Coastin Eric replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was sent an invitation that I have to RSVP to. So I'm assuming that means it's only open to invited guests. Ah, bummer to hear that. I assume you won't be attending Robb. Oh well, I might go to the park that day anyway! -

Oh but wait. Do you have to be "Invited" to the announcement? Or can anyone in the park go to the announcement..? I was planning on going, but maybe not depending on how this is looking -

Well, Fury forms an arch, Gatekeeper doesn't, but still has the track piece that goes in to the ground. If that's what you're getting at, I don't think the fact that the box support goes in to the ground matters. -
Maverick vs Millennium Force
Coastin Eric replied to ImNotOneOfYou's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I couldn't really choose until Coastermania 2013. The night ERT was an hour on Maverick and and hour on MF. I think we did 6 or 7 rides on each, and this is what swayed me towards Maverick, it stayed exciting and intense, even though MF night rides are incredible. -

One of the saltier posts I've read in a while. Roller coaster layouts stand on their own. If accurate, this appears it will be the best dive machine constructed thus far and will slide into the majority of people's top 5 at the park. I completely agree. Like this is unoriginal, compared to what?? Only two other coasters like this in the US? The closest one being ~8 or 9 hours away? I bet a lot of the GP has never seen anything like this, so for CP to implement that for it's guests, seems pretty original. To each their own, but personally I think it'll be a great addition, whether you're GP, an enthusiast, or anything! -

Tempting...and then when I don't have photos, it could still be legit because I was following CP's rule of no phones on rides! It's the perfect plan!!! -

I'll keep an eye out for track/supports when I'm at the park today. Probably won't be out in the open if it's here so... BUT I'll ask the dippin dots guy and see if he knows anything. -

I'm sure the radius will appropriated for the rolling stock, but I still agree. These trains are wide, not long, so the loading/unloading process shouldn't be too long. I wonder if they'll try a Maverick/TTD style station system? Expect the front is load and the back is unload. I'm starting to suspect a flyer at this point. I can't clearly remember, but i THINK Sheikra does this. I could be completely wrong, but I'm fairly certain. -

Sorry, but you said GCI in your statement there. You must have meant someone else. EDIT: Oh, I see. You said "GOOD" not "GREAT" or "OMFG AWESOME!" I retract my statement. GCI does make "GOOD" wooden roller coasters. Accurate -

It's more or less directly to the station. For Millennium Force, you join at the bottom of the ramp, and your wait ends up being about 15 minutes. For Maverick, its right before the station, unless there's a FL line, which can happen, still won't be long. TTD is below the ramp, similar to MF. Most of the merge points are basically the very end of the normal queue, usually at a stair intersection or something of the sort. Depending on the ride, you might wait 0-10 minutes. But the waiting is rare. Hope this helped. -

1) If you mean when the train is in the loading station, and they're looking at the back of the last car, I believe that the sensor displays for the restraints are there. And if all of the lights are on, the restraints are working properly, if not there's an issue. I THINK this might be what you mean. -

Your Dream Lineup

Giga - Fury 325 Hyper - Bizarro Hybrid - Twisted Colossus Invert - Ohhhh gosh this is hard. Raptor or Banshee. Woodies - The Voyage Launched - Maverick Anything - El Toro, Phoenix, Helix, or Taron, if that's allowed. -
Right? So are they going to just demolish one half of the Twisted Twins? This would be a bummer. Maybe in 2017, the other side will be Storm's Revenge. And even better, they will turn it into a Möbius loop coaster. I'm overthinking. This one is already amazing. Well, if nothing happens to the structure, we can expect a future for it. Either way, I'm really excited for this, and it's definitely going to be included in my 2016 plans.

I think I've asked an op before, and they said 35+ (or maybe 45) mph at the top of the tower. Which at that height, isn't that uncommon. -

Yep, that's exactly what happened to me the first and only time I rode it. I'm a bit scared to ride it now for some reason even though I know it happens to a lot of people. G sensitivity is just incredibly discomforting. Intimidator 305 would probably kill me xD. Does anyone know if there's a way to combat G sensitivity? I've heard that staying hydrated and getting a good night's sleep really helps. I've heard holding your breath prevents you from greying out, but I've never tried this. Might be worth a shot. -

Winds are currently 18 mph with gusts up to 32 mph (via National Weather Service). Winds will be calmer tomorrow so I'll probably wait until then to ride TTD. I'm in line for Millennium Force right now. Front or back? I LOVE the back. The drop is incredible. But front for view. Personally I rarely ride anywhere but the back. -

Your friend? What does he do that he can hear someone that high up the food chain just saying willy nilly anything about 2016? Most of the time don't parks use code names for new major attractions. The only fact he heard while they were planning is that it would be the third tallest in the park? No Location? Name? Nothing New? Yes, my friend works lockers and stated that it was before park hours. This tease is REALLY cool, though. Surely surely hints at a roller coaster, but haven't we determined that already -

One of my friends who works at Cedar Point told me that he overheard Rob Decker (Head of maintenance, i think?) talking about a dive coaster for next year, and it being the third tallest coaster in the park. Which agrees completely with the memo, but basically it's nothing new, could just be another rumor for the rumor mill. But personally I'll count it as semi-confirmed
