  1. ^A canopy would make more sense because nothing in Full Throttle's area actually matches I think that's the areas biggest downfall
  2. Here you go, Full Throttle now has a permanent station cover but lets first reflect on the previous attempts... Opening day (this did nothing) If it rains oh well... It's permanent, slanted, and better than what stood before it (that's not saying much).
  3. That particular day happens to be bring a friend free day for season pass holders I think that's a good reason to avoid the park.
  4. The problem with Green Lantern is not necessarily the whole balancing act but rather how the cars run through the course. If your familiar with Insane and see any videos of the ride you'll notice the trains have a much wider range of freedom to rotate throughout the course. Green Lanterns trains on the other hand are toned down to the point where rather then the cars flipping they simply rock back and forth with the occasional flip or two. The balancing and weight configuration can play a role in the number of flips but the train configuration plays the larger role in why the trains tend to rock rather than flip. With the trains tending to rock back and forth it tends to place more force on the rider which can translate to a less enjoyable ride. Especially if you have ever experienced the entire 2nd half of the ride upside down. Some trains are better than others specifically if the train has returned to operation after it's annual maintenance the train will tend to be a little sluggish in its rotations until the train has been broken in. And yes weight can play a role specifically if you add a lot of wight to one side the car will flip like crazy. This is just the few things I've noticed with Green Lantern it's rare to see the ride flip like Insane.
  5. Some people seem to get good rides on GL but for some reason the multiple rides in 2011 just kept getting worse so I stopped riding it. As for Tatsu I would recommend the front so you can focus on the track in front of you, although I have never experienced any disorientation so I might be the wrong person to answer. Sometimes Goliath's helix disorients me but I usually just close my eyes this only occurs after multiple laps on Goliath.
  6. Train 2 seems to provide a ''smoother" ride. Train 1 seems to have this relentless vibration thus resulting in a rougher ride at least that's what I've noticed on the few rides I've had on Apocalypse this year. It's the one ride, for whatever reason I just cant enjoy and the only time I rode it was 2011 and I never looked back.
  7. Correct me if I'm wrong, but does this mean that YOLOcoaster is finally getting a permanent station structure? Yes, the park filed for the permit a few weeks ago.
  8. Yes, but wasn't that a benefit that they stopped using the unload station on X2? Because it took longer for them to bring the seats to an upright position so people can get out only to have to lower them again to a tilted position to move the train to the load section only to have to bring them back to an upright so people can load. I believe they eliminated that station to save on ride cycle time. Yes, X2 with one station is much better than the two station configuration from the original X days. And the new trains helped a lot with cycle times and reliability.
  9. On most of my visits it's been closed, depends on the day really and no I don't see the Sky Tower going anywhere anytime soon. The stage should return in the summer of 2014 and yes the area is a giant slab of concrete with some already faded paint and a ride that shall I say feels incomplete.
  10. YOLOCoaster's capacity is now comparable to a poorly run Wild Mouse. Wow. Again, why can't they train ride ops better? Eventually, the GP are going to realize that the management sucks. One of the problems may be the ops but honestly I blame the people who can't listen when the ops clearly tell them to not pull down the lap bar. Every single time a train was in the station the ops would tell them before boarding to not pull down the lap bar and they still do. Thus forcing them to recheck the entire train. As an op I would find this very frustrating if people can't listen to a simple request. The other problem lies in how the seat belts where put on the train once you pull down the lap bar theirs no way for the ops to check the seat belt so the request of not pulling the lap bar is implemented. And yes the slow down is probably the result of the ops moving slower too.
  11. Six Flags Magic Mountain update November 23, 2013 All the new stuff for 2014 X2 is still closed Random Full Throttle photo Snow globe that's all the Holiday decorations you'll probably ever see at Magic Mountain The stage has been removed Crowds where pretty light yesterday Line for Full Throttle for most of the day (Its deceptive) With the addition of seat belts the wait is much longer Random photo of Full Throttle's LSM's After only a few months of operation the wheels have already left their mark Your free to chose your seat now at least we could yesterday The sign always mentioned seat belts so no need to change that The seat belts do nothing to the ride experience they only effect the dispatch times. You can no longer pull down the lapt bar if you do the entire train has to be unlocked and rechecked. The same policy holds true for Goliath. Random Tatsu photo This is all that remains of the General Sam tree, nothing but dirt High Sierra Territory is basically no more, the theme doesn't even make sense anymore Nope no tree It really makes quite a difference to the surrounding area now that the tree is gone, the area feels much better for some reason. Up close and personal with some dirt Hopefully these buildings are leveled too they make absolutely no sense in there current location Something's missing in this photo A better photo for anyone who cares Goliath Oh, the monorail is finally removed took them long enough. Intamin cables and some magnets too 4 Intamin cables Lex Luthor the soon to be second tallest drop ride in the world Hey RMC here's that longer coaster you asked for Colossus is now running one train Well actually two but you couldn't ride in the red train don't understand why they do this but oh well, and no Colossus doesn't have seat belts. Backwards trains already ready for next year. Batman's should be on the track soon. Scream is back to two trains And still needs a paint job One of Green Lanterns trains is getting some work done I like the look of the ride but I hate to ride it No seat belts to report Goliath or Batman Apocalypse's track is in pretty rough shape in some areas Full Throttle or Tatsu See even the warning signs are rough around the edges and faded Always enjoy this time of year and Magic Mountain stop removing trees One of my favorite photos from the day This part delivers the same feeling even with seat belts Sky tower was closed Its not for anything new or is it? Question for anyone who actually reads these things This is just a question nothing indicates that the ’’ride‘‘ is going anywhere but, What if Magic Mountain where to remove the Sky Tower and replaced it with something else? Considering the trend of removing rides and structures of years past. The Sky Tower tends to be closed more often than its open and hardly anyone really goes up there throughout the day. Just a thought really, love to hear what anyone else has to say. I don't think the park would consider removing it unless the opportunity presented itself to make a return on some new investment or the tower reaches the end of its recommended length of operation. The new chain is installed so hopefully X2 reopens soon Another reason why I like this time of year And one more for good messure Oh, and the ending is always fun Anyone know what ride this is from? Hope you enjoyed the update!
  12. It was even worse yesterday almost double that, about 4 minutes a dispatch in some cases
  13. My problem with seat belts is dispatch times which have nearly doubled if not trippled in length on Full Throttle.
  14. From what I've heard X2 could possibly reopen this weekend but things can happen so that could change. I've heard the park wants to get X2 open before the holidays.
  15. There's no difference, rides exactly the same other than a slight decrease in dispatch times.
  16. Yes, it's being removed sometime this week or the next Right above Full Throttles top hat you can see the cut line From a far
  17. What do you think will happen with that? When do you expect it to close and reopen? My best estimate run it backwards March through Memorial Day weekend then reopen in summer of 2015.
