  1. Holiday World never gave a deadline, and most of the people doing the challenge are just single people uploading it immediately onto Facebook from their phones. The original challenge was also that you would donate $10 for each person you nominated when they did it, but now to keep from donating, a lot of people say, "do it in 24 hours or you HAVE to donate $100."
  2. Or you could be positive for once and see it this way: At least three other Six Flags parks (Great Adventure, Over Georgia, and Discovery Kingdom) are rumored to be getting a horrible, low capacity carnival flat ride. Meanwhile, Six Flags St. Louis is replacing its rundown, low capacity dark ride with one that should be superior in every way. I think it's hard to think positive when your home park is SFSTL. YOUR GETTING A REVAMPED DARK RIDE AND NOT A CARNIVAL RIDE. Six Flags actually put THOUGHT into next year's addition for SFSTL, instead of another Boomerang. This time, SFSTL is getting a wise investment. If that isn't something to be positive about, I wonder if you actually WANT a Super Loop. Yes... and next year we should be positive when a few other Six Flags parks get a lowly pretzel stand and we at least get blessed with a nacho stand. Is coming on here enjoyable for you at all? I'm being completely serious because going through your post history, you just always seem so negative. If you can actually be this negative about the park adding a state-of-the-art dark ride, then there seems to be very little that could make you happy. There's a difference between joking about Six Flags and just being negative overall. The majority of visitors have the absolute time of their lives, and this addition is only going to make that even better. Even with the Tsunami Soaker, it may not be the biggest addition, the vast majority of people absolutely love it. You have the freedom of speech and every right to post, but a lot of your comments just seem condescending and dampen the mood for a lot of the people who come here excited to talk about the park.
  3. They couldn't figure out how to include an up-charge without appearing haughty. Or you could just wait. In order to make sure to include as many full time staff as possible, they are doing it during a full time employee event. In the mean time, many departments have been doing it here or there.
  4. That was a great list, and some of the acts really surprised me compared to the recent Christian concerts. There are so many things that go into choosing an act for a venue like Six Flags besides just the price of booking them. The great thing about the Christian acts is that the audience usually consists of a lot of adults. The amount of Guests that attend those concerts AND don't have season passes is pretty high. Besides the approx. $10 - 15 per ticket, the park is making a lot of money on the one day tickets for those folks. If you look on the other side of things, an act like Selena Gomez would definitely bring more teens in. However, especially in the STL area, a lot of those teens would already have season passes, which would mean that the park would make a lot less money on just the one day tickets. At the same time, with more famous names, the park can also charge more money for the tickets. It's crazy how much there is to think about when bringing in acts. I think that the park has seen huge influxes of one day tickets for the concerts the last two years, which mean that the Christian bands are a great balance for the park, even though people like myself may not be the biggest fans. Fun Fact: The park almost booked Carly Rae Jepsen (Call Me Maybe) for 2013.
  5. I think that would be awesome, but I have a feeling that without some heavy duty safety equipment, OSHA would throw a fit. Besides that need plenty of time to renovate. Speaking of Fright Fest, I recently saw testing for a fountain that was on fire. They had a big metal tub with a small fountain shooting up that actually had an impressive amount of flames on it. Not sure what it will be used for exactly, but it looked super cool like something seen at Disney or Universal.
  6. I can't wait to see SDC, Dollywood, and King's Island's responses. As for Six Flags St. Louis, all I can say is that it's probably gonna Freeze.
  7. I honestly don't see Hyena Falls being in a bad spot. If you look at all the area on the side of the Voyage that most of the water park resides on, it is very densely wooden land. Adding to that, there are some crazy big hills between Voyage and Mammoth. Why expand the water park in a hilly area with a ton of trees would need to be removed to build attractions that, overall, do not benefit from differing elevation? I would prefer that land saved for coasters where they could use the great terrain and not have to cut down as many trees. On the Hyena Falls side of the Voyage, the land is overall much flatter and devoid of trees. There is no doubt in my mind that Holiday World has a plan for the overall park expansion layout. With a clever crossing point at the former PP access tunnel area, I see no issues at all with the placement of Hyena Falls for future park expansion. It's just one of those things where we just need to trust HW management and watch announcements in the coming years. I'm not basing this off of any kind of insider knowledge but just my opinion of the area.
  8. From everything I've been told, the park doesn't have a real "height limit" like other parks do. Parks like Kentucky Kingdom are very close to airports, making the limit necessary. The vast majority of theme parks with height limits are near airports, but as our park is not, there is no height limit. The heights of the rides you mentioned are just by chance.
  9. Honestly, besides the Google errors that are not the fault of Six Flags, the new online park hours page has so many issues. Days will jump on and off the schedule. The water park hours may or may not show up. One day last week it was saying that the park was open from 3:30pm to 2:00am. I don't understand why they went for something so complicated when all you have to do is basically a picture of a pdf (see Holiday World: http://www.holidayworld.com/park-tickets/park-hours/ )
  10. I know a lot of people, including myself, do not like riding Ninja, however, I did learn something today from a few of the rides leads. Ninja has the highest throughput of Guests (most of the time) of any ride in the park. I don't see any reason to replace a coaster that actually a lot of the GP really likes, and it just means that there are less people in line for other rides.
