List the parks you have visited in 2010

I can't wait to hear all the ridiculous guest complaints when they find out there is no "Harry Potter Theme Park". Universal is about to get major backlash when thousands of people discover that it's all just a themed land inside a pre-existing park. Especially when the only ride built specifically for the land isn't even open yet. What I find even more ridiculous is that Disney is actually sprucing up the magic kingdom, something they never do (Disneyland is 16 years older and looks better). Does it really take the investments of a competitor to make them reinvest in their own image when they should be doing that anyways? I want to move to California!

That photo released by Universal must have been doctored because I just visited IOA today and peeked through the fence. The end of the rail blocker thing (don't know what it's called) wasn't there and the suitcases were missing. Obviously they would save the suitcases until the land is closer to opening since it's a prop. Also, I noticed that the entrance to the Forbidden Journey has gone vertical, complete with the winged hogs. Forgot to bring my camera though so no pics, sorry.

I went to HHN twice already (Friday and Saturday) and both nights they were testing the ride using the conveyor belt loading system. I asked a few employees at the line entrances to the houses and they said that they don't know when it will open for HHN. But if they are testing it now with all the newly arrived trains along with the loading system, it should open soon. I just hope that they turn off those damn trim brakes. It completely defeats the purpose of a roller coaster. Like on BTMR, the train is already too long and too heavy for anyone to feel significant speed or force, why slow it down!? If anything they need power wheels like on the Matterhorn. Sorry, just sayin.

HHN was amazing this year. The Wolfman and Ripped from the Silver Screen houses were definitely my favorites. I have still yet to experience SAW (which I'm really looking forward to) and Bill and Ted's, but I'm sure they are great. Of all the houses I have experienced, I'd have to say the most messed up/ disorienting house was the Spawning. For the last half of that house, I couldn't see anything, or navigate through without grabbing onto the stranger in front of me! Good thing I'm not epileptic. It's also important to note that they have finally figured out an organized queue layout for the soundstages. It seems that for the past 2 years, the lines were crammed between the stages and seemed unorganized, but this year, the line entrances are placed further apart and each house has its own queue area. I don't know why it's a big deal to me, but it makes me happy. If only they could find a way to hide scarectors going on break from the sprung houses. It kills the mystery when you see all the characters walking out from the buildings! My only real disappointment (that doesn't really have anything to do with the houses or scare zones) is the fact that HRRR never opened, even though they clearly advertise it on the maps. Apparently they have been testing the conveyor loading system, so maybe it will open next weekend.

I have seen both versions; DL new overhauled and WDW's. I have to say they equally have their high and low points. Firstly, I like WDW's stadium location because it makes it more of an "event". The crowd was practically doing the wave as if we were about to watch a game. Even the actual stage is better: a mountain compared to a cabin. I liked DL a little better because it's incorporated in the park, and because the sequences were better. It seemed to all make more sense compared to the WDW version. That spotlight in the beginning gave me chills. I was disappointed with the ending. WDW definitely has the better ending (murphy doesn't count yet). Nothing beats mickey on top of a freaking mountain, sending off fireworks. -
The Cinderella Attraction looks like the beginning of the Haunted Mansion, with the stretching rooms. Possibly the mansion where she was a slave to her stepmother and sisters. Why are they building a Cinderella Attraction when her freaking Castle is the park's main icon? I understand Aurora, Belle and Ariel, but why the emphasis on her? All of the other attractions look like either walk-throughs, meet and greets, or possibly some kind of new interactive stuff. With the economy still not so great, I don't see why they WOULDN'T start selling adult drinks at the MK like at Gaston's Tavern. Also, it looks like Snow White and Pooh are getting brand new queues like what they did for Disneyland's dark rides. Finally. So...where is Enchanted or The Frog Prince in these plans?
-
Yeah, those large white circular things inside the building are the 3D projector screens, similar to the Spiderman ride. I figured they would be bigger than that but I guess it's hard to tell from that perspective. The Castle facade is going right up in that corner, but im sure some of it will stretch onto the building. Either way, it's going to be 199 feet tall. 200 would require a distracting red light for air-traffic. I can't wait to see it completed!

I know right. I'm just glad they are not getting rid of the actual ride. Fire and Ice are the best coasters in the whole resort. As for "Hagrid's Hippogrif (sp?) ride", that should turn out interesting. My friend told me that, apparently, at the exit of the roller coaster ride, a full-size hippogrif animatronic will BOW to you! I wish the construction people would move faster!

