I agree with you! I also would like some designated non-VR times to ride Kraken without all the headache and long waits. VR coasters are a good idea on paper, but the cleaning and long waits makes it clear simulator rides are the better way to go. Besides, people love the view on coasters. I love the visuals. I enjoy simulator rides too, but why ruin a good coaster to basically turn it into a simulator ride? Side note: I see the mimes are back for Sea Lions Tonight show. That's great. I always enjoy a good laugh and their antics. I would like them back every show. Those crossing guards and their annoying whistle, ugh, I can do without.

I'm not a fan of enclosing Sand Serpent coaster. I like the visuals of the hairpin turns. I do like the idea of a new, indoor ride. We are still waiting to hear what will become of the areas of Gwazi and Tanganyika Tidal Wave, and when they will start on that. It's a common flat ride, but a swing ride would be a good family ride because it's so hot the breeze of riding it would be enjoyable. The swinging vines was one of their earliest rides and I remember enjoying the breeze back then riding it. Florida is hot! A simple, yet welcome ride for hot climate locations. Plus family friendly which BGT could use since the Sand Storm was relocated to another park to make room for Falcon's Fury.

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
CoasterGoddess replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Anyone think about the what ifs with Son of Beast? If they didn't tear it down, you think it could had been renovated like Texas Giant and many other wooden coasters? -
For me it's LeSourdsville Lake in/near Cincinnati, OH. I spent many childhood days there and would enjoy a trip back again as an adult to experience it. They had a Western area of the park you'd get to by train, and the main part of the park surrounded a lake. The park was renamed Americana in the years before ultimately closing for good about 10 years ago. This park had a lot of potential and it's sad to see this park become one of the now defunct amusement parks.

Most Disappointing Coaster!
CoasterGoddess replied to Beate's Freak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For me it was Cedar Points' Mean Steak. I'm sure it was great in earlier years, but the day we road it in 2006 it felt like it was going so slow down the big hill I was wondering if it was going to stop. I was looking forward to this woodie, so that's why I was so disappointed. We thought Gemini was the better woodie there. -
I'm bring guests to SeaWorld Orlando and want to know which dolphin show is better: Blue Horizons or Dolphin Days? Blue Horizon ends on March 31 and Dolphin Days begins April 1. Which show is more entertaining? I can being then anytime time from late March or early April, thanks! I am hoping some here have seen both shows.

Howl-O-Scream is under-rated for sure! In my opinion it's much scarier and overall better than Halloween Horror Nights. The biggest, and probably only negative is HOS don't have the money that HHN has to make as many house with expensive details. But HOS, unlike HHN, don't have security in every room telling you to move along and hurry you through their houses and thus ruining the scare factor. Also, HHN is always a conga line and never a break between guest unlike HOS. I talked with a friend who visited HHN last weekend and they weren't happy with it. Said he spent a lot of money and didn't get to go through their 2 best houses as the lines were over 3 hours for their best houses. Howl-O-Scream, for many of us Floridians know is cheaper, less crowded, scarier, and more fun. Glad you got to experience it. No word on Gwazi, but wood don't weather good in Florida. I think it'd cost too much to take apart a weather damaged (?) ride and ship it and attempt to assemble it back together and hope it runs well. I think maybe... firewood? Sad.

How much do you use Twitter?
CoasterGoddess replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have an acct, but very rarely ever use it. I like Facebook. -
I want to take a relative to USO & IOA in Orlando who has a bad back. According to their website only the Harry Potter train is listed as safe to ride. Even the new King Kong attraction has a symbol it's bad for back and says sudden movements. I thought I read it's mild and a jeep ride? Oh, and minions has a non motion seat to watch the film. It don't appear they have much without sudden movements. I think ET is mild enough.

