  1. 1) Youtube, I watch a lot of videos, but don't actively follow many channels and never post on videos. 2) I don't have accounts with or use any of the others.
  2. A few observations from a visit this past Saturday (10/10/2015), -Ride employees seemed friendlier and more engaging than my usual experience at Six Flags parks, but it was my first visit to this park in many years so I suppose it could just be a regional thing. Some of the added friendliness and crowd pleasing by the attendants did further decrease operational times, which I have mixed feelings about. -Scare actors seemed really into it right when the event started around 7:00 pm, but as the night went on I noticed more and more of them huddled in groups of 2 or 3 just chatting. -Wait times in the morning were low with almost all waits being under 30 minutes. By the time fright fest started all lines on major coasters were an hour or longer. Food and beverage lines were also quite long (except for the healthier choices food stand in the Texas section). I thought this was a bit ironic. -I tried out the platinum flash pass ($90 per person) for the first time with mixed results. The ability to use it on New Texas Giant and Battle for Metropolis was really nice, but Skyscreamer was closed. No flash passes work on Judge Roy, Shockwave, and most of the flats. I would say it was probably worth it for the amount of times we rode New Texas Giant.
  3. Me and the girlfriend are planning on travelling to Orlando to visit the park for the first time August 18th. Do any of you locals know how long Cheetuh Hunt is usually down for in these types of cases? It'll be a bit of a disappointment if it's not running our first trip to the park.
  4. Land has recently been cleared between the Jurassic Park River Adventure and Toon Lagoon area, the T-rex photo OP that was there has been moved closer to the Discovery center. Rumors that I have heard include a Jurassic Park coaster/dark ride and a new King Kong ride. By the location I would assume Jurassic Park something. The Disaster ride in the studios park is also rumored to be the next thing to go so that could possibly be the King Kong location. The amount of money NBC is putting into these parks is pretty impressive.
  5. There is an area less than 5 minutes from the park with several hotels in that price range, I'd check those. There's a microtel that has been nice in the past within that area that I've gotten for as low as $60 a night. The closest hotel is going to be the Great Wolf Lodge (walking distance to the park), but is probably higher than what you would want to pay.
  6. How many days you want to spend will depend on what time of year you go, whether or not you have fast passes, and what rides you want to do. During peak operation times I've seen lines on the major rides go over 3 hours and on slow weeks I've been to the park where everything other than Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey was under a 20 minute wait. Since the new expansion is opening soon I would probably say 2 days if you want to do absolutely everything. As far as hidden gems the mystic fountain in IoA is quite funny and not many people know about it. If the group is old enough there are two places I know of to get Universal Studios brewed beer. The Simpsons area has Duff, Duff Lite, and Duff Dry, which tasted like Blue Moon, Miller Lite, and Guiness to me respectively. The Hogs Head serves a signature Red Lager that I enjoyed more than any of the Simpsons beers. I've been to 2 quality sit down restaurants at IoA and like both of them Mythos and Confisco. Mythos has won several awards. The Three Broomsticks, while not sit down service, was also surprisingly good. For a large group one of the many restaurants at city walk may be a better option.
