When I walk into a very clean park with several 25 million dollar plus rides and lots of fairly happy employees, I don't think walmart. When I am paying $8 for fries and $35 for a sweatshirt, I do not think Walmart. Have you ever worked for either Walmart or Six Flags? If so, I would love to hear some real reasons why Six Flags is anything like walmart in anyway shape or form. Honestly, how much more complex of a lighting package do you need on the ride? Top Thrill Dragster has essentially the same exact thing and I have never heard any complaints. There are homes within 10 feet of the park's borders and an airport a few miles away. I doubt either of those would really appreciate a thousand lights on a 456ft tall structure. There is a difference between practical and cheap. If a single spotlight is all you need to do the trick, than I wouldn't call having just that "cheaping out". I don't understand all of the sudden Gadv hate. Yeah, the park is going through some growing pains rights now and has some weird dead ends, but in reality its got one the best collections of rides out there and a fairly nice atmosphere. Golden Kingdom and PDC are two of the nicest areas in any Six Flags or Cedar Fair parks out there. Both cost a fortune and nobody wants to bring them up when comparing the park to Walmart. End rant. GADV is a nice park and I'd take it any day over the punk filled dump in Valencia California. Six Flags needs to spend a little more on GADV rather than installing cheap roller coasters at Magic Mountain to keep a stupid record. Now tell me how you really feel... But in all seriousness, is Magic Mountain that bad? It gets a LOT of hate, but is that just because of Six Flags' compulsion to "beat" CP and occasionally ignore the smaller parks, or is it really that bad? Reason I ask is I'm potentially making a side trip to Magic Mountain if I'm in San Diego this summer. That is, if I can't make it back to CP again.

I don't really understand this, seeing as steel coasters have no support on the top half of their loops, either. RMC's technology isn't outdoing steel Oh, but it is. and I already tried to explain this but since that didn't work, I'll use imagery to demonstrate my point. B&M: intamintrack.jpg Goliath: See what's missing? There is no support system built into the track itself. The rails are running free, save for a few bars attaching it to the supports that are off to the side. Its as if a steel coaster like B&M wasn't just missing supports, but missing the square box as well and was just two stainless steel rails. There are far fewer track ties keeping the rails together. Over the course of an inversion that long, several hundred feet, there are only about 12 track ties. The gap between the track ties appears to be the length of a train car or even a bit longer. B&M's pass a track tie every 2 feet or so and Intamin's, well, are they ever not? And as I mentioned earlier, there are only two visible steel beams extending off of the arch at the moment, whereas in the concept art, there are 5 or 6. If those are not installed later on, and since the structure is turning out different than the latest concept art already and it would be so much easier to have installed it while the rest of the arch was being built on the ground, it is likely that the zero g stall will be even more stripped and naked than the concept art posted here! Thats a good explanation. On a side note... THANK GOD for Fast Lane at Cedar Point! Look how long MF's queue is!

The difference is that Skyrush and El Toro hit their maximum of 80 degrees in probably 60-70 vertical feet or so, whereas I305 probably takes closer to 120-130 feet to hit its max (which isn't much steeper). It's still a hell of a crest, and I'm not knocking it in the least, but it definitely doesn't have the insane whip that the other two have - especially when you're sitting in the back car of Toro. Now that's a drop. I second this. El Toro is the only coaster I've ridden with ejector airtime on the first drop (back row) AND sustained ejector airtime throughout the ride. That's why it's my (and many others') overall #1 coaster. -

Why would you not have told us your source when it was asked? I hope you realize that you're not doing ANYONE any favors, including Cedar Point, which I HIGHLY doubt is actually your employer. If you want to argue this, prove it. Who's your manager? Where did you hear this? If you can't answer these, no need to spread false rumors that aren't based on any factual evidence. It's not good publicity. -
wow, 5 min between dispatches just horrible. this park should not even have the six flags name on it that how they are going to run ride operations. disgrace I've never experienced the 5 minutes loading. Would have been pissed. Most I've waited (I counted three times last year) was 2:31. Least time was 1:54. It wasn't five minutes every time, but it certainly happened. The line started around 2 or 3 switchbacks, and the wait was at leat 60 minutes, if not more. The wait may have been longer than the posted wait time, which is pathetic.

