Thanks ZIP that was fun. There is definitely one you are missing 1989 most likely, I think it was the Smithereens. I remember well because the GF recently had knee surgery and I had to push her in a wheelchair up the hill.(that was awful) Outside chance it was +/- a year, but I am certain whatever the show was it is not in the list. It is just impossible the two of us would have gone to any of those bookings listed in 88-90 and I know it was alt rock. My wife has worked in radio for 20 years and digital music has changed the concert scene greatly. There was a time when the goal of most most acts when touring was not to make money but promote album sales. As revenue dried up with mp3 they were forced to change the business model and make their money off the tours. -

Brilliant. They could then move a LIM over to Boomerang and have 2 new coasters in 2015. -

I have been cloned, I said the same thing in July. Of course it is funnier when you say it. Just imagine how many more years they could have gotten out of Toms Twister. -

^^^ Can I leap that tall building in a single bound? Monday Mucho Nacho was closed as well as the burger shack at HH. I would have closed the crummy pizza place first. Suspect the issue was staff shortages. -
Rides You Can't Ride?
Sf-Dad replied to DoinItForTheFame's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My park experience is very limited but the one thing I absolutely refuse to ride is Wahoo Racer at SFSTL HH. It is a on your belly mat slide. I think I just have to much mass as every hill I get excellent airtime but the landing is just brutal as I must come down on the flat part and my knees and elbows just can't take that kind of punishment. I am retired. I had more fear trying that ride again earlier this summer than I did doing a face first 50' rappel off an overhang cliff at Boy Scout Camp. My boys want to bring a video camera for the speed slides as I apparently create the largest splash they have ever seen. Not me, but same cliff. -

If you are having these problems at 26 you need to find a new hobby. -

I learned a few things tonight. Christians like to travel in packs 8-10 wide. They don't all go to the MercyMe concert. There are still such things as "Christian Warriors" (I don't get that). SF needs to change the name to Mr. Hot and Humid: Blast Furnace. I now know how much it really sucks to to wait for a half hour in a hot building and they have "minor technical difficulties" when you get to the gate. Never ever park in the west lot when you are going to close the park down. Never ever let them put cheese directly on the tortilla chips. They are so thin they instantly turn to goo. No need to buy a wristband for drink refills, I only had to pay for one refill. A new worlds record, I went to SF and spend a total of $1.07. I won't miss Scooby Doo, at least not in its crippled 1/2 capacity state. I like American Thunder a bit more each ride. -

Wonder why? Because it's Six Flags. Why do you think they would expand west when they own a ton of land already to the east? -
When Did Six Flags Go Bad?
Sf-Dad replied to Rollercoaster Rider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree the name change was stupid but come on. It is in St. Louis County and what is considered the metropolitan area. There is very little left IN the City of St. Louis. With some 90 or so municipalities in STL County And the vast majority of the population outside the city limits are we to say " I don't live in St. Louis, I live in Twin Oaks, Missouri. (Population 392)." -

We took the boys last year during the day and other than a few hay bales laying around it didn't seem any different than June. I understand daytime is more tame but a few hay bales scattered around concerns me about evening. If I take my oldest (12) at night I should expect to pay the $15 to see something more? -

This was in the park email I just received. Looks fun, but not without my boys. Must be 18. All 9 coasters in 6 hours. 8pm-2am. http://content.sixflags.com/news/entersweepstakes.aspx?c=sixhourcoaster&utm_source=park-newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=SFSL&utm_content=2014-08-06 -

No kidding, especially because we are just over halfway through Summer. Fall doesn't start until September 23rd. These schools are stealing our Summers from us. I think the problem is HVAC. My grade school did not have air conditioning and havering class in August would have been a nightmare. -

I haven't heard about an expanded winter break but will look into it. Parkway started 8/13 last year and 8/12 this year. edit: Parkway is getting a full two weeks winter break same as last year. 12/13 looked like it was a couple of days shorter. -

Very true and I am sure they are strangled by the start of the school year. The Truancy Police have bigger guns than SF Security, I don't think Security would last long in a direct confrontation. When I was a kid school started after Labor Day. At least these kids get one holiday in over the summer, though I am sure there are those conspiring to put the 4th in Jeopardy. I suppose the same profit rule applies to the 8 o'clock closing. We went over to JB's at 7:15 and it was dead and I noticed Character Cafe was closed and well as a few other things I can't recall right now. Enough people are trying to get their kids back on a strict schedule I suppose and don't stay at the park. I would imagine most vacations are over by now as well so those 5-10 families a day that treat SFSTL as a destination park are not around. -

We tried to get a ride just before 7 tonight with only about 8 people outside the building in line, we were barely at the TV 20 minutes later and just gave up as I didn't want to miss our dinner window. Must be down to a one boat operation now. I know it sucks. They should just call Kelly Services and get some temps in for the Fridays. They couldn't do any worse than Scooby was run this evening. Last weekday operation is the 12th and that is the start of school for Parkway. Yeah! I get to go on a single rider coaster blitz and I won't have to ride in the middle train every time because it is "safer". I also don't have to be a role model for my kids so I can run-amuck like a teenager and be a total jerk. (Just kidding) Warning on Park hours!! Don't trust the hours Google displays, check the actual website. Google is stating the park is open until 9 all week, it is not, only 8. -

You will just bring the five supplies (per ticket) to a tent that will be between metal detection and the ticket booths. Once you turn in your items, you will receive a coupon that you will then take up to the ticket booths. The most needed items include paper, pencils, crayons, markers, and glue/tape. Please do not bring scissors as they can not be allowed past security. The discount itself will make your ticket $29.24 plus tax. The supply drive will be going on August 4-8 and August 11-12. Markers but not scissors past security? But they took my Sharpie away! A crafty bugger could also cause a lot more mayhem at the park with some superglue than a marker or scissors. -

^Valid points regarding lasting popularity and MineCraft certainly leans more to the boys. Has to be gender neutral as well. In the circles my kids run in there just doesn't seem to be much interst in the superheroes. I am sure SF does their research on what the pulse is.
