenthal, who was also hinting at this project. Seems like it is still on track and becoming more and more realistic. I'm really curious what this is gonna look like. Edit: Oh and the park released a full video of the rendering on its YouTube page:
  2. Yeah.. the GTAs have always been pretty amusing and US centric (Europe says "Hi!"). I always enjoy how their lists counter themselves Just look at this: I personally can't judge the rides on that list since I have not ridden any of them this year. But its funny that places 3-5 don't even make the Top 50 in their categories while other new entries like Taron (32 Steel) and Wildfire (28 Wood) are obviously ranked above them. I'm not expecting statistical wonders here, but get your own lists straight GTAs.
  3. ^Thanks for the regular updates! Cross posting from german forums, because I need more input if my idea is realistic or a tad to crazy. Looking at the track it seems that the train is driving at the side and below of the track. Of course it could be something like an robocoaster, but another idea came to my mind: How about an evolution of the seven dwarfs mine train, where the seats are floorless and can actually rotate a full 360. Of course this wouldn't allow for the highest of speeds to regulate the swinging, but do inverted and normal and with some nice theming this could allow for a nice family friendly ride with a little thrill (Star-Wars Land maybe?). I did some quick sketch up to better explain my idea. Seats can obviously bank in corners to compensate for lateral forces. Red circle = Profile
  4. It's the famous story of "This area is under video surveillance". Anyway, thanks for all the great reports. Looks like you had a great time. Keep them coming.
  5. The german livestream of the Klugheim open ceremony starts in about 10 minutes. You can watch it here on Youtube:
  6. I don't think this has been mentioned here before: The park will be livestreaming its opening ceremony on Wednesday, June 29th at 7pm CEST. It will be view-able via Facebook, Youtube and the parks homepage. Since the information is only posted on the German version of the parks homepage, the stream will probably be in German. This shouldn't keep you from looking at all the pretty stuff though. There are also many more awesome pictures at the link roff posted a few days ago as well as the sub pages for Taron and Raik. The following is probably my favorite.
  7. The official minimum ride restrictions have been confirmed by german kiddy TV-Station Nickelodeon, which is hosting a raffle to win the first ride. Age: 8 years or older Height: 130cm / ~51 inches Source (Click "Jetzt mitmachen") They also have a short video with a few new scenes and what looks like the final employee clothing. (Warning - german kids TV) http://pm7.mtvnn.com/nick-phantasialand/TARON_HD_Crop_17122015.mp4
  8. They mention in the article that they are using harder, louder wheel sets for the first calibration test runs, which have less resistance and will later be replaced. You also never know how a video is mixed, volume wise ... People who witnessed test runs say its super quiet.
  9. MORE DUMMY FACES!!! Source: NRW Parks But yeah ... On a serious note, here is the summary of the last few days: - Taron has been running tests daily (even on sundays) - Theming is comming along nicely in the areas still open - Trucks from the Netherlands have been spotted (Maybe Raik rains arrived!?) New Photos are not possible at the moment because the usual observation points have been closed since the last few test days, but Tobi has been updating his awesome model with the latest changes: On top of the Raik station some new wooden structures keep emerging. Kinda looks like a chapel to me. Raik Entrance/Exit!? View from the other side: The former metal fence on the walkway received some wood treatment as well: In the area that leads to MC more concrete work has been done. It seems that the passage will get some kind of roof. It also seems more and more likely that there will be a restaurant/snack point in that area, especially when considering that the park has had a open position for a kitchen with Bavarian food for a while now, as reported earlier: Source: Phantafriends Edit: Almost forgot: Raik lift has been cleared of scaffolding: Source: NRW Parks with more Pics
  10. Just because its not on TPR, does not mean it doesn't exist Source (20th of March 2016)
  11. I actually see quite a lot of diffences to the trains of Nefeskesen. For easier comparison I made a few corrections to the Taron picture and put it next to a Nefekesen seat. Notice the different form of the seat and the restrain. Also the floor of the train seems to be missing side boarders. Free feet.. Yay Edit: Source Taron Seat Edit2: On second look the seats seem to resemble these of Skyrush much more. Although a little different. Restrains look completely different though. Source Taron
  12. When you enhance the picture you can definetly see train wheels. So yeah I'm sure we will get a full pic of the trains on friday.
  13. Hi, I've been reading here on the forums for quite a while now and thought it was now time to register. Phantasialand has released a article with new pictures, a video and some very interessting new information about Taron. Since most people here probably don't speak German I will translate the most important stuff. Let's start with the information: They have specified their previously very vage statement about the launch: Taron will be the Multi-Launch-Coaster with the most intense LSM-Launch worldwide. Taron will be able to run at temperatures above -10°C (14°F). This is probably the most interesting bit: Taron will feature a completely new "Phantasialand"-train with new sitting position and new restrain system. And here are the pictures and the video: The Video is basicly a slideshow of most of the picutes above: Source: Phantasialand