I thought they came from Dippin' Dots stands? Well if the dippin dots guy has a keyboard... ...and spilled the Dippin' Dots on the keyboard... If you were a true dippin dots enthusiast, you would know they don't melt, and therefore wouldn't hurt the keyboard. -
Yup, The video is definitely gone. No telling though if it was requested, demanded, or simply just because. On a side note: Back in March I finally got to ride Backwards Colossus for the first time and loved it! After boarding for the 2nd time in the "back" of the train (closest to the ride-op booth) I casually asked the young female attendant (who was checking the lap bars) when the last expected day of backwards operation was. She spaced and in her confusion looked to the two male ride-ops in the booth (both of whom overheard my question). They both responded that Colossus was expected to run backwards until the end of June. With a nod I simply replied, "Thanks!" as we were dispatched. FYI: Six Flags' 2014 2nd Quarter ends June 30th. 3rd Quarter begins July 1st... Wait... I'm sorry, is there something more you were trying to tell us in this paragraph, or just that SFMM ops are confused and Backwards Collosus ends in June, which is in the second quarter?

I must've had bad luck in the past. I went Saturday, October 26 last year, which was the last Saturday of Fright Fest, and you can assume one of the busiest days of the year, considering the water park can be more crowded than the (lack of) theme park during the summer. Batwing ran one train the entire day, and I decided to wait for Batwing since I already rode everything else at least twice. I waited about 60 minutes, if not more. One train operations with dispatches sometimes exceeding five minutes.

Just out of curiosity, what do you particularly like about Mean Streak? And what makes Mantis, of all coasters, your #1 steel coaster? Excuse me for getting off topic. -

Who ever said these seatbelts are to appease the GP? If B&M hypers had ridership issues because they are "unsafe" (they are quite the opposite), then this could be argued. My guess would be insurance. There haven't been recent occurrences on a B&M hyper that would lead to adding seatbelts, like when the New Texas Giant and other Six Flags coasters did last summer/fall. -

Thanks for the help. I went ahead and created a new 256 x 256 custom scenario and saved all the scenery along with a few separate coasters traversing along the sides of the buildings and landscaping, then placed those accordingly in the new scenario. Once I clicked all the scenery to save with the track file, it was a breeze just placing it in the new scenario. It only took about 15 minutes to place everything back into the new scenario once it was created, so I am back to the point I had been, only with a larger map with space to accurately depict the layout and coasters. Thank you for all the help! -
I rode El Toro opening day this year, which was probably after most of the track work was done, and it was as smooth as it's ever been, for me at least. The smoothest wooden coaster I've ever ridden by FAR and smoother than 90% of the steel coasters I've ridden. But to answer your question, to my knowledge it is meant to be very low maintenance (no coaster, especially wooden, can be 100% maintenance-free), which it seems to have been. Keep in mind though, El Toro isn't a new coaster anymore, it is quickly approaching 10 years old, and at that point, most traditional wooden coasters are not nearly as smooth as El Toro will be for quite awhile. Edit: ^Beat me to it!

What if I were to save a custom ride with all the scenery I want to keep, then place that in a larger map? That way I could move the scenery into a new, larger map. -

I am fine losing the rides, I have saved all the layouts for coasters. I spent a good chunk of the time doing the entrance, so I would like to save the scenery. I assume I should use the "convert saved game to scenario," which I looked at doing, but it seems that I could only change the goals and such... or am I missing something? I'll look at it again when I have time, been very busy with schoolwork lately and when I finally had a few hours yesterday to work on designs I was disappointed when I saw the scale was just a tad small to fit Superman in the correct place. Otherwise Joker's Jinx and Wild One would be off. But anyway, thanks for replying and when I have the time I'll try that option again to see if I'm missing anything. -

I'm working an SFA recreation, but I realized yesterday that I made the map too small. I figured I didn't need 256x256, but I may now. Is it possible to increase the dimensions in a custom scenario? Thanks in advance. -
For me, the roughest coaster I've been on is Mind Eraser at SFA. Most rides end with a headache, and that's not because of the horrible operations of the ride.

I've never heard something like that before. I've seen many people disregard the seatbelts, but I've never heard of anyone try to sit on top of the lap bar. That actually sounds painful -

My mistake, I haven't been following this as closely as I could. Do you know why only the new style trains have seatbelts? The restraint system shouldn't be any different, to my knowledge. -
Adding to this discussion. You know how the Voyage technically has the most (measured) airtime, around 25 seconds or so? That's because it has the most and most drawn out portions of negative g's than any other coatser. Now, I haven't heard many people say they leave their seat on a The Voyage. Take this as you will, but this tells me that airtime is negative g's, not physically leaving your seat. If it was the latter, The Voyage would not retain this record.
