Who's Craig? Sorry, I dont know the whole gang.
I'm Craig . Guy's been hanging out with me this weekend up here in Connecticut.

Haha, Rabid looks like "Deer in headlights" in a few pictures. Nice Job Rabid for getting on TV. Let us know the airing dates for the Travel Channel.

Which means he probably just hasn't seen it yet. He was talking (in another thread) about a job he was travelling to New York for. He may have already left, and might not have had time to get on TPR.
but I was told that he HAS seen it and that he talked about it in the chat
Guy has been busy all this week with his job in New York City, then visiting SFGAdv today and SFNE tomorrow.
But hey, I love the cartoons, the last one made me really laugh out loud.

With Pandemonium at SFNE...The only things that were taken off was the rotating Mr. Six's on the top of the ride, and the maps, signage, and website list the ride just as Pandemonium. But recently, the rotating Mr. Six's were put back on the ride... So we'll have to see what happens

So yeah, most of you know that the North East has been having non stop rain for almost a week now, which has caused rivers and towns to flood. The Farmington River just a few minutes down the road in the Tariffville Gorge is roughly 3ft away from flood stage which is 9ft.
So I went down to the river to check out how high the water levels are and well, they're way above normal levels...
This is the old part of Tunxis Rd which dead ends where a bridge used to be.
The broken dam with the waters going over part of the dam
This is what the normal level of the water is at the dam is supposed to be at.
Looking down the river
That's a piece of the dam that's almost submerged by the river.
Another look at the dam
One of the branches of the river flooding
More river.
The water is usually at the base of this slab of cement....
Path along the river
Side look of the dam
One more look down the river
Another look at what the water level should be at.
Heading farther up the road
Walking down the path to the river.
River flooding.. When the water levels are normal, Kyackers dare to try the Farmington River. But beware, you MUST be an expert to try this, people have died trying to kyack this river.
i wonder if that is rated class 4 or class 5 rapids.....
Another look at the river.

hehehe, It was a great time to visit SFNE, absolutely dead. We also met up with Neil over from G.A.P. Forums and the three of us had a blast in the park. One of our rides on SWF was just pure chaos, first we get an insane spin out of our raft, then Neil gets hit by a splash of water when going down, and since James wasn't holding on, he gets tossed into the center of the raft and it was all funny we were dying of laughter at the end of the ride.
Also, since James and I were the first riders on Catapult, the ride-op went over the PA to say "welcome to the first ride of the day for Catapult, make sure to write a good review on Theme Park Review."
I was wearing my hoodie, so here's my review of catapult.
It's a fun ride and it gives you some great views and a nice head rush. Great job to the SFNE Maintenance team for getting all the kinks out of the ride.

Hey, when I went to SFNE today, I picked up three big maps. Two of which are already on hold for two people, and a third that's up for grabs. So let me know if you want to trade.
BTW, I already got a SFMM park map, any other park will be good.

^ I thought you were going to GAdv on the 20th.

Guys, it's not as bad as lasts year breakdown and will be back in operation in a few weeks.
How is it not bad as last time?
-
omg, that's amazing. You should really submit the idea to Disney and see what they think.
Great Job!

Sounds to me like an adjustment was not made reguarding the empty train vrs. full and the system overlaunched and sent the catch car into it's brakes too hard.
Of course I know nothing and that's all speculation, but it may explain the bang!
Meh...the real news is that the Batman side of Chiller is open!!!
-Don
I thought the train was weighed before launch to calculate how fast the train needs to go to get the train over the top hat.
-
^ James, stop stealing the Phillsbury Doughboy.
-
Thanks For Asking Na it is fine. I witnessed it and it was bad. I was the one who actually wrote this! I also think this is a great thought.
The train launched and the catch car did not stop near the end sending up sparks and then boom the catch car hit the end of the track!
lol, sorry for not including the screen name. But yeah, that sorta sounds almost like the cable snapped because how you mentioned the catch car hit the end of the track.
-
They could have just witnessed water shooting when it was launching and thaught it was sparks..becuase water shoots up I guess to cool the track and cable down so there isn't a lot of friction (and becuase if it overheats the ride program shuts down)...??? can someone confirm this??
Kingda Ka doesn't give off a loud bang when water is shooting up.
Another poster said who was in the station when this happend, he said that once the train rolled into the brake run, the ride-op told them to leave the station ASAP and that area of the golden kingdom was closed off. So it isn't water.
-
No official notice has come out, but someone told me that Kingda Ka had a major break down today. So I went to gadv.com and found some info on it.
Here's what one of the posters witnessed
Ok today at 9:45 Ka broke down on the switchtrack. I thought no biggie! The 20 min later they test it and boom all I hear is this loud roar at the end of the launch track. People said Ka had sparks flying everywhere and stuff. I seriously felt like I was witnessing FinalD4!Well Ka is pretty much screwed as of now. I didn't see any break fins pop up and it did clear the tower. The key factors in this could be breaks, train, fins, or catch car! It does not look good
Does anyone know, when TTD snapped a cable, did it do something like what KK did?
-
When Is this supposed to officialy open?
My guess would be sometime in June. They haven't finished the track yet nor tested.
Of course, that would be interesting to see them testing without a completed track.
-
Hey Sean, weren't you planning on giving the SFNE model to SFNE so they could showcase it? I remember you saying something like that a few years back on the sfne.com forums when you started the amazing project. which btw, looks really good.
-
^ Wow, those CD's sure had a lot of speed in them, and that one CD that did three loops up the ramp was amazing.
-
^Yeah, they did. They put CDs in microwaves and water etc. Did all kinds of abuse on them. Then put them in the drive, hoping for a CD to explode. It was brillaint to watch, but then they linked it up to a really fast driver (I cant remember what it was) and the CDs exploded in less than a second.
I think it was a regular motor drive, not intented for regular CD use. Because I remember seeing that mythbusters and they wanted to see how fast a CD can go before breaking. What was neat was the slow cam that showed the CD in slowmotion actually bending in a wave like motion while spinning.
Angry, I belive I got a solution for you, I'll PM it to you

Wait, you met Taco on here? I love Taco!
Partially, he also posted on sfne.com but there was a period where he didn't, and during that period TPR forums started up, so I posted with him a bit, then got to talking on AIM, but i don't when; I think a few months ago.
