  1. While it was very busy yesterday the park gave my nephew a good first impression. He had only been to SFDK before yesterday. He liked the layout and appearance of the park and said the fried chicken at M@ggie browns was some of the best he has had. He was very impressed with flight deck and he though grizzly looked like a waste of time.
  2. ^firefall, endeavor and delirium are the ones I saw running during that time.
  3. ^The park seemed to clear out right after everything went down.
  4. I just got home from a good day at the park. Took my nephew for his first time there. Boy was it packed, we decided to get fast lane so that we wouldn't be waiting in line all day (normally wouldnt do that but it was crazy busy).I gotta say it was nice to finally see gold striker in person, but ill have to wait till next time to ride. They had a deal that is good until the 27th, a regular season pass is the same price as a single day, had to do that. Just a few quick things from today. Operations on a few of the rides were slow, probably just new employees still getting the hang of things. Was stuck on the lift hill of flight deck for about 10 minutes. Flight deck was as forcefull as ever, got a few grey outs on my few rides. Went on Tiki twirl for the first time, enjoyed it even with the uncomfortable restraints. Got completely soaked on the rapids, don't remember ever getting as wet as I did today. Looking forward to gold striker opening. I bugged a few of the ride ops around the park about gold striker and I kept hearing the 29th, but we will see about that.
  5. ^ superman at sfdk only hits about 60mph and it is 150 ft tall. 70 should get it through the loop, might be a little hang time but it should make it no problem.
  6. I'm curious to see how attendance picks up after GS opens. I remember in the late 90s before rides were removed the park was always busy. Then again most of the GP seem to think GS is just another grizzly.
  7. Kinda hope that cga puts something there. Wouldn't really care if Barney oldfields was removed to help with putting in a nice coaster with lots of airtime and overbanks.
  8. Loggers run won't be going anywhere. The could actually work around it if they wanted to put a coaster there. Oh that too! But I was referring to the Morgan Hyper Coaster that was featured in one of the other forums. Check it out: http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1096556 That looks like it would have been a great addition to the park.
  9. ^yez, we were rumored to get hypersonic xlc. Not quite 200 feet but would have been taller that anything else that we have.
  10. There is plenty of room to build. Even with the height restriction there are ways around it. Didn't they put some sort of flashing light on top of drop tower so the pilots know there is something there so they could build it that tall.
  11. As long as I can remember cga has had problems with line jumpers. When I was a kid I remember my dad yelling at people all the time while in line for demon or vortex.
  12. Definitely overkill. The belt on the lapbar is redundant.
  13. Sounds like I need to look for someone to watch my kids for me. Dont want to miss out in this round.
  14. I hope that wall is going to be another tunnel.
  15. Reading all the reports on it makes me wish my summer trip there was closer.
  16. I'm looking forward to hearing how the ride is. Too bad I couldn't have made it these few days to see for myself.
  17. Nice pictures. The view of gold striker from star tower is awesome.
  18. Cga posted a question on its Facebook asking what Demon was originally called a few of the people had the same response. "Willard's Whizzer"
  19. I would be all over this if I had someone to watch my kids. Live north of sacramento so it's a bit of a drive to get there.
  20. Doesn't matter what day it is to me. As long as I can afford to go and have someone to watch my kids I would attend a bash. Plus I don't work a typical 9-5 job, I work at a casino so I'm always working weekends.
  21. Perish the thought! Aside from my obvious bias (Demon is one of my all time favorites and I have a soft spot for almost anything Arrow), I think Vortex would be removed long before Demon, despite Demon being older. . Can't disagree with that one bit. I personally love Demon, was my first coaster with inversions.
  22. Many amusement parks have a new GCI coaster and an older, inferior wooden coaster such as Worlds of Fun, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Valleyfair!, Hersheypark, etc. Grizzly is a very popular ride at CGA and while Gold Striker might decrease Grizzly's popularity a bit, I doubt Grizzly is going anywhere. Plus, Grizzly just got so much re-track. For the park's height limit, it is 230ish feet because of the nearby San Jose International Airport. Yeah I just would like to see it gone and its space put to better use. I still think it will be the first thing to go if there were to be something big done towards the back of the park.
  23. I really think that grizzly's days are numbered once Gold Striker opens. I expect there to be a sharp decline in riders on Grizzly. So I guess my only question would be what would replace it, some RMC work or a new steel coaster? And does anybody know what the height limit is for the park?
  24. Honestly I think they may be closing the bottom up still. Wouldn't be too hard to do.