BGW or Hershey Park
CoasterGoddess replied to Mr. Corn's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not trying to be a jerk but you must not know that much about coasters. Hershey does not have A Giga Wing Coaster. Hershey does Have A hyper coaster. Nor do they have an inverted clone or Lim launch coaster. Great Bear is actually a unique b&m invert. And storm runner is an intamin accelerator coaster which uses a catapult launch like Kingda ka and Top thrill dragster. Yeah, I read that too and just shrugged it off. Really a "Giga wing" coaster? I haven't yet heard of a Hyper wing coaster that has a 200ft or more drop. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so. I also recommend to consider what time next year you'll be visiting as some new 2017 rides may be open then. -
BGW or Hershey Park
CoasterGoddess replied to Mr. Corn's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hi BGW has a dark ride DarKastle that is 3D. Hershey's dark ride is a slow moving chocolate tour thing. For me, I wasn't too thrilled or impressed with Hershey Park. I had fun but I wasn't too thrilled. The same year I went to BGW and had much more fun and the same thing goes with Kings Dominion. Also from DC if you have the time you'd love, love, love Six Flags in NJ. It's not too much farther of a drive and well worth it, and they have dark rides too! Check out the parks list of rides on their websites for current as may be some new additions I'm not aware of. So for that area I really liked BGW, Kings Dominion, and Six Flags NJ. Hershey is fun, but comes in easily last place IMO. -
With all the experts and no one saw this coming? The netting is in my opinion too close and does not give room should a raft becomes airborne and parts of a riders body gets tangled in that netting which sounds like what may had happened. The 2nd hill looks like it drops too quickly and too deeply for a water ride after building up such speed. Water rides are not roller coasters, and you can't expect to have the same elements on a water ride with a raft not attached to a track like a roller coaster is attached and you get airtime. Prayers to the family and those who witnessed this tragedy. RIP young man, this should had never happened. This ride is now toast!

Thanks for the tips on the hidden aquariums. We'll definitely try to check those out. You TR was great, which was part of the inspiration to go to Sea World. We can tolerate the plots in the pets show, sea lions show, etc., mostly because the main focus is on the animals and training. As far as the skating show goes, it still seems to have all of the qualities I hate about shows in general. I only take my ice skating two ways: 1) Drinking 9 dollar beer at Scott Trade Center and cursing at the St. Louis Blues, specifically Alex Pietrangelo. (YOU SUCK, PIETRANGELO!!) 2) All padded up and playing hockey at our local rink, while trying to keep up with the high school and college kids. Just my 2 cents, I agree that Opening Night Critters is overly corny, but the show has some good moments and could be tweaked to make the story move faster and fill in more animals. I would like the animal show at the end to be longer, but still over-all I enjoy seeing the animals and it's worth a view. I'd give it a 7/10. Plus, in Florida a nice inside break in AC is always welcome during the hot afternoon. Iceplorations, I give this show high rating for story line. It's comparable to a drama more so than a cheesy comedy. It's about a grandfather taking his grandchild (sometimes grand-daughter/ grand-son) on a world safari vacation to see animals and sites. I like the storyline, but I am female. I have taken many guests both sexes and almost everyone names this their favorite show at BGT. It has huskys, I think bobcat or lynx, and many types of birds. After the show you can greet some actors and the huskys. The skating and costumes are very nice, it's fast paced considering all the many scene and costume changes, plus it's always a nice break inside with AC during hot afternoons. I give this show 9/10. Some people hate shows, but BGT and BGW's Irish dance show Celtic Fyre, are good theme park shows. I remember walking out of BGW's version of their animal show, and I am an animal lover, plus it was outside and not in AC. That does make a difference. I hope BGW considering changing that and their story was weak and slow. Celtic Fyre gets a 9/10 as well. I like BGT Belly dancer show too, which is inside a theater/restaurant foodcourt style venue. Getting food is optional. Nice costumes, good show, and the guys will love the beautiful and fit ladies. I give it a 7/10. Motor City Grooves gets a 7/10 also. * BGT and SW parks sometimes has concerts during the year, even when it's not during special events, so be sure to read the park map for special shows/concerts. Even I have missed some. I also enjoy seeing Jack Hanna when he comes to BG and SW parks. SWO Blue Horizon 9/10, Shamu 9/10 (it was a 10 before the changes with trainers not in water), Pets Ahoy 8.5/10 (they removed the tightrope walker cat ) Sealion show 8/10 (Pirate island show was better) and no mimes. The mimes need to return. Mimes get a 9.5/10 which is the highest score I give to any themepark act/show. Need a new cirque style show for Nautilus theater sitting empty too long. Sorry, for awhile I forgot this was SWO thread, so I went back and added ratings for their shows.