SPOILERS* I really shouldn't say anything, but my friend has sculpted some of the set peices for the new Harry Potter attraction that is being built inside the Hogwarts building. He only told me a few things about it... A) It is a Kuku Robotic Arm ride, the seating will be like a bench, not the opposed "Weasly car". B) You travel through many sets throughout the Potter book series such as the Black Forest, The chamber of secrets (you go through the mouth of that giant face sculpture where the basilisk comes out), and the giant spider den in the forest where you get up-close and personal with one of the spiders. C) You wear 3D glasses, and it will be like The Adventures of Spider-man but on crack/ steroids with giant screens combined with the intricate scenery. As for Dueling Dragons, as of now it is going to be renamed The "Fighting Dragons" and will be based off the dragons in the Triwarzarding Cup. The actual cup will be on display where the book is in the circular tower room near the beginning of the castle queue. Thats all i know!

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
drewelap replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My friend Blake works at Disney's Hollywood Studios at the Indy stunt show as an usher/line attendant and he gets asked such questions as: 1) Who is Indiana Jones? 2) There are no more shows after 5? (there is a huge show-time sign next to the line entrance) 3) (Near end of day) Is this the exit to the park? 4) Where is the Indiana Jones Ride? (To this he replied "Well u have to go to the Orlando Int. Airport and book a flight to California...") 5) What's Star Wars and why is it on the weekends? 6) Is this ride scary? All in all Disney World guests are Fu***** morons. I know they are tourists but don't you think they would find out what things are at the parks before visiting? -
I went there wednesday when they opened the ride and i waited for about an hour and a half, although the line felt like it moved fast thanks to Krusty's Favorite Moments playing on the amazing tv screens. It was nice to watch and hear everyone bust out laughing, however the video segment only last for about an hour then replays The preshow was quite amazing, I went on the second level and i thought the preshow video was a perfect set-up. The ride itself was amazing! When u are lifted up to the screen level you keep going, and going, and going. I won't give anything away but i have to say the most surprising part of the ride is when we are sucked on by a giant baby and we could actually smell the baby! Overall the ride was amazing, i personally think its better than bttf and I'm glad they built it.

Splash Mountain History/Interesting Facts?
drewelap replied to sfmmrules!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My friend was trained on spash mountain and one of the first things they tell u is one time a while back there was an E-stop on the 3rd drop (after the dark roller coaster style drop) where a man decided to get out of the log! When the log started to go down the drop, the man tried to jump back in but fell down the chute and got ran over by the second log! And now the drop is haunted! Also, at the top of the big drop, where the rocks jut out, on the of rocks looks like Mickey's nose... Look to the right of the top of the track, its mickey's nose! -
Yeah the Rocky Horror Picture Show is a musical tribute to the movie. Basically they perform the movie and show clips/pictures as they do so. The music is trippy and i thought the actors were dead on. (I wasnt high or anything too) -Plus i thought it was pretty funny that they WANTED people to join in on shoutouts and stuff like that, ie- shouting slut or asshole out loud and not getting in trouble for it! lol

I think you west coasters are going to like orlando's this year; the houses are insane. Definitly do "The Thing" house, it was my favorite out of the three i got to go through lol. A Nightmare on Elm street as good but i couldnt see S*** and i only recognized a few scenes. Also, find time for the Rocky Horror Picture Show! Scantly clad HOT people dancing around on stage singing...it was awesome
-
ok i only went through Nightmare, Chainsaw, and The Thing, and i must say that i was slightly disapointed with nightmare. I realy only recognized the first 3 scenes and everything else was just dark. Plus I only saw Freddy maybe 3 times. I couldnt really see him to much so i cant really say how legit the face makeup was. Chainsaw was scarrier than Nightmare was. I mean you could really smell the carnage throughout the house and it was sick! Plus the ending was great. The Thing was WAYYY better then the others. It was random, and creepy, and for being in a small tent, it felt very long. I had to force my friend through becuase she was terrified. Bill and Ted's was funny but not as good as last year's. I liked how the theme was celebrity screw ups though. Oh and if they werent allowed to use captain jack sparrow and elizabeth swan in the show, then how were they allowed to use them last year? This time in the show "Capt Jack" is spoofed with "blades of glory". Idk
