  1. Fred Grubb said RMC is booked for the next couple years, right? After this announcement, I'm very excited for possible 2015 RMC projects in the U.S. To me it seems that Six Flags is 100% on the RMC train (pun intended), and MM and Gadv are the only major parks left without an RMC coaster.
  2. RMC is really doing things that nobody saw coming even three or four years ago. Intamin redefined what ejector airtime is on steel coasters and wood coasters in the 2000's (and laterals with I305), and it looked like Intamin woodie would be as extreme and certainly as fast as we could go. Now, multiple records are simultaneously broken by a single company without competition, and has changed the outlook on wooden coasters in only two years (i.e. Outlaw Run).
  3. Or maybe you just need to traaaaaaaaaaaavel! I have no moneeeeeeeyyyyy SFGadv is due for a new woodie in 2015 or 2015! We can always hope... They got Rolling Thunder in 1979 and El Toro in 2006. I'm thinking they probably aren't due for a new woodie for a while! (Not that I wouldn't mind, just being realistic!) True, I guess I just hope they don't just plop down another B&M... RMC-Intamin buyout? (Sarcasm)

  5. Why won't RMC build anything on the east coast? That would be son much easier for me. SFGadv 2015?
  6. Yes, SEEMS to be the most popular even though it is a capacity nightmare compared to any park with any ride. Period. No questions asked. You're missing the point. The point is that it IS an insanely popular attraction. People are willing to wait for it. If all it takes is a 1000-1500 people to create a 3 hour queue line, it isn't actually that popular. It just means it has horrible throughput. Hell, does the park even have sign boards telling people how long the wait is? Fiesta Texas didn't have them for anything when I was there 2 weeks ago. The fact is that those people would rather wait three hours for SORA than less for a coaster.
  7. Sorry, been out of the loop on this announcement, what time will it be announced? If it's midnight eastern time I'm considering staying up. I think its 4am Eastern time! Darn. Guess I'll check when I get up at 6.

  9. I think a big part of the criticism is where the coaster is located and what symbolizes set the expectations far too high. People expected GateKeeper to be just as OMG awesome as CP's last 3 coasters, which not only would be nearly impossible, but isn't what it was built for. People complain its forceless and has no airtime, then go ride Maverick.
  10. The same is true for Goliath at SFGam. Last fall when they announced it, all people could say was how it could have traversed the perimeter one more time given the space they have, or other things along those lines. I305 is another prime example. Do people complain I305 is too short nowadays? Not really.
  11. I was just going to comment on the same thing. That being said, the park does seem to be taking some small steps in the right direction. Hopefully that continues. I was there Saturday, and this is a new sign over the walkway to the go karts under Wild One, which is in the middle of the Mardi Gras section, not the actual entrance sign. Also, as for operations, they were pretty dreadful once again. 1 train on every coaster and LONG dispatch times. It is less noticeable/frustrating at SFA than it would be at parks with higher attendance, but for the most part, operations were slowed to a crawl (it doesn't help that every coaster except Superman had a second train literally sitting on the transfer, waiting for some use).
  12. You thought GateKeeper was rough? It might not be the best coaster, but I thought it was very smooth.
  13. After hearing about it so much, did anybody notice that SFA didn't use fingerprint scanners for pass holders? SP processing for me took over an hour when I did do at 4 pm, given there were plenty of line jumpers. At least I only have to do that once.
  14. I 100% agree. I enjoy the park for what it is, which is a small chain park that has received increased capital investments over the last 3 years or so. There are many things that need to be done to SFA to make it one of the better Six Flags parks, but it has gone a long way since about 2007 or so. The park is clean, the employees are friendly (not fast, but friendly), and has a decent coaster lineup.
  15. It's not that we don't like humor or anything, but you have to remember that it is very difficult to detect Internet sarcasm. Also, editing an official tweet can look very real (not saying it did), and without claiming it to be fake, will generally make people (including Cedar Fair, if they saw it) unhappy with you.
  16. This has been mentioned before, but after heading up to SFA opening day today, I just would like to mention that of their 8 coasters (excl. the kiddie coaster, incl. Ragin Cajun), Ragin Cajun was not open (which is a separate discussion), Roar never opened, and the other 6 ran 1 train the ENTIRE day. Apocalypse had a 15-20 minute wait midday, and the second train sitting on the transfer. Same with Batwing. I waited over 75 minutes for Batwing during 2013 FF with 1 train. Unless the train needs to be serviced, there is no reason or excuse to have it sitting on the transfer with a FULL queue.
  17. Some thoughts from SFA opening day... Arrived around 10:30 to a long SP processing line, after waiting about 10 minutes without moving, decided to do so as I was on my way out. First ride was Apocalypse. Still very rough, age certainly isn't helping this coaster. Ops were decent, very friendly. Then I went to Joker's Jinx, walk on, ops were pretty slow. I then made my way to Superman for the first of four times. Ops were atrocious- they took forever, but still, great ride- nice airtime on the hill before the second helix. As the day went on, lines grew slightly. Batwing opened around 1ish, painfully slow ops. Mind Eraser opened early afternoon, not nearly worth the 10 minute wait. Possibly the most painful steel coaster I've been on. Roar never opened, I asked an employee standing at the entrance if it would open later in the day, and she replied with a pre-written speech saying Roar is temporarily down, then went on to list nearby attractions to try. Thanks for that. (sarcasm.) I exited around 4, but left the park after 5. SP processing was absolutely horrible. Multiple line jumpers, security did nothing about it until people complained. All in all, a decent opening day. Slow operations to be expected, Roar never opened, but 1 train ops on EVERY coaster. This is what is keeping me from thinking of SFA as an above average park. Painful. Especially on Superman. 20 minutes with 6 people in front of me. Ragin Cajin was not open, we all knew that, the Flyers were not open. Hmm...
  18. An apostrophe after the "s" on chains probably would have helped, but it worked out either way.
  19. Apparently you haven't heard much about KI. It's a great park with plenty of great coasters, and flats. Well, to be fair, Great Adventure is a great park as well. If you usually go to Cedar Point, you may not have been on a GREAT wooden coaster before. El Toro is one of the best. I have nothing against The Beast or KI, but El Toro is another level.
  20. So, any of you guys heading to SFA on Saturday? I've never been to an opening day, but I went to the last SFA Fright Fest Saturday this past season. How are crowds typically on opening day, compared to, say, Spring Break? I know you can never know for sure, but as I said, never been to opening day.
  21. That's probably true, but likely due to downtime. Intamin coasters are generally more cutting edge/use new technology. Tall drop towers aren't new technology (other than potentially a faster ascent on Zumanjaro), just taller.
  22. If only the tower was about 100 feet taller...
  23. I rode Mind Eraser and I don't remember it at all (from the multiple headshots I took ). Really, it's somewhat strange to see this coaster now at a differnt park. But, for a RMC, I'll gladly watch it go. You mean Iron Wolf?
  24. I could not agree more!! I just do not get it. I think its pure laziness honestly. Its not like these other parks with ride companies that Six Flags does not so we know its not the ride manufactures all the time. My guess is that The New CEO of Six Flags pays construction workers scale (Meaning Cheap) by allowing them to do other projects while they're working on Six Flags stuff. He clearly cares about the bottom line. The argument is that it gives Six Flags a way to get guests to return in the summer when the ride opens. I don't know if that's a completely valid reason; instead of trying to increase the already heavier summer crowds, why not try to give people a reason to visit before the summer and open it at the park's opening? I agree, I wish they chose to open rides earlier, but, unfortunately, it isn't our decision.