That poor, poor animal . This truly breaks my heart. I agree with you Prozach. Animal cruelty is a special level of evil. I hope this piece of poo-poo gets what is coming to him and HARD! I agree. We need to bring back tougher punishment and make prisoners work, chain gangs maybe, while locked up to help pay back to their victims and society. No more just sitting around, playing, and watching TV. They did serious crimes and a movie night once a week is suffice and only for those with good behavior and did their work! I'm sick of the roving door justice system which allows these crooks to victimise again and again. What ever happened to 3 strikes? We should enforce 3 strikes and no more release, that's it. Make special prisons for these criminals to rot in until they die. They choose the actions, their victims sure did not. Poor Pinky the flamingo was the cutest one. Have you seen the videos of her dancing? She was their only dancing flamingo.

Have you been on it recently? It seems that they fixed a few things that were a bit "off" during the previews w/ timing, projection issues and even the ability to see your "driver" through the frosted glass. This was my second time riding and I enjoyed it a LOT more than my first. We were also told that there are 5 different "driver" characters and I think the one we got the first time just made the story more confusing than it probably needed to be. It isn't a mind-blowing ride, but I think it is a good addition to the park! How long are the wait times and does the queue line move quickly? It looks cool, but they really spent many years working on this for it to not have a more enthusiastic reaction the first ride. Maybe they will up the thrill? I was hoping for a part dark ride and open jungle ride experience with thrills. I have a friend who has a bad back, is it jerky at all? Thanks.

OMG, No!!!!!! That POS needs to be euthanized! I hope he's barred from every theme park in the USA after this POS serves his time in the slammer and I hope he gets slammed to the ground and worse! PS. I also believe BGT needs to put more visible employees around the animal locations. I have seen a guy jump the fence into the alligator area and pull a gators tail. He jumped back out and was able to leave the park without anyone saying a thing! I told employees who just stood there and did nothing! Park said they don't chase down anyone, but what the guy did is a felony! They must put surveillance cameras up in animal locations and have employees take better care of their animals. I never heard of animals being mistreated and killed when the park was owned by Anheuser-Busch! They must look out for their animals better! We seriously need to Make America Great Again. Those who don't see how our country has decline in many ways in the past decade need to wake up. We need to take action to make our country safer and more peaceful. I'm sick of loud rioters and violence everywhere! Too many narcissistic "me, me, me" people who care only about themselves and are violent to others. Darn, this ruined my mood, poor Pinky!

Just thinking: Not sure what time you arrive on the 11th and leave on the 14th, but you could fit in Big Cat Rescue on one of those days. I have been there and the tour took about an hour. It's not a park or zoo, so after your guided tour it is over you're done, except shopping in their gift shop. You could then consider getting a 2 park pass to SeaWorld & BGT (a great deal!) and spend Wednesday over at Seaworld and ride Mako, Manta, and Kraken and do BGT Thursday and ask about discount on Howl-O-Scream before buying your tickets. SeaWorld Orlando is about 60 -70 minute drive from Tampa.

Actually this wouldn't be an awful thing either now that I think about it. Yes, the crowds at night will be huge but the event is really amazing. We went last year and were blown away. If you haven't been to a big budget haunt like Universal I would almost suggest going out of your way for it if you're into that kind of thing. We were used to small regional park haunts (Six Flags Fright Fest, Halloweekends... things like that) and this is on an entirely different level. Since you'll be in Florida in October I'd suggest that or HHN if it works with your schedule. I wish it could but we're going down the 11th and leaving the 14th so the 12th is dedicated to BGT and the 13th for a Big Cat sanctuary. Hi B&M. If you have any interest in experiencing a top Halloween experience I would suggest you switch days and do Big Cat on Wed 12th and BGT on Thurs 13th since Howl-O-Scream is that evening. I would call and ask about a day ticket / Howl-O-Scream ticket combo. Didn't see much on their website, but I bet they have a discount if you are at their park during the day. Most rides are running between day park and Howl-O-Scream event times for those who have tickets to both. Thursdays are the slowest Howl-O-Scream nights so you will have time to ride some of your favorite coasters at night besides going through all of the haunted houses. They usually have 7-8 haunted houses, 1 or 2 shows - Fiends show is very popular, many kinds of roaming monsters, some on stilts, and special haunt areas through the park. It's a fun experience you must try once, unless you hate anything scary. Riding the coasters at night may make it worth it for you. Iceplorations and Opening Night Critters are great daytime shows to try to fit in with the coasters during your visit. It should be slow so weather permitting you can get in many re-rides! Enjoy!

