I'd love a Steel Venom clone at WOF, or a Tempesto clone. I think both would fit well at the park. -

1. Yes, crowds should be quite moderate; this early in the summer it's not too bad anyway, and rain will help that. Kansas City doesn't see a lot of tourism, so park visitors are mostly locals who can easily choose a different day. 2. Go straight to Spinning Dragons. It easily has the longest lines of any coaster due to low capacity. Patriot should be next, so that the line for the front won't be too long yet, and it really is much better there (that's normally true of inverts, but I find the pacing best in the front as well, especially on the zero-G roll). Then Prowler, Boomerang, and finish with Mamba. Mamba is super high capacity, much higher than any other coaster there, so even though it will see a lot of riders, the line's never bad for it. Last you can do the Wacky Worm if you have children, or if you're a credit whore. 3. Jayke pretty much nailed it in his answer. The maintenance director told me today that the ride should open this weekend. -

It's impossible to upkeep on something like that. Worlds of Fun was the only park to have them installed professionally, which involved a process of stapling the LED's to trees. As the trees grew over time, the lights started looking bad because they were pretty much choking the trees they were attached to, forcing them to break. Hope this helps -

Very normal testing procedure. Nothing to worry about. I'm pretty sure that needs to happen every day in order to operate. Steelhawk has been running flawlessly except for a power outage in May where almost all of Americana's rides went down. -

I have read threads on every cedar fair park. Every year everyone has high expectations. We can all hope some of the older cedar fair parks finally get some love. I feel since the Paramount purchase, the other parks haven't received as much attention. Lets all hope for a big year! Yes, but WOF is the only park to announce that something WILL be built next year, via their enthusiast event. -

It's usually pretty crowded. Not too bad, but expect some lines. -

I think it will be a transformation into a topper track wooden coaster rather than an I-box transformation. If this is true, and all goes well, I think Ghostrider and Mean Streak will follow suit. I went to Coaster Mayhem this year at WOF and asked them if they had been talking to RMC recently (as a joke) and he said yes. He said they were in talks with RMC and GCI. Even if nothing comes of it, what is on Screamscape is true. RMC also announced that they have FOUR projects for 2017, hmmmm.... As for the dark ride, that is realistic too. I asked him "Is a dark ride coming to WOF in 2016/2017?", and he responded with "That hits a little too close to home...", then the GM and the maintenance director laughed nervously. -

For all who are wondering, Ed Alonzo will be back at WOF for Haunt in 2015 with an all new show. He confirmed it at his shows at his last three shows Sunday. And for all who don't know, Murder Mansion will be next year's new maze. It will be a permanent building next to Timberwolf and Steelhawk. -

Just got back from riding Steelhawk today. While it is a bit boring and short, it does give an amazing view. The one huge problem I have is with loading. This thing is literally the worst ride I have ever seen loading time wise. It took about TEN MINUTES (dead serious, no exaggeration) the first time I rode. They kept releasing lap bars over and over again. They checked me about six times. The good news is it is Steelhawk's first weekend and they will get better. Overall, the ride is a nice addition to WOF, just not thrilling enough for my taste. It's is open all the way!! May not seem like a big deal to other people considering it's just a windseeker, but it has an interesting story and took forever to open. But it means a lot to the people who don't have much else except worlds of fun like me. I have a question to the people who have windseekers at their parks. How comfortable are they? They look pretty fine The seats are very comfortable in my opinion. When I rode Skyscreamer in St. Louis, I was not a fan of the tight restraints. These restraints are very freeing and give you TONS of room. The seats are actually the main reason I prefer Steelhawk over Skyscreamer. -

Steelhawk: not open. They weren't working on it nor testing it on Wednesday, the day it was rumored to open. 2015: I see the Thunderhawk area/Europa area getting what Valleyfair and Cedar Point got this year (a few new flats plus rehab) -

I rode Mamba last night and saw what looked like a construction site (dirt field) next to Mamba's first drop. I may have been just seeing things since it was at night, but it looked as though there was a huge dirt pile next to the drop. -

I'm going there today as well. I'll try to get a few photos of the Steelhawk plaza as well. -
Worlds of Fun screams out to me in my opinion. When you say "deserves" I think the park need to justify it's coaster purchase as well. Worlds of Fun has been growing attendance-wise tremendously in the last few years. This year was their highest year on record. Plus, WOF has some much land right how. They could build almost anything in the front. Prowler will be six years old in 2015. I think it's time for something new.

I went to check out Worlds of Fun on opening day, and we had a blast. We stayed all night for the campout, and while the event wasn't anything spectacular, it was still a lot of fun. We woke up early for ERT on Patriot (which they couldn't get going til about 20 min.Into the ERT) and the employees actually did a very good job, especially for their fist day on the job. One thing that many people didn't realize going to the park was that Steelhawk was NOT open, making many guests angry. I think WOF should have done a better job getting out the message that the brand new, 300 ft. SBNO ride would not be ready. They didn't post it on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. I could see why many guests were upset. I also got a chance to check out the new Cedar Fair in-park TV program, called Fun TV. It displayed trivia, news, ads for in-park services ( of course) and the weather. It was actually very cool and entertaining IMO. And they used special TV's so that they ARE visible in direct sunlight. Otherwise, fantastic opening day. I think the only rides down all day were Steelhawk, Thunderhawk, And Octopus. And with the consistant 70-80 degree weather all day, I think this might be the best opening day I've been to at WOF. I also took a video of Opening Day, which includes a few shots of Steelhawk and a lot of slow motion shots. Sorry that it's not available on mobile, but I hope you enjoy: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iIyh-JHwzB4 Here are some pictures: Entering the park for Patriot ERT In line for the last ride on ERT trim.983134F9-6CE3-44AB-9122-41E4A7A0DA63.MOV You can even see Steelhawk from the Africa section of the park A view of Steelhawk walking back to Americana section Steelhawk on the 2014 Worlds of Fun map Also found this interesting. The park now teases 11 extreme haunts, up from 10 last year -

I think they are installing LED's right now. All I know is the ride most likely will NOT be open on Opening Day (straight from the park). On another note, here's another picture I took today of Steelhawk from another angle: I never realized how clean cut Patriot's lay out was. Very nice. You like it). We'll happily trade it for Banshee -

Yes they do. I'm assuming your talking about the Orient Express lot? But I'm almost positive that all that landis their's. I don't see a roller coaster coming in 2015. Maybe a flat ride. I do know people with close ties to the PR department that get to know all the expansion plans first, and they are doubting anything big. I'm thinking the possibly biggest expansion for next year could be a dark ride. 2016 sounds like the year. Here's what I think is happening: Worlds of Fun is soon to become a park that gets used rides and used rollercoasters. They're lineup is very good for the size park they have, including a great coaster trio (Prowler, Patriot, and Mamba), and I don't think Cedar Fair can justify adding another one. I see a rollercoaster replacing a Timber Wolf in 2016, then I think we will be set for a while. -

If they were wanting to revive a dead area of the park, I would think they would put Steelhawk where Thunderhawk was, considering that area is always very dead and sad to look at. They got a new maintenance director directly from Disney last year, and he seemed very dedicated to a new 5 year plan he developed to fix up areas of the park that need it. We'll have to see, but I think they will do a good job keeping it up.
