  1. Impulse doesn't mean "launched" does it? What other rides are associated with the word "impulse" aside from Intamin's inverted impulse coaster?
  2. A dark ride based on Cronnenberg's The Fly. At one point you get digestive goo spewed in your face.
  3. Green Lantern (SFGA) is your standard parking lot coaster I guess, but during the lift it really feels like it's in the middle of the parking lot, like it's barely even in the park.
  4. Neither exactly, the question isn't which inversion does the train enter at the highest speed, but which inversion are you traveling the fastest when you're actually upside-down.
  5. ^But you're not going anywhere near 70 mph at the top of the loop, the point at which you're actually inverted, that's why I don't think any larger inversion would really be up there.
  6. I googled this, and did a quick search on the forum, and couldn't find anything. If this is a known fact already or if there's already a thread about this, please feel free to lock/delete with extreme prejudice. I don't mean the fastest coaster that also has an inversion, I mean on what inversion, on what coaster, has the train going at the highest mph at the point at which your feet are over your head. No overbanks, I'm talking true inversions. I have a couple guesses. Some of the older B&M inverts might be up there, for instance I haven't ridden it but Flight Deck at CGA has an EXTREMELY fast looking corkscrew, though maybe with B&M's precision engineering, all of the similarly-sized corkscrews on Raptor and such would be around the same speed. Maverick's heartline roll may have been a contender if it hadn't been removed. iSpeed's corkscrew over the station also has to be up there. And this, this might just win: [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Am I missing any obvious ones?
  7. I don't know if it'll feel this way when you're riding it, but I think you could say the second half starts with the drop before the batwing. It's arbitrary of course but I break Talon up the same way. I'm overly analytical like that.
  8. Yeah, I'm really hoping if it isn't a total misdirection, it's a clue as to the ride's location (close to the main parking lot) rather than ride type.
  9. If that really is the control panel from Sklooosh, then we can be pretty sure it'll be a water ride. But wait, maybe it'll be a terrain water ride going down the side of the hill!!! Oooor, maybe those marks on the control panel are where they're placing the demolition charges so they can knock it down and put a coaster there.
  10. Ug. Oh well, all the speculation was fun while it lasted. Maybe they're relocating Roller Soaker. You can say only enthusiasts would be disappointed here, but if Knoebels had taken a poll among the GP about whether they'd rather get a new wooden coaster, or a new water ride, I strongly suspect I know what would win.
  11. Ok so getting away from the restraint issue for a moment (which IMO won't be settled until the ride opens and we find out for sure how tight they do or don't get), I've figured out what it is exactly that doesn't really appeal to me about Banshee's layout. This is all just my opinion, it could still be great ride despite this. And I promise this'll be my last comment on the subject. Of all the B&M inverts I've been on, of which there are five, the second half has always been my favorite. You've got the first half, with the first three or so bigger, show-offy inversions, which is ok and all, but then you've got the second half. Usually occuring after a MCBR, it's where the ride feels like it's really "getting down to business". This is where you get the smaller, tighter inversions (usually a corkscrew or two) and those fast low-to-the-ground turns. It's the part that really makes your head spin. Banshee, due to the elevation change, doesn't really have that. Every inversion is gigantic, like two first halves put together. It looks to me like the most intense parts of the ride might be the turnaround after the second loop and the helix right before the end, but those are separated by that long inline twist, breaking up the pacing. Again, all just my perspective. Any other comment I made about how "intense" Banshee looks was really just about this.
  12. I guess we have no reason to think he might've been talking out of his butt?
  13. I don't have the source off hand, but the park has mentioned that the restraints will have the modification that Gatekeepers restraints had in the 2nd half of the season; So there shouldn't be any tightening. I really wish people would read the forum better. The same stuff just gets said over and over. Do you think KI will be using zip ties?
  14. What you're talking about is accidental, a far cry from somebody intentionally lobbing something at an oncoming coaster train, for no reason other than to hurt a stranger. You'd have to be borderline psychotic to do that. I mean, we trust people to drive next to sidewalks without intentionally swerving to hit pedestrians, just because.