  11. *Packaged children's markers Haha, I know it seems crazy, but have you seen some pictures of Gold Striker's queue at California's Great America? New ride and the entire queue is full of graffiti. Unfortunately some people ruin things for others. Plus, if there is an issue, the park can point to the policy. The only seasonal employees that can even have them are Guest Relations.
  12. You will just bring the five supplies (per ticket) to a tent that will be between metal detection and the ticket booths. Once you turn in your items, you will receive a coupon that you will then take up to the ticket booths. The most needed items include paper, pencils, crayons, markers, and glue/tape. Please do not bring scissors as they can not be allowed past security. The discount itself will make your ticket $29.24 plus tax. The supply drive will be going on August 4-8 and August 11-12.
  13. There was a power surge at the park this morning. I was actually on the Season Pass deck watching Freeze when it vallied. It was pretty cool, or at least that's what I thought jealously. A good amount of the rides were knocked out at least temporarily today. For example, Xcalibur was down for about a half hour. In Season Pass Services, the lights went out for a second when it surged. All I can say is that Ameren's new power connections coming this off season cannot come soon enough.
  14. I would have had the same opinion with the half video, half animatronics ride earlier this year, but after riding all of the great rides at Universal Orlando this March, I honestly think that it could turn out great with 3D glasses. Also, with the theme, it all has to do with money. The park is going to take anything they can get to renovate things, even if it means inconsistent themes. I look forward to future renovations, including next years until the entire park looks like a Palace! In terms of the Loony Tunes height boards, my guess would be that they got old and needed to be replaced. Apparently any character's likeness used in the park has to be approved by Warner Bros making it harder to do things like the Loony Tunes height boards.
  15. Maybe a return of the Villains Cafe? The sign is currently in storage behind the Boss and is visible from the train. I highly doubt it though. I'm guessing if it's a restaurant it'll be a restaurant for vegetarians since that seems to be the new trend in the chain. I was mainly happy that Villain's Cafe was changed because on two of the giant signs on the side of the building read "Villian's Cafe". Which signs? The signs aren't in that picture. They were only up for 2013 and made in house by the sign shop.

  17. Can you confirm if it will be a clone of the Justice League ride at the Warner Bros park in Australia? In U.S. dollars, that ride cost $8.5 million, not adjusted for inflation, so maybe corporate really isn't neglecting us as much as some people like to think. Don't expect that much. I wonder how much the ride would be with no pre-show and a downsized facade/queue theming. At the same time, I LOVED LOVED Scooby, but I am really excited for this. I also found out today that a DC licensed Batman costume costs $10,000.
  18. Due to its age, Scooby Doo needs a LOT of maintenance. So what does the park do? They decided to build a new dark ride that's even cooler than Scooby was originally. Instead of using the off-the-shelf Sally Dark Rides cars like Holiday World, the park is getting really cool looking cars. This ride is going to be awesome. The Scooby facade is completely coming down and loading station being covered. There are also a few great maintenance projects coming for 2015. Complaining about the way Batman plaza looks, especially now that Turbo Bungy is gone? Don't worry, the park is adding/replacing that area (no rides). Don't be all dramatic saying you're giving up hope on the park. Yea, it's not the greatest park, but it is actively getting better faster than it is declining. The park has an amazing B&M and Premier coaster. I see thousands of people every day who are having the time of their lives. You're definitely welcome to your opinion, and I definitely see where they are coming from. However, I think it might be good to be a little bit more optimistic.
  19. Am I the only one wondering what is going to become of the Pilgrims Plunge/Giraffica site? I was partially expecting that area to be included in this ride.
  20. The park doesn't want to run Superman at half capacity. If the ride was working perfectly it would be. However, Intamin builds finnicky rides that need constant maintenance and money poured into them. And seriously, if anyone has similar issues like the employee giving wrong change due to inattention, please let Guest Relations know on your way out. I know that not all team members seem enthusiastic all the time, but I can say that the majority of us love the park and care about delivering a great experience.
  21. Rode Scooby twice in a row at close tonight. I gotta say that I love the feeling of floating through the ride, however, the ride is definitely not in the best of shape. A lot of the big props and animatronics are no longer working. It's probably my favorite ride in the park, but I'd rather see it looking nice than how it looks now.
  22. They told the GR crew this morning that it's closed immediately.
  23. Hey gang! The mystery's been solved! Scooby will closed for the rest of the season!
  24. When I pressed Dave Roemer on this, he said that he thought that Scooby "was still a workable ride" in its current state. With him also saying that the next renovation would see the boats leaving, it doesn't make sense for them to keep rehabbing the boats if it's gonna close soon. After operating at half capacity last year and receiving a lot of boat fixes over the off season, it doesn't make too much financial sense. They've even been continuing rehabs this month.
  25. With two of the biggest rides, Goliath and Zumanjaro, opening late this year. Besides a couple parks, the final 2015 decisions are being made later than normal this year. As of the last week in June, the Dave Roemer didn't even exactly know what they were getting. My guess is that with corporate video conferences all week this week, 2015 plans may become more solid.
