Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

On a Saturday? Hm. from past experience, there was one night where at the very end of the night, I rode Dragster four times in a half hour, as it was a complete walkon, minus station. Maverick is usually short right when the park opens, because most people aren't willing to walk from the main entrance all the way back to maverick. So they stop at other things, and Maverick is pretty empty. Millennium Force I've noticed tends to go up and down all day in terms of wait time. I made a quick stop at Rougarou before Millie once right in the morning and I waited about 20 minutes, but then by the time I was off of MF the line was an hour. The line also tends to thin out a bit right at the end of the night, which IMO is the best time to ride it. -
Michigan's Adventure doesn't need any more water rides. They already have the waterpark! Honestly the water park is great as it is, and they seriously need to give the ride side some attention. I don't care what it is, any kind of big coaster is fine by me. I would even go for a GTX because they're small but pack a punch. If it were up to me I would put something going around the back of the park. Or just tear out the railroad to nowhere and connect that path. It is such a pain to have to walk around the whole park to get to Thunderhawk from Shivering Timbers. Like waiting for the train is a pain and the ride doesn't do anything interesting.

Whenever I ride Mean Streak I make sure to sit in the front row, or at least the front row of a car near the fron of the train. That is where the smoothest ride is. I rode Mean Streak twice this weekend and the first time I rode in the very front row, and I was pleasantly surprised as to how smooth it was. Two years ago I rode it and it made my back cramp up and I vowed to never ride it again, but after reading comments on various forums saying that it was better this year I decided to give it one more chance and I ended up really enjoying myself. I would never be against an RMC treatment, but I think that whatever it is that they are doing to the ride has been working. I went back to Mean Streak later in the day to ride again, and it actually had a half hour wait, which is rare even on the busiest of days. But it was pretty uncrowded so I was surprised. The second time I rode in the second row of the first car I believe, which was bumpier than the other ride but still not painful. To other people I was with rode in the first row of the second car and ended up having a lot of fun and remarking about how smooth it was in that row. I think it really depends on where you sit, but in the future I would say try for the front row of a car near the front of the train, because that seemed to do the trick for me. -

Yeah I've been there. The last row on Blue Streak can get pretty rough. Still fun though, but rough indeed. The worst part is the first airtime hill, that heaves the riders up into the restraints. If there were no restraints on Blue Streak everyone would get thrown out instantly lol. But the airtime is fun so I can't complain. I just tighten my seatbelt really tight and that seems to help. -

No water rides yet. And the same thing I posted previously happened AGAIN on Wicked Twister. Except this time no line jumping pass. -

Wicked Twister just opened. And then after the first train was emergency stopped, it closed again. We waited in the station for about fifteen minutes, just waiting to see what was up. The ride ops brought out a battery pack cord of some type and plugged it into a thing on the top of each car which released the restraints. Then they moved the train back out of the station and some mechanics came out to look at it. There was a sensor of some variety at the back of the station that they were looking at, and a mechanic got up on a ladder and was working on it. There were some wires and stuff and they were screwing some stuff in or something. My guess is that the sensor tripped or something and caused an emergency power outage which stopped the train and stopped automatic restraint unlocked. So that may be what it up. The ride op said this keeps happening and no one knows why. On the upside, they gave us vouchers for front of the line ride on anything, so we went front row on MF. Thanks Wicked Twister -

I'm at the park today, and it is a great day. The lines are actually fairly short, I only waited 20 minutes for MF which at the time was running two trains. The yellow train is back in operation now, which is really nice. There were a few blue parts laying under the brake run, but nothing significant looking. There was literally no line for Maverick when I was there, but I waited for front row so it added about 15 minutes. But still, 15 minutes for Maverick is nothing. Maverick had one train off the track though, and one of the trains had a closed front row so that was kind of annoying. The new restraints make a huge difference, even though I've never had a problem with it. When I got off though the line was probably 30-40 minutes. Gemini is running both sides, but the 'racing' factor isn't really working out so well. Mean Streak was awesome though, which was really strange. I was expecting to have to ride defensively but the ride was really smooth and it was a nice surprise. We rode front row on that so I can't say how well the rest of the train was, but when ride ops asked how was the ride there was cheering instead of groans. Usually there is always that one guy who yells, "MY LEEGG" like the guy from Spongebob byt this time there wasn't even that. It was a walk on as usual, but whatever they've been doing to it has been working because it was painless. There were even a few good airtime moments. However they were only running the red train and the nasty gold/yellow/cream colored train. The red train was on the transfer track, but not actually on the track just sitting on top of it. Magnum had only two trains running though, which was an inconvenience but really not a big deal, only one queue was full. Dragster has been on and off all day, as expected, and when I walked past I saw it backing into the station. It hasn't been up in about an hour. I believe Corkscrew was only running the red train and the white train, although no one really cares anyway. Gatekeeper was down briefly, but I think someone threw up because only one empty train was sent, presumably to dry it off. Wicked Twister hasn't run all day, but I've been eyeing it anxiously. Rougarou was a blast though, and I think it made up for WT's stupidity over the past week or so. There's a few school groups and stuff here, but for the most part the park is pretty uncrowded. I'm taking a break for lunch now, but I've already gotten quite a few rides in with minimal waiting. Also, Skyhawk is open, both sides!! Finally! Let's hope this is the last major issue it ever has. So far things are going pretty well here at CP, let's just hope that Dragster and Wicked Twister open because I love them both. -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
maverick_cp replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Skyrush in the back row, left winged seat. That's my favorite seat on the whole train -
I hope it is something unique like Skyrush. There are tons of B&M hypers out there and most of them are pretty much the same type of thing. I hope it is like Skyrush, but since that seems to be a longshot, maybe something like Lightning Run except on a larger scale would be good. A generic Intamin would be nice, but I want it to be something different. The BG parks already have enough similarities, and least Sea World can try to be different I hope. Does anyone knows where this coaster might be located in the park? That could help us narrow down the possibilities.

Best B&M and Best Intamin

Intamin: Skyrush tied with Millennium Force B&M: Montu tied with Gatekeeper -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

When I went I originally called a hotel in Harrisburg, a really cheap motel type of thing if I remember correctly. I also had a reservation set at the Quality Inn in Hershey, and when I called and told them that I had a cheaper price they matched it. Good hotel, average breakfast though. I would recommend it but don't expect any gourmet cooking, most of the stuff was probably frozen but at least edible. -

I feel like if WT were getting new restraints, something would've been announced, like Maverick. As to why there would even be the possibility of new restraints I do not know, because from all the times I've been on WT there hasn't been any discomfort other than the expected side-throwing from going 70mph into a twist. I hope they get it up and running, although I highly doubt it will be before my first visit for the season. With all the mysterious matinence going on it is no secret that they have fallen WAY behind on testing I have watched the webcams religiously and there hasn't been much activity other than curious parkgoers. Get well soon WT! In other news, can anyone tell me how crowds are the Friday before Memorial weekend(May 22)? That's the day I'm looking into going, and I'm hoping it will be light because Ohio schools aren't out yet and the people going to the park Memorial weekend would probably be going on like Saturday Sunday or Monday. I just don't want it to be crowded because lines are evil lol.