Theme Park Bucket list
CoasterGoddess replied to witting's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dollywood Silver Dollar City SeaWorld TX SeaWorld CA -
I've been to the best parks in America for thrill rides and I love them, but what concerns me most is how many lose sight at the unique treasure we have in SeaWorld. We have so many great theme parks with top thrill rides, but we only have 3 Seaworld parks and I shudder to think of their demise, which has already begun. I remember the days going to SeaWorld without rides and enjoying it then. Now it's better with rides, more attractions, shows, entertainment, concerts, you name it, but in the past few years, starting shortly after the sell off from Anheuser-Busch, this park's top attractions have been under attack and now the animal activists have seem to won. Many I know believe the new park owners and management are activists themselves or believe they will make money teaming up with them at the expense of the killer whales and the next animal to come under their attack which I hear are all the whales in the park. This subject upsets my family and friends who have enjoyed SeaWorld through the years. What SeaWorld needs is not to become another top thrill ride park at the expense of what makes them well loved and needed in importance to education and conservation. SeaWorld is mostly a sea life zoo with educational and entertaining attractions, shows, and some rides thrown in for variety. It was never meant to be the #1 thrill ride park, but in so many ways Seaworld is unmatched and that's why many of us love the park. I enjoy their slow observation tower and it's a nice view and rest in A/C on hot days. Falcon's Fury is 60-80 mins away depending on traffic for those who must have a drop ride. Drop rides are okay, but roller coasters are much more fun. Drop rides are not a must have for every park like roller coasters are. The skytower is scenic and fits in best with SeaWorld, well when it's working. I also read about having a tall drop tower stay up for a minute before dropping and I think that could be a serious problem. Many people could suffer an unforeseen panic attack or heart attack with being stranding up there that long. I have seen someone who rides roller coasters have a panic attack on a drop tower when the ride operator at a fair waited a few minutes before dropping it. The last thing any park needs is having someone die or nearly die on one of their rides. Thrill rides were never a top priority with their park and honestly I hope rides always remain secondary to their animal attractions. The more SeaWorld slowly tears away the attractions and experiences that made them special, the more likely they will shut down or go bankrupt. Some I know stopped renewing their passes and visiting the park annually. The more SeaWorld loses their sights on what made them great, the more I believe they should sell their park to someone who will carry the torch that Anheuser-Busch started. I love roller coasters, but SeaWorld is a unique treasure that true fans must speak up against the negative changes that have happened in recent years or this park will become only a memory. Some say the park is on it's death bed, they stopped going, and the future looks grim. A drop ride will not help, they need to update what worked and keep what the pass members love about SeaWorld, namely Shamu.

The ride was over-hyped, sadly, and this ride fell way short. They could had made it more fun with more spins and a longer ride. The mild ride could had added a few slow moving maneuvers also for them as well. The only reason they call the one ride "wild" is due to the end video watching part where the car you are in shifts aggressively side to side and back and forth. This movement is not wild nor fun and is not needed in my opinion. I do enjoy the couple spins they have, but I wouldn't call that wild. It's milder than the spins on Men In Black at Universal Studios. I do enjoy this attraction as it's a nicely thought out family ride / attraction for all ages and educational as well. Maybe, some day, they could make improvements to enhance the enjoyment of the ride experience, but my friend's 9yo daughter loved it and this is her favorite ride at SeaWorld. Question: I came here to see if anyone heard anything about the mimes? I heard the park plans to bring them back in 2017, but no word since then if any of the mimes were contacted at all. I really enjoyed the mimes and we were hoping to hear about their return. I checked the facebook mime pages and groups and no updates about them. Thanks Rob, and anyone else who may know something. I enjoy the air-time from their roller coasters, but I also enjoy good entertainment and a good laugh. Any word about another Cirque style show to replace Allure? I can't say I'm pleased with the many negative changes going on at SeaWorld and no hyper coaster can fix that. Can anyone seriously think of SeaWorld without the Shamu show and allowing the whales to die off? The only people who are happy with the changes are the animal activists who don't go and will never go. Very sad as my family has been loyal to this park for years!
