I just went to that park late July, and I must say, I really liked it! Where I live, CP and KI don't have those types of Vekoma's, so I was actually really excited to be able to ride the Boomerang and Mind Eraser - both weren't too bad (as I always heard Vekoma's being the worst when it comes to headbanging). It was also awesome to ride one of the few remaining Arrow launched loop coasters - best Arrow I've rode on. Overall, nice little park for a city; wish Indiana offered something like that that isn't primarily a water park.

How busy is the park on Sundays in September? I'm going the 15th, which is the first weekend for Halloweekends.

Sorry for bumping an old thread. Gonna visit Elitch Gardens for the first time. Not looking forward to some rides; all they have is Vekoma's and an Arrow. They do have an Intamin, but I just hope it won't be down when we go there.

I rode the Corkscrew at Cedar Point, and it wasn't nearly as rough as I remembered it. As long as you concentrate on keeping your head still through the corkscrews, you barely hit your head against the restraints. It does hurt your back, however.

Love the sound of Raptor at Cedar Point as it goes down the drop and into the loop. TTD's launch is awesome as well. The click-click sound of Gatekeeper turning to go up the lift hill is easily recognizable.

Just got back from my Cedar Point trip yesterday night. For a Tuesday, man was the park busy! Even Corkscrew had a half an hour wait, while Raptor's shortest line got to 45 min. I didn't get to ride as much coasters as I wanted to; definitely considering buying a fast pass next time I go there. I didn't have a chance to ride Maverick once again, sadly. The Corkscrew has to be my favorite coaster in terms of looks. Everytime we passed by it, I would wait until a train came by just to watch the riders go over my heads. It's not as rough as I thought it'd be, and the first time I got on it, I was not expecting that airtime on the hills. As long as you concentrate on keeping your head still through the ride - especially the corkscrews - it's not a bad ride. Rode it twice; probably my second favorite coaster. The Gemini made me a little sick to my stomach, especially the first drop; airtime is not my friend. The best part of the ride is going though the turns and everyone clapping hands and talking to each other. It's not a smooth ride, but a very fun one nonetheless. I rode the Iron Dragon next, at the very back. The airtime on the first drop blew me away. The rest of the ride is kinda rough, but a nice way to get a good breeze or to chat with the person sitting next to you. I love the helix at the end of the ride. I went on the Cedar Creek Mine Ride twice - and believe me, it's not friendly to your hips or your neck. The quick, sharp turns really jolt you around, but I do love the helix at the end of the ride. Woodstock Express is a little intense for a kid ride, considering how fast it seems to go through the turns and how rough it is. The Raptor is my favorite ride at the park; very smooth and lots of twists and turns. The sudden stop at the end is something you gotta prepare for if you don't wanna hit your head at on the side, however. I nearly lost my cell phone on the ride cause the ride operator tightened the restraints and my phone came out of my pocket, I ended up tucking it in my shirt, and surprisingly it stayed in. My mom was gonna ride the Dragster, but sadly it broke down as soon as she sat down, which was around 7:30; it probably stayed that way the rest of the day too. And finally, the Gatekeeper. It looks much more intimidating in person, and with the new entrance, it's awesome to see the trains flip right through the keyholes. As for the ride itself...it was fun, the ride didn't have intense airtime (something I was so happy about!), and going through those keyholes made for an awesome experience. The ads and hype for the ride make it seem better than it does. For a B&M, it wasn't a smooth ride, kinda rough if you ask me. The restraints did get really tight at the end as well. Some people are saying Gatekeeper's restraints should be used on Maverick, but I can imagine since Maverick's ride is much faster and more intense, people would be gagging and struggling to breath by the end of the ride. I wonder if they'll eventually fix the restraint problem by this season or next if enough people complain about it.

About ready to visit Cedar Point tomorrow! I'm hoping that none of the rides will be down, nor will any be very long. Do you guys recommend beginning at the back of the park, then working our way towards the front? I'd expect the lines for the coasters in the back of the park to be shorter in the morning, so I might wait less for a ride on Maverick.

You know...there's recently been a trend with parks removing Arrow/Vekoma roller coasters...I wonder if that means the Corkscrew will sometime be next...I do doubt it, however; Corkscrew is a good coaster for those wanting to experience their first inversion. This has been bugging me for a while, but I was recently looking up videos of Maverick testing (2007; before the heartline roll was removed). What exactly is the difference between a heartline roll and an inversion? How does one create more stress on the trains than the other?

