we all knew it was coming. We all know how slow they are, they couldnt even do last years water park slides done on time so to think they were gonna do dream street, big wheel, flume, flash, safari hotel and build new mazes for fright fest was way too much. To their credit it looks like everything else will be done this year but atleast we have something new for next year cause they werent gonna be adding anything. Yeah you sold people passes this year on this but this late into the season they probably figure now we can sell them on this next year rather than trying to sell passes on nothing. So now we're one of the parks getting a new coaster. But yeah it is crazy how slow they go compared to like Iron Menace at Dorney who announces something and then starts building and actually gets it open.

Are they even doing HITP this year? I heard maybe not. Never seems like its crowded so is it worth keeping the park open and paying employees? I hope they get it open by Fright Fest's start date in Sept. They put it up so fast but seems like its been at a standstill for a month. And with 1 train if it does open around Fright Fest its gonna be 2 hour waits so hoping they can get it open before then and do the pass holders preview.

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Chris27 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Went to KI for the first time this past week, went to CP first which I've been before and then hit up KI after. really enjoyed this park. The theming and lights with the Carnivale in the front of the park was really nice. I'm not a big show guy but having the country music shows and the bmx show and the parade is a nice touch. I'm from NJ and Great Adventure is my home park and they dont really have that kind of stuff. This park was clean, you had people where they are supposed to be, cleaning the bathrooms, emptying the garbage when its full etc. That kind of stuff is good to see cause you dont always see that at certain parks. Also the food was good, coming from six flags you get a shitty burger and bland fries but here I got burnt ends, mac and cheese, real meals. As for the rides really liked Diamondback and Orion, its not Fury but its a fun ride. I'm not biggest old wooden coaster fan being a bigger guy who has to squeeze into certain rides but I had to ride the Beast since its a Mt Rushmore of wooden coasters. Everyone on lines were saying do the Beast at night, close the park down at 10 after the fireworks and we did that and wow what an experience in the dark. That was such a great ride. Loved Banshee, dont always get to experience that kind of ride cause Batman at Great Adventure doesnt have the bigger seat so getting on that was a treat. But for me the standout was Mystic Timbers. Didnt really know what to expect but man what a ride, you guys have something special with that one. I loved it. I dont always do the re-rides but with that one I had to do it a few times in a row. Camp Snoopy had alot of good stuff for the kids who arent 48 inches or arent ready for bigger rides. Wasnt really that busy, only thing we waited any real amount of time for was the Log flume ride, most everything else was walk on or less than 10 minutes. really lucked out with the weather, the week looked like a total wash but other than some rain at Cedar Point and one 10 min downpour at Kings Island the weather was good. Maybe that kept crowds away. Loved that you can take the train to the water park and back, there werent any real lines there and we got on a few slides. Only disappointment was my nephew wanted to do the human claw machine game and it was open the one day but we didnt do it and the next day it was down and broken, they didnt know what was wrong with it so my nephew couldnt get one of those blow up Aliens. -
Rode JD about 5 times and only the second time was it terrible. Felt like i get stabbed in the left thigh and knife was twisting the entire ride. Couldnt wait for it to end. Dont know what it was about that time but every other time was great. Maybe something about the feet placement. I'm also a bigger guy but it only happened the one time.

Def think HH is gonna get something next year, they need something new there. I'd take a new HH ride and a flat ride in the main park next year and then in 2019 or 2020 we get a big new coaster. A water coaster would be awesome but that might be too big for them so maybe a new tower with a few drop slides.

Went to HH and GA yesterday, was first time I've ever been to HH when it was empty. Never seen it empty like that even on shitty weather days in the summer. Walked on everything and weather was 75 and turned out to have good amount of sunshine. Perfect. Went over to GA after and it was pretty busy but we wanted to get on VR Zumanjaro. First we went on Toro and they are handing out riding tickets. They hand us tickets at the entrance and we walk on and the guy collecting them said they are out of order and we cant go. He made us wait there for 5 minutes while people behind us walked past us. Eventually other tickets were out of order and he just said go. Dont know they are trying to do but it was messed up. ended up getting on Zumanjaro at 3pm and waited for over 2 hours for it. Would have been only about an hour and 20 minutes but the lady completely screwed us. We got right up close to the front and then for some reason they ignored the middle row for VR for 45 minutes. From 4:20 to 5:05 they didnt take one person from the VR row. They'd come over and take the Flash pass people then load up non VR row and they did that for over 40 minutes. People in our row were starting to flip out, why are they ignoring the VR line? There should be a system, load up Flash pass then non VR row and then load VR line. But she just ignored us and then another girl came and she had the system down and loaded us up and did it the right way. Added a good 50 extra minutes to our wait time. The ride ended up being really cool, glad I did it. Wouldnt wait over 2 hours to do it but it was pretty cool.

Good day today, park had more people than I thought but seemed to be spread out nicely cause didnt wait on lines, Ka walked on twice, Zumanjaro walked on, Toro, Nitro etc. Only ride I saw had a line was Joker and we waited longer for food than the rides. Overall a nice day in the park and will be going back once HITP is set up. Ate at Nathans and boy they are slow, its like they have no urgency at all to get the food out quick, that pisses me off.