  15. I would LOVE for that to happen, I just don't know how likely it is considering we don't even know if they have permission to build there. Plus, they said they traveled all summer to find "it" (the new ride), and they wouldn't have to travel that far to find a GCI woodie. Given the info we have I just wouldn't get my hopes up.
  16. Mega-Lite... let's see. They've never worked with Intamin. It would be very expensive. Not very reliable. They have no place to put one. It has not even the slightest whiff of nostalgia, no connection to the past whatsoever. One doesn't exist in the US, meaning they wouldn't have found one by traveling to "at least three states". And it would have absolutely nothing that's marketable other than "trust us, it's a great ride". Why would it even be mentioned in this thread? Every time the words "Mega-Lite" is mentioned on this site, in the context of "speculation", I feel like there's sand being rubbed in my eye. But this would be one of the more ludicrous examples. I agree with some of your points but not others. Knoebels is positioning this as the fourth generation stepping out of the shadow of the third generation, so I wouldn't completely rule out something that is not traditional. And it'd easy to market since the existing models are so highly revered by enthusiasts. Also I don't recall any of the Mega Lite being unreliable. Lastly, Knoebels owns plenty of land. With all that said your comments about the three states rule out an MegaLite. Has a new coaster ever in the history of coasters been marketed primarily as "revered by enthusiasts"? The Phoenix has its "classic" status, it's a landmark, you can't compare them. I've read MLs have reliability issues like almost all Intamin coasters. How much land Knoebels owns is nebulous, but it's safe to say all the land they own is mountainous and covered in trees. You really see them blasting out a big flat space for anything, let alone a Mega Lite? The day any small US park gets a mega lite will be the day I officially eat my hat. I will videotape the event. Also, the "long distance calls" clue would seem to rule out anything GCI-related.

  18. I'm pretty sure there's going to be a lot more space between the drop tower car and the coaster track than you're picturing. I doubt you'll be able to even see the track on either side as you're going up. You'd need a heck of an arm to have a chance of hitting it (but wait, how much forward velocity could you possibly get when strapped into a chair with no room behind you for the "wind-up"?) and even then, there's lots of opportunity for crazy people to throw stuff at any coaster train that's near the path. This kind of stuff does get taken into consideration before multimillion dollar projects are started.
  19. I wonder how many of the people who mention this read what was posted in the "weird facts" thread: It's not like B&M came in and turned a key and magically fixed the vests, CP totally just jury rigged it. Not saying a real fix won't come, just saying that until it does, people have the right to be concerned, especially if this problem has been reported on wing coasters other than GateKeeper. One can assume KI will not be using zip ties.
  20. This is what I think every time this gets mentioned (which is pretty often). Didn't someone here say they don't even own the land their parking lot sits on? I think a GCI would be too "normal" for Knoebles who is looking for special rides. What makes you say that? They already have two wooden coasters that are as traditional as it gets. How would a GCI be too "normal"? I doubt it'll be a GCI, mind you, since why work with them when they could just do it in-house like Twister, but still. I don't think another wooden coaster would be too "normal".
  21. They could have themselves a 300-foot drop tower just by converting the Kissing Tower (think AtmosFear at Liseberg). Definitely the cheapest route for them to go, and while they'd be losing the family ride for the sake of a new thrill ride it certainly isn't overly popular nowadays. They can't get rid of the Kissing Tower, it's way too iconic. Plus, it wasn't designed to be a drop tower. Would doing a retrofit even be possible, and would it really save them that much money? I choose to believe the project is new restraints for Skyrush. I believe it because I choose to do so.
  22. It's got to be something new. A recreation, maybe, but definitely not a used ride. "The fourth generation is doing WHAT!?!?" Oooooh, a used mine ride from Freestyle Music Park! Those crazy loons!
  23. WOODEN WILD MOUSE!!!!!!!! (actually, the subtle hint that this is something a little "crazy" has me secretly hoping for an RMC...) Whatever it is, I hope it's big. I think it's high time Knoebels had its "Voyage", something people will travel across the country for.
  24. I'm assuming individual lap bars will only make the trains heavier, right? Chewing up the track even worse? Good news.