Does TPR have any info on their Midwest trip? Like what day they'll be at Cedar Point? I'm not part of the trip, but it'd be awesome to meet Robb or any other TPR members. Also, did CP permanently take down their live cam from the park, the one near Maverick? I would've liked seeing that rather than the current webcams.

Quick question: are you allowed to wear a fanny pack on most of the roller coasters? Has anyone done so to confirm it's true? I know you can't on Top Thrill or Millennium, but what about Gatekeeper?

This is kinda off-topic, but has anyone met Single Rider Bob at Cedar Point? I think it'd be so neat to meet him, along with the guy that raps in the MF line.

I doubt that CP would ever do this, but when Corkscrew breaks down permanently, they should at least keep the corkscrew section sprawling over the midway; seriously, that section of the park is my favorite. I love seeing the train whoosh right over your head.

Hey Robb, do you have any other videos on Media Day/Opening Day at CP besides just the Gatekeeper shots? Like any footage of well...other rides/walking around? I'm curious about the crowds those days and what all else was happening. Were the lines for the other coasters relatively short?

Hopefully, when I go to Cedar Point, the lines for other rides will be shorter - if only slightly. I am not willing to wait for more than an hour and a half for Maverick (although that's unlikely cause that line is always that long). Anyways, the wind really caused Gatekeeper to shut down? Hmm...I wander if that'll cause some problems in the future, as some say it wasn't just the wind/rain.

That would suck if Iron Dragon was torn down or removed - it's one of the few 'beginner' rides at CP - not too intense for those who've never ridden a roller coaster before. Also, it's one of the few Arrow Suspended coasters left. If CP were to remove a ride, it'd have to be Mean Streak. Also, GK looks amazing! Can't wait to go keyholing!

Who's excited for the official POV of Gatekeeper on Monday? I can't wait! But I bet it'll make the ride even more scary for me...

Oh, I'm so excited to ride it! Still a little nervous because of the first drop, though; not a big fan of airtime. I'd rather have loops and corkscrews than lots of airtime. Planning on riding either front seat or near it when I ride it because it apparently isn't as affected by airtime as much and you get more intense g-forces going through the loops/etc. Hope I can get near the front seat for Maverick.

Here is a quick question: is early June - like the first two weeks - a good day to go to CP? Will most of the rides be walk-on or short waiting time? Considering there is a new coaster, it might be a little more crowded then usual. I'm planning on going Tuesday the 11th. The school around the Sandusky area gets out around June 5th, so I won't have to worry about school trips there. Also, my family is staying at Sandcastle Suites; how long is the walk to CP from that hotel?

Anything interesting on the park guide/map? Or just the same thing? Does it say anything interesting or 'new' about the Gatekeeper? I'm planning to go to CP on June 11, a month after opening. Do you think crowds will be lessened a little by then? My mother doesn't want to go later in the summer due to hot weather, and we can't go September/October due to school (as we'd only go mid-week). We are going on a Tuesday; that should mean less people, since those taking longer weekends at CP might be gone.

^ I went last summer on a Thursday, and most of the rides had less than 30 min waiting times - MF, TTD, and Maverick had longer lines, at least 45 min to 1 hour waits - but died down as night went on. CP was going to close in about an hour and a half, and Maverick still had more than an hour wait. Needless to say, I was partially glad I didn't get to ride it; the 95 degree drop scared me, but I'd rather ride that one than the MF!

If Cedar Point created a ride like the S&S Free Fly one, it'd be awesome. CP doesn't have much 'family-friendly' coasters and this one would be perfect.

I'm curious: how is the opening weekend for Cedar Point usually? I can imagine the park being extremely busy, especially this year with Gatekeeper. I wonder if this ride will prove to be more popular then Maverick, since Maverick usually has the longest line in the park any time during the day. Maybe with Gatekeeper around, I'll finally be able to ride Maverick. Any of you guys going opening weekend? I can't cause of school and no transportation to get there, but I hate busy places, and I can't imagine how long the lines will be. Haha, I bet even the Blue Streak will have a long wait despite that ride being empty a lot.

As long as it's either in Cedar Point or King's Island, I could possibly go. Those are the only theme parks that are actually 'close' to me.

I will definitely try La Vibora because I never got the chance to ride a bobsled coaster before - there used to be one in Cedar Point, but I went to the park after it got shut down.