  7. June trip to Holiday World, King's Island, and Cedar Point!
  8. Myself and the girlfriend just got back from a trip to Six Flags over Georgia on March 22nd (Second operating day of the 2014 season). We had very mixed results and wanted to share our experiences here. The park was open from 10:00 to 8:00 and our ride count was, Acrophobia x2 Batman: The Ride x2 Dahlonega Mine Train x1 Dare Devil Dive x1 Georgia Cyclone x2 Georgia Schorcher x1 GASM x2 Log Jamboree x1 Mindbender x2 Monster Mansion x1 Ninja x1 Riverview Carousel x1 Skyscreamer x1 Superman: Ultimate Flight x2 Overall we had a decent time. My biggest complaint was that load times were unbearably slow, even for six flags standards. Line jumping was also a large problem. We ended up trying out "The Flash Pass." It was clear that certain ride operators were not familiar with it and the time it saved varied from ride to ride. For example, on skyscreamer the regular line was 2 hours, and the Flash Pass got us on in less than 10 minutes. On Georgia Cyclone the regular wait was 30 minutes, we waited 15 minutes for our Flash Pass to buzz that it was our time, then waited another 20 minutes in the Flash pass line If we go back we would probably buy it again but would be much more selective about which rides we used it on. Another issue was that if you queued for an attraction using the Flash Pass and that attraction broke down there wasn't really anything you could do about it. Four times during the day the ride we used the pass for was broken when we arrived. Ride closures were a significant problem that day as well. Many rides did not open at park opening and we felt like the first hour we were there was us wondering around trying to find something that was open. Goliath and Superman were closed for most of the day. We were in line three times for Goliath, but never got to ride Batman and Mindbender also suffered periodic breakdowns. Two trains were being run on everything except Mindbender, Ninja, and GASM in the morning. Both the woodies were running very well, you could tell they had some work done over the offseason. Walking to the park from our hotel (which was less than 0.25 miles away!) GASM station in front of Superman. We both really enjoyed both of these that day. Ninja doing its crazy thing. Quote from the GF "I feel like I just punched myself in the face" Ninja's new car design this year Special rack for souvenir cups while you ride. This was a bit confusing, some rides had places for you to store loose articles and such while others did not. We found it difficult to keep track of what we needed a locker for and what we didn't. The Lickskillet area was the only one where I thought the theming was decent More fun Lickskillet stuff New Skyscreamer ride, line was over 2 hours long for most of the day It's way up there. On closer inspection it doesn't look nearly as sturdy as the Cedar Fair versions Random base photo Full cycle went all the way up, down to about the middle, the all the way up again. This was much more exciting than I anticipated (and a little frightening). It was windy and the seats were at a large angle when at the top. I wanted to ride again, but the GF was a little freaked out by it. Talked to some of the GP about the ride and the general consensus was they liked it, but not worth a 2+ hour wait. GF enjoying the Riverview Carousel I had read some stuff about DDD being a little disappointing, so I was prepared to not get too excited about it. It was even worse than I thought. Other than the first drop neither one of us found it exciting and the remainder of the ride was a bit uncomfortable. We couldn't decide if it was the seats or the restraints, but neither of us wanted to ride this again. Quote of the day from the GF "I liked it less than Ninja" Batman was Batman. It was fun, but I've given up trying to count how many times I've ridden these things. I did find it a little more forceful, loud, and rough than usual Overall fairly fun trip. We'd like to go back mostly just because we wanted to ride Goliath and couldn't. Wait times for this trip were between 30 to 45 minutes on Ninja, Cyclone, Batman, 1 to 1.5 hours on DDD, Goliath, GASM, Superman, Scorcher, and 2+ hours on skyscreamer.
  9. I'm excited to hear about the maintenance work on some of these coasters, GASM and Cyclone really needed it. I'll be there this Saturday, I'm hoping the crowds aren't too bad considering it's still early in the season but not opening weekend.
  10. Dragon Challenge (Formerly Dueling Dragons) at Universal IoA. Sad that they no longer duel Also In my opinion theming was better when in was Dueling Dragons
  11. Looks like there could be a theme park, water park, and.....movie studio? They also want to bring back Megazeph. From an article on Canal Street Beat canalstreetbeat.com/jazzland-to-return-to-nola/
  12. Thanks guys. Probably only going to have time for about a week and a half. Do you think King's Island and Cedar point deserve 2 days apiece? Or can they be done in one?
  13. It depends on what you like. I've talked to a few people who have taken them. Pro's: Behind the scenes access to areas Interesting tidbits of information from the guide Basically zero wait time on rides Con's: Some people don't like having the tour guide with their group. The guide will improvise the schedule to do anything you would like, but sometimes people find the tour a little too structured for their vacation.
  14. The only theme park expansions I've heard of in Florida are the new roller coaster that is supposedly coming to Universal's Islands of Adventure and the Disney Avatar expansion. I haven't heard anything about a roller coaster at Avatar though.
  15. Hello All! New member here. I've lived in the southeast U.S. my entire life (never been further north than Nashville). I've done Six Flags Astroworld, Fiesta Texas, Over Texas, Over Georgia, Sea World San Antonio, Universal Studios Florida (at least once a year), and Disney World. This summer I'm planning to make my first trip to the northern U.S. I'm definitely doing Cedar Point and King's Island and possibly others. Can any of you give me some tips on visiting these parks (when to go? where to say? must do activities?) as well as any other parks I might want to hit while in the Ohio area? Thanks!