Not unexpected but park was packed today, was really nice out. We got in pretty early and it wasnt that bad but my brother tried to come at 5:30pm and it took him 2 hours to get into the park, park, through the gates. He had to park in HH lot which was completely full, it was crazy crowded today. Got on a few things, watched an hour for Toro early in the day, few little rides. Waited like 40 min for Dark Knight for my little cousin, never seen that ride that crowded before. But had a good time with the family.

Was down in VA for a wedding this weekend so we decided to hit up the park, my first time here. Was a perfect day, the weather was great and the park was completely dead. Everything was a walk on. Said Volcano was closed when we got there but it ended up opening. We walked on every ride except Volcano which was the longest wait but it was only about 5 minutes. Overall it was good, went on that, forget the name, its like looping starship from Great Adventure which is my home park, miss that ride. Anyway we went on that first and then got stuck when the harness wouldnt open, took 15 min to get them to open it so that wasnt a good start to the day but after that it was good. 305 was great, thats what I wanted to get on, big hill, fast as hell, great turns, no line, rode it 3x in a row. Volcano was really cool, the Flight of Fear was nice, Dominator was smooth, even went on that bobsled ride which I havent been on since 80's at Great Adventure. Like all parks food was expensive, 6.30 for a slice of pizza. We banged out the park in under 4 hours. We would have went for round two and hit everything up again but we had a long drive back to NJ, 7 hours so we left early, we got on everything. Then of course on our way home once we are in NJ on Rt 70 we hit a deer, luckily we skimmed it, we were fine, car was fine and also the deer was fine, ran off, good thing I swerved and it turned and we just rubbed against its body, no damage. Anyway great wedding, big Italian wedding, had a great time and a great trip to KD. Probably wont be back next year, thinking of hitting up New England Six Flags next year and maybe another park but year after that I'd def come back to KD, maybe they'll have a new ride by then. -

going to a wedding in Virginia next weekend so we decided to take a trip out here. Will be my first time at Kings Dominion. Looking forward to it. -
Went on Friday night but only stayed til around 10 cause my nephew was tired. Got on Batman, Nitro and Zumanjaro. Basically went to eat and see the shows and stuff. Like that Dead Mans Party is in the stunt arena now, thats smart. Park was crowded, gone opening fright fest for last few years and we've always done well, never really crowded. I'm not sure but was that because they did pass holders only on the first night in the past? Or maybe we just lucked up last few years cause it was way more crowded on Fri night. There were way more of the people walking around, some good makeup as well. My nephew couldnt take his eyes of this girl. Overall a good night, will be going back on Oct 15th and Halloween weekend cause my cousin is coming in with his kids. Going to a wedding next weekend in Virginia and will be taking my first trip to Kings Dominion so I'm looking forward to that.

Went to the park today, was more crowded than I thought, lots of school trips. Got on Joker twice, waited about 35 to 40 minutes both times. Got 1 full rotation and a a few always rotations, its like the ride stops you from flipping. Felt like we could have flipped around one or two more times but it didnt. Was cool flat ride for what it is, if it flipped one or two more times it would be so much better. I wouldnt wait more than 20-30 minutes for it again. Will say the ride operations were very smooth and fast, they were pumping the cars out really quick. Got on a few other rides but main objective was getting on Joker.

New coaster in 2017 would be great but I dont see it happening, I think HH will get a new slide next year and maybe GA gets a new flat ride or something. HH needs one of those body slides that the floor drops out. Do a new tower with 3 slides would be cool. Got to give people a reason to buy combo passes. Then in 2018 I think a new coaster could happen.

Went yesterday, park wasnt that crowded. all the lights were cool, alot of babies, kids, lines were all walk on. Nitro, Batman, Lantern and Superman all wall on, all multiple rides in a row. Superman at end of the night nobody was on it, rode back row three times and could have stayed on for 5 more times if we wanted. Lights were cool but they didnt light up the Ferris Wheel, thats a mistake. We all thought it would have been really cool if they lit it up even if it wasnt running. Only negative was getting food, lines were crazy long, everyone wanted to use dining pass. We to to J Rockets and I'm telling you it was the worst serve I've ever seen in a park. We ordered, stood in line for 25 minutes without moving an inch while burgers/meals were piling up, everyone was just like WTF? They were having trouble with one lady and my aunt being my aunt started to flip. SHe's yelling at the manager to get moving, food is getting cold, WTF is going on, it was a mess. We waited 35 minutes, its not like line was all the way out the door, we were inside the place and its not big and it still took that long. Of course our food was cold, cold shit fries, cold burger. Wasnt even worth complaining, I regret even going there for food. Wish they kept the backwards batman cars cause the harnesses were bigger, with all my coats etc on I barely fit on batman, the backwards cars had better harnessess. Was cold but not that cold, was cold on the rides. Thought Nitro was running like shit, very slow going over the humps at the end, never felt it that slow before. Was it the car or the cold weather slowing it down? Def gonna go back atleast one more time. Already spent about 40 bucks on food since I got my 2016 dining pass so its already half paid for and its not even next year. So thats gonna end up being a good investment
-
They let 2016 passes be used as an incentive to buy the dining pass for next year. I bought my pass and dining pass already so glad I can use it for the few times I go. My dining pass will have paid for itself before the season is up and I got all next year to use it. Such a great investment for 100 bucks. Plus you get the drink cup and unlimited refills all year.
