All that matters really is how wide open this kind of infrastructure work will make Valleyfair for future expansion of whatever kind. This is the best kind of park work! -

Excalibur will be safe for the remainder of the season. They've got a ton of other work to do before they rip that coaster down I'm excited about the possibility of the berm actually enclosing most of the property. That means that if they want to, they can have new coasters extend beyond the berm if they're designed like Renegade to be compatible with flooding; all they'd need within the berms are the stations and hardware/machinery. This really opens up the possibility for BIG coasters. And with all that extra land now, even with a new parking lot the waterpark can triple in size and leave room for new coasters. And who knows, we may get a coaster over the new waterpark entrance. Ahhhhh, I'm so excited to see what happens next! -

Seconded. Maybe it didn't go as well as they had hoped? Or perhaps they're waiting until sometime in June to give a nice summation of the openings...along with a recipe for summer burgers or something -

They could rename it Ragnarock but it's in the "Western" themed area to boot! I completely agree about Valleyfair lacking decent signage. They could take a page out of Dorney's book and get fantastic signs for the big-ticket attractions at least. People love to pose with cool signs (Excalibur's most superior quality). More photo ops for the GP=more free publicity when those photos are shared online. -

Great observations. Saw something somewhere quoting Ouimet as stating that the major focus for Cedar Fair is improving the midway experience, and that seems to be a chainwide initiative. I expect to see troubled midways systematically revamped when any new ride/attraction is placed nearby, with new finishes, flower beds, or what have you. The two areas you identified have great potential for improvement, especially the first one! Could tie in with whatever improvement project is planned for the amphitheater. -

I've read somewhere that Carowinds got some substantial help from tourism tax breaks and whatnot from one of the Carolinas...if Shakopee/State of Minnesota is willing to cut some tax money, then Valleyfair may see a significant amount of new investment. They did for the Mall of America. If Valleyfair does become a next-level park, that can only enhance the tourist economy for the state. -

Hydroblaster is a good name, but I don't know if it's good enough to recycle back into the waterpark attached to a new slide complex...at least not so soon after the old one was removed. But what do I know? Since Carowinds is pretty much "confirmed" to be getting a waterpark expansion in 2016, I think we'll get the same. Whatever they get, we'll probably get a more compact version of, same as 2015 with the massive KD waterpark expansion. Cedar Fair will most likely cut a deal with whoever is the supplier for a bulk purchase. It makes financial sense that way. -

I will second the B&M flyer, I think they are extremely underrated. Valleyfair would do well with one. -

Where is all this supposed digging in the back of the park taking place? I'm extremely curious. -

What were some of the questions on the survey? Typical survey questions, really. Rating different aspects of service on importance and letting them know how they're doing. Asking for suggestions on how to improve, if the meal plans were purchased or souvenir bottles, merchandise... Something that I found interesting was that they asked if the parking was satisfactory, which seemed a bit odd as I have never seen the lot full. Makes me think that they might be looking to eat into the parking lot for expansion, honestly. I did push for a new coaster where the survey allowed for that sort of feedback. Hoping others do the same. -

I so want to get on that train, but the waterpark entrance is also back past Chickie's and Pete's. Maybe they are anticipating a boost in waterpark visits. -

They better do a blog for the waterpark opening next weekend at least. Missed opportunity for the dry park's opening weekend....maybe they will combine it into a more massive blog entry. -

I think this was brought up before wayyyyy back, but what about removing Supercat? It never seems very popular and I think people walk right by it more often than not. That ride's spot could be used for something new--I still want a proper Teacups, but that won't happen lol. I think everyone agrees that Larson flyers would do well at VF. Anywhere they think to put them would probably work, except the very back of the park (invert, launcher or RMC plz). They're very photogenic and interesting to watch. -

If Excalibur were gone, would anyone really notice? I'm thinking no.... Maybe they could sell it to a park in need. I don't know who would take it though. But reflecting on Valleyfair's investments, Dinos Alive= $3 mil Route 76=$2 mil (i think?) Waterpark additions= $6 mil.... If the park didn't make those investments, they'd have at least $11 mil to throw at a rollercoaster. But I think they made the right call in holding off a coaster and improving everything else. Valleyfair looks significantly better every year at this rate. When we do get a new coaster, the park will be that much better. Hoping the waterpark additions will have a great ROI so we can see a major coaster addition in the next few years ! -

First row on Corkscrew is always a good ride, haven't done the fifth row though. I also have to say that FunTV seems to be improving every time I go, it really helped while waiting for Renegade. You can hear music just about everywhere in the park now with the additional speakers. The atmosphere in the park is much more lively as a result. It's been a terrific off-season obviously, cannot wait to see/hear how the waterpark performs as the season progresses. -

I rode Space Shot Saturday, and the lines at Power Tower were fine. It seemed like they had more experienced staff on hand for the day. The biggest problem was Renegade, running one train with very slow dispatches. I wouldn't be surprised if the back of the park got an overhaul next year, it's one of very few places in the park left that need some work. I think it may be connected to additional waterpark expansion. But when I rode Excalibur I was thinking about how conveniently large the station is. It feels larger than Renegade's and I don't think that's just because it's so empty, it's a very big station compared to most in the park...perfect to recycle for a new RMC or perhaps even an invert? I must say that I like Excalibur's trains. They are so nice, it's a shame about the rest of the ride after that first drop though. Beats me up lol. Overall, Saturday was great. You couldn't tell that there was a lack of staff, unlike Six Flags. Great job! -

Anybody remember when the cones were spotted in the parking lot last year? I know someone posted an image with an outline of the area coned off...I can't find it as I go through the past pages. First world problems. What do you think the likelihood is that the park's website will have a blog post for opening weekend? -

Crane is back by the waterslide tower. Looks like they're finally going to put up the blue tarps at the top like in the concept art.
