  1. I do not see Darien Lake as having a low coaster count at all. If Lake Monster is a go, it will be a pretty big addition for the park. If the park really wants to get back on the map, I feel that 3 major coasters have to be at the park. RoS and Lake Monster would be 2, and maybe another new coaster will come in around 5 years. Right now, the only reason for a person would travel a far distance to the park would be for RoS. Lake Monster would be another reason when built. Think about it, would people go to Cedar Point if coasters like TTD, Millennium, Gatekeeper, and Maverick didn't exist?
  2. I would like to see some teasers for next years plans. I have heard so many rumors as to what will happen that I have no idea what is true and what's not. Lake Monster was planned to open in 2014 according to the e-mail sent out, but who knows? Anything is possible. Last year, Blast Off was officially announced in late or mid September.
  3. ^Yeah it did. This season the sleighs have been upholstered too. The ride is being refurbished little by little every season. It was to my understanding that a lot of electrical issues have plagued Raging Seas, so it was better just to remove it instead of dishing out more money to an old ride. There is a similar ride at Marineland anyways.
  4. Blast Off doesn't seem like a failure to me. Every time I have visited the park, the line is packed. I would say that it has a longer line then RoS. But many factors can say that it was a failure. Attendance really overall hasn't changed, and the ride continues to be a mechanical nightmare. Its low capacity doesn't help the issue either. If the park is seriously considering a "rebuild" however, this is a step in the right direction. If you ask any person, would they rather have a thrilling drop tower, or an old Himalaya type ride, the answer will be drop tower 8/10 times. It was Raging Seas' time to go, and it was a good decision for the park, seeing that Sleighride is a very similar ride anyways. Edit- Blast Off cost the park 1.5 million dollars, and I remember seeing an interview from the president(?) of SDC saying that a park wants 20% of a boost in income. So the park was expecting about 300,000 dollars back from that investment. Overall, the park spent 5 mil this year on improvements, so maybe the goal of 1 million back wasn't reached yet.
  5. Did the crew members specify if Lake Monster is indeed an RMC creation, and/or if it will replace Predator?
  6. ^^Even if it was owned by DL and in good condition, I wouldn't want it built because it's an old Giovanola, and would run badly. If a stand-up was ever built, it should be new.
  7. ^At least all of the Galaxy Theater speculation has stopped.
  8. Bad news for RoS. As the train was coming into the station the brakes closed. A maintenance guy went to manually unlock the brakes and something shot out at him. He had about a 2 inch cut on his head and was bleeding badly. RoS may or may not reopen today. The passengers were being evacuated with a ladder. Edit- Corn Popper is closed for the season according to DL's app.
  9. Intamins do cause a lot of work for maintenance, especially Hypers and higher. As old as Arrow loopers are, I have seen some that have many problems, and some that are more reliable then some newer coasters. I guess it all depends on how well the park takes care of them.
  10. How large would the area be? It could take record of largest (not longest) coaster from Dragon Mountain at Marineland. If I'm not mistaken, the record is currently over 30 acres.
  11. I've only seen like 4 people ever use the system when it was around. It's senseless to use it now, but the park really does need to consider doing more maintenance in the winter rather than in the middle of the year. I think that everything (besides Boomerang, M.E., and Moto) will run two trains next year because if Lake Monster goes through, attendance will skyrocket.
  12. I only remember a Flash Pass like system called Rapid Ride after the park was sold. I have heard nothing about it recently.
  13. It would be fine with me if they ran one train during the week. I went last year on Thursdays and it wasn't really packed. But on Fridays and on the weekend, two trains are a must. If the park doesn't want to run two trains all of the time, there were these great things invented called transfer tracks. The park should learn how to use them.
  14. I think that the announcement is so early so that vertical construction can start. Then the speculation will stop, and everyone will know what is being built.
  15. ^No, the zipline was just set up for the movie.
  16. It is very unusual for a 5 minute wait on any ride at DL. Maybe the weather drove a lot of people away. I usually go every weekend, and on a normal summer weekend, RoS will average a 30-45 minute wait depending on the crew working and if everything goes good maintenance wise.
  17. Funny you mention that about the decals falling off, a couple of weeks ago, it read "de of Steel". It was quickly fixed, but now it fell off again. If this is the reason for the blue train being off (refurbishment) the park should be ashamed. No reason for one train operations even if there is a 5 minute wait.
  18. I don't think so. Most of the time it's closed and I would rather see something more reliable and fun replace it.
  19. I have no idea what refurbishment means on Cuda Falls. The ride was just repainted and it was running fine the last time I rode it. I've heard many rumors around the park that range from the ride has pump problems to the ride is just getting taken down. If it does, I wouldn't be surprised if a Hydro Racer type ride is put in, because the land is already a hill and a lot of other parks seem happy with them. For right now, it seems like anything can happen next season.
  20. Last season, UFO did close early, but I don't ever recall once seeing a mechanic working on it. Shipwreck Falls was closed for the first half of the season to get the lift fixed, and Hook's Lagoon was closed mid-season too so it could be coated with non-slip paint.
  21. ^Rodeo Round Up wasn't removed, it was just renamed Corn Popper.
  22. I could see the Frisbee going in UFO's spot. The ride pad is still there, and it is circular. I wish that the survey would have included all of the new ideas.
  23. According to Screamscape, another survey has been given out. This one features a Huss Frisbee that would be called Sidewinder. There were no pictures shown.
  24. Another thing that I just thought, was that if Predator is going to be demolished, DL should at least give warning on their FB page so that everyone can get their last rides in.
  25. I will miss Predator because it has gotten better and is an airtime machine, but I am very excited to see the new transformation. This could put Darien Lake back on the map. If this coaster is successful, we may even see more in the near future.
