  1. Not quite, the are not completely the same but does not resemble the old maps at all especially from the 70's, 80's, and 90's. 1992 1999
  2. Kings Dominion has released their 2014 map! Some changes to look forward to this season that has not already been announced by the look of the map. Triple Spin has been renamed to Bad Apple, and Trials End Grill has been renamed to the original Hungry Hippo which was in operation from 1975-1996. 40th Anniversary, HERE WE COME! https://www.kingsdominion.com/plan-a-visit/park-map
  3. A look back decades ago, old timers of Kings Dominion may remember the Floral Clock which was displayed down Central Walkway of the Eiffel Tower before entering Candy Apple Grove. This iconic scenery was removed at the end of the 1992 season and missed by many. It's making a grand return this season for the 40th Anniversary Celebration! Construction photo credit, by Kings Dominion which was taken last week.
  4. 1981 promo commercial featuring Galaxie, Monster, King Kobra, and more pastime attractions from the Golden Years. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  5. Check out King Kobra when it was featured on American Screams with Vincent Price from 1981. I watched this VHS tape over 100 times back in the 90's, so many memories!
  6. A perspective of how the park has changed over the years. The top view is from 1985 which a year before King Kobra was saying its goodbyes and the second season of Diamond Falls. Also, check out the entire Lake Charles!
  7. For all of our Kings Dominion throwback fans, check out a walk through of "Yogi's Cave" dating back to the early 90's.
  8. Pulled from our "KD Golden Years" Youtube Channel, here we have the promo commercial which launched In 1976. The slogan was "Five Big Worlds of Fantasy all rolled into one" which was the grand opening of the original Candy Apple Grove. I'm sure our new Candy Apple Grove/40th Anniversary Celebration commercial will not be as vintage as 1976, but here's a step back into time 37 years ago! Our Youtube Channel with more of Kings Dominion vintage footage/commercials at...https://www.youtube.com/user/KDGoldenYears [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  9. Taken from our "KD Golden Years" page on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/pages/KD-Golden-Years/229513350522757) here's a look back to 1979 of the crew that created "The Lost World"(at the time), home of Voyage to Atlantis, The Time Shaft, and Land of Dooz.
  10. So glad I was about to get my credit on Rolling Thunder a few years ago, a great classic that's going to be missed!
  11. ^^ AWESOME! Check out this short vid I created from the film...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHb39vqyG4I
  12. From our KD Golden Year page on FB, a POV glimpse of George Spegal from the '77 film "Rollercoaster". Check out Rebel Yell's station, there were no air gates and the loading/unloading platforms were on opposite sides.
  13. No problem! That is true. Even at one point, there were divers along with the ski team.
  14. From our "KD Golden Year" FB page--Anaconda/drained Lake Charles from the off season of '95. During this time, it's pumped out for rehab. Travel back down memory lane of the Golden Years... https://www.facebook.com/pages/KD-Golden-Years/229513350522757
  15. "Old Dominion Line" was one of KD's most popular family attractions in the Golden Years. Operated from 1975-1995. I was so sad to see it go. Paramount got rid of a lot of Kings Dominion's family attractions/rides.
  16. What? "Mille" Millennium Force----"Timmy" Intimidator305 I know that. Look at the part I put in bold for emphasis Oh, Like I said, I love both..BUT similar stating they are both Giga's. No comparison far as Mile is a much longer "relaxed/coasting" but awesome experience vs Timmy is quick and full of intensity, put "tears" in my eyes every time! lol.
  17. What? "Mille" Millennium Force----"Timmy" Intimidator305
  18. I've only been to IOA and Universal in Fl..out of both park, "Revenge of the Mummy" is hands down for me! It's actually in my top 5 overall coaster list.
  19. Milli & Timmy are similar but no comparison. I love both!
