So I've wondered this for a very long time. Keep in mind I have nothing against Universal for doing this at all! If anythimg, B&M did a very good job with it. And it's my favorite coaster next to Maverick. But just, why did they go with B&M to build it if they can't do launch coasters? Why couldn't they have gone with another company like Intamin or Premier Rides that can do launches, rather than have the hastle of finding another company to do the launch? Wouldn't that have made things easier? Does it have to do with the concept design or reliability? I'm just curious.

Worst Coaster Ever?

Corkscrew at Cedar Point! Oh lord where do I begin? First off, rough coasters don't bother me as long as they just have a lap bar. Even some with shoulder restraints tend to not bother me because of my height (I'm 6, 1) because my head comes above the restraint. But when the restraints aren't very tall person friendly like this thing, it forces you down into your seat only to jerk you around vigorously and it killed my neck! Never again! -

I don't think repainting will help. -
I've heard many people complain about the cobra roll on that ride. This is a first. I agree that Alpengeist's cobra roll is a great element. It's amazingly snappy. The only Cobra roll I like better is Kumba's. Well, I can't wait to go to Busch gardens Tampa next summer. I've ridden hulk which is kinda similar except different layout and it has a launch and I do really enjoy the zero G and the cobra roll on that coaster (I also love the vertical loops and Horse shoe or whatever that inversion is after the MCBR). So I bet I'd like Kumba! Generally rough coasters don't bother me as long as they don't have OSTR's, and even some that do, mainly the ones that B&M and Intamin uses, because of my height some rattling doesn't bother me like what Hulk and Maverick do and those are my two favorite coasters. But like the OSTR's that push down on me like Corkscrew (built by Arrow Dynamics) and that are just so rough like that ride, owie!

Well, the ones with loops and lap bars that I have a chance of riding would be Goliath at SFGAm, Flight of Fear at KI, Dare Devil Dive at SFOG as well as Mind bender, and Scorpion at BGTB, all those parks I have plans on going to soon. Also, I haven't ridden Kumba yet but I have a wayyyy better chance of going to Busch gardens here in my home state Florida, then all the way in another country (Spain). I do hear that Kumba is rough though. I wouldn't be surprised if Kumba is rough now (it was awesome when I rode it like 15 years ago though), even Alpengeist that was mentioned above is kinda rough now IMO (I think it being so forceful does it no favours). Scorpion is fun though! some helix and loop action which are my favourites. I really don't like cobra elements. I was really stoked to hear about the 5000 loops in a row in that the onion article Kumba has been around for awhile though it Is a B&M. I rode the Incredible hulk roller coaster last week and it is getting slightly rattle, especially in the back, which to me makes it more intense but I know many people 9like my boyfriend who's much shorter than me and has the head banging problem) don't enjoy it as much but we actually found Dragon Challenge worse. And that's the same age as hulk but man it's getting jerky!

I've never ridden a coaster that went upside down without OSTR's. But I will (hopefully) be going to Six Flags Great America in October for Frightfest. Goliath looks like a sweet ride which is why I'm going. Hangime is the best! I've only ridden one coaster with inversions (well, one) and lap bars: sooperdooperlooper. In two weeks I'll be going to Madrid and I'll ride another (Abismo at Parque De Atracciones de Madrid). Is your favorite ride Dragon Khan? Yes! It's B&M at their best. The ride is reasonably forceful, fairly long and has a lot of inversions without being repetitive whatsoever. Plus the zero g roll is the best I've ever tried: it's very fast yet it does really provide weightlessness which some of the others I've tried failed to do. If you haven't ridden it, it should be like Kumba (which I sadly haven't been on yet). Well, the ones with loops and lap bars that I have a chance of riding would be Goliath at SFGAm, Flight of Fear at KI, Dare Devil Dive at SFOG as well as Mind bender, and Scorpion at BGTB, all those parks I have plans on going to soon. Smoothest Coaster You've Ridden?
TheHalonSystem replied to TheDark8's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well I know that shorter people do get some head banging from It. It's bouncy but I think it's supposed to be that way. Smoothest for me I'd have to say Corkscrew..........JK! That thing is just AWFUL! But the smoothest I've ridden is in the same park! Gatekeeper! -
So, I know that many coaster enthusiasts like airtime more than inversions and pretty much any element. But I gotta be honest, I love them both pretty much equally! There's just a real thrill that I seem to get out of going upside down. It feels amazing to me when inverting and actually feeling pinned to your seat by the G's. Airtime is one of those things that I do really enjoy as well but I feel I can get more places, like a swing set. But for this reason I do really like zero G rolls, although classic vertical loops are my favorite. I also like Cobra rolls, Inclimens, and horse shoes (or whatever they're called). Just, it always seems unique to me being upside down like that and you don't feel the same way being upside down anywhere else.

Hi, I'm Kathleen. I'm probably one of the few females on here. I wanna say I'm very different from other coaster enthusiasts. I have not been to very many parks at all, thus why my coaster count is only 36 including defunct and children's coasters. However, I do know quite a bit about coaster stuff though, like who makes them and how they operate. I even know about lots of coasters I haven't ridden. Favorite amusement park, Cedar Point. Favorite manufacturer, Bolliger and Mabilard. Favorite coaster, Tie between Maverick, and the incredible hulk. Favorite element, Vertical loop. Least favorite element, I'm not really a fan of helices or overhauled turns that pull a whole bunch of G's and make you black out.I like G's on inversions though. I'm not too crazy about fire effects either. I love going upside down! And coming out of my seat. Well, I'll probably post more about my coaster likings in other forms on my profile. Any ride suggestions, tips, questions are always welcome!

Hi, my name is Kathleen. I joined this site yesterday. So I'm still figuring it out. But there are a few things that make me different from other enthusiasts. To start, I've only ridden 36 coasters in my life, including defunct and kid coasters. So obviously I've only been to a few parks including fairs. However, I've known quite a bit about coaster since I was a child. Everything from how they run to who manufactures them. My favorite company is Bolliger and Mabilard. I have a tie between Maverick at Cedar Point and the Incredible hulk at Islands of Adventure as my favorite coasters. I love going upside down as well. And coming out of my seat. I actually find them both equally thrilling so you'll notice that most of my favorite coasters go upside down. For me, it's hard to come out with a top 10, especially because most of them would only be at one park (Cedar Point) simply because I haven't been to very many theme parks at all. Also, I'm not a fan of extreme positive G's on helices or overbanked turns, but I love them on inversions! Not a fan of blackouts though. Another thing, I do not like vertical lift hills, like Hollywood rip ride rockit. I do like vertical drops though. Fire effects are fine as long as they don't go above my head like Revenge of the mummy. But here is the thing people find the most interesting about me. I am not bothered by rough coasters usually. Mainly if they just have a lap bar. Even some with OSTR's don't bother me because I'm so tall unless the restraint pushes hard on my shoulders like Corkscrew at CP. In fact, for any of you that know what a B&M rattle is, I actually kind of enjoy it. Makes rides seem more intense to me if a coaster rattles a bit. So my tastes are different from most coaster enthusiasts. I seem more like the general public. But I know lots of coaster stuff. But would you call me a coaster enthusiast even though I only consider myself one because of what I know about coasters and I love them so much? Well, I'll probably post more on some of these topics. Feel free to ask questions, give tips, and suggest rides I might like.

Well, I haven't ridden too many coasters in my life. Rough coasters don't bother me as long as they just have a lap bar and even some with OSTR's are fine because I'm so tall. But I'd have to go with Corkscrew at Cedar Point because the restraint just pushed on my shoulders so hard and pinned me to the seat so there was no escape from the brutal shakiness of the ride!
