  1. Part of me thinks the "blueprint" was a plan by KI and was purposely put out, so when they announce the ride it will be a surprise to everyone. They could say they fooled everyone if that were the case.
  2. If it's open tomorrow could you possibly go on the Observation Tower and take pics or at least report back to see if anything is going on in the Deja Vu area (or any other area for that matter). I say Deja Vu area because thats the biggest piece of land open right now (besides the parking lot).
  3. I'd love to see a Eurofighter where Deja Vu was. Even though I'd like one like the Smiler I think due to budget and wanting to target toward younger riders a ride like Dare Devil Dive would fit there perfectly. This is what I think the 2014 attraction will be along with maybe a giant Frisbe by Full Throttle (maybe where Flashback was as Burkhart was quoted saying something would go there). With the rumor of Jet Stream possibly on its way out (I'd assume 2015 as it'd be closed by now for anything in 2014) I could see a wing rider like X-Flight in its place in 2015/16. If they remove Tidal Wave I could see them using that space plus the space from Freefall to add a water ride like Shoot the Rapids or an aquatrax. Of course the biggest buzz is Iron Colossus. If they were to do that for 2014 I believe it would be closed by now, so I can see this being a 2015/16 attraction. For the Giga I'm still rooting for them to remove Viper. I brought this up before and someone said oh they still have parts etc. Viper almost always has a 5 or less minute wait and with that land they could easily put an AMAZING giga there. I dont think anyone would complain replacing Viper with a world class giga. I could see this happening in like 2016/17.
  4. I haven't heard anything, but I would be SHOCKED if they didn't close all Gerstlaur rides down to investigate. Heck I'd be shocked if ALL theme parks didn't shut all Gerstlaur rides down for the time being. I believe when the Perilous Plunge accident happened at Knott's most parks were investigating their Intamin attractions. I also wonder if this causes a delay in ride announcements for 2014 (given a Six Flags park or two went with a Euro Fighter).
  5. Outlaw Runs trains are different and made by RMC as opposed to Gerstlauer who makes Iron Rattlers and NTG trains. I agree Iron Rattler and NTG should be closed until they determine the cause (prob a majority of the season).
  6. I dont see this hurting RMC as they didnt make the train for the ride. IF the restraint indeed popped up I see Geruslauer being the ones looked at. At minimum I could see seatbelts and seatbelts attached to the restraints (like on FOF), or I could see RMC putting their trains on this and Iron Rattler. Of course this is if the restraint indeed popped open like stated from the rider that was on.
  7. This is a sad day in the coaster world! We went out to ride TNTG in 2011 and I remember one of us said it'd be pretty easy for a kid to slip out of the restraints. I dont know the age of the victim, but sadly I wouldnt be surprised if it was a younger kid (it's sad regardless). I'm 6'3 over 200LBS (was in 2011 too) and sitting in the back (I stapled my self in too) I felt I could have fallen out on the first drop especially if I wasnt stapled (I know this is part of the effect, but if you're not stapled in and tiny it's obviously possible). I can see the trains from Outlaw Run being added to this and Iron Rattler, or it could have simply been a ride operators fault for not pushing down on the restraint enough.
  8. I got the same options for three different Six Flags parks (I wanted to see what the other parks were thinking of doing as previous surveys were different for each park). I dont think its targeted toward Magic Mountain per say, but rather the Six Flags chain.
  9. I dont have the numbers to show its working or not (are the crowds more, making more money ETC), but hypethitically if this is working for them all I am saying is they have plenty of family attractions to take a break for a year on adding yet another family attraction (all while families would still come cause they currently have a lot). I agree and you're right on the pricing of Disney vs Knotts, but I'd think a group of adult friends go more often than familes per year (as I said I know per visit familes spend more as far as a business standpoint). I'm not here saying add the biggest giga or what not, heck even if in 2014 they do the dark ride and Calico at least in 2015 I think its MORE than fair to ask for a decent coaster. At that time it'll be 11 years since a big coaster was added and if 2014 they do add the dark/re do Calico ride that makes their last 6 additions family attractions (8 if you count the refurb to Log Ride and Calico). I dont think its a dumb move (nor do I think its asking for much at all) if 1/9 latest attractions is a decent coaster (Euro Fighter, Wing Rider heck even a ride like Helix would look very good at the park maybe a decent flat too.) Also if they keep Jaguar that's 5 family coasters (plus Camp Snoopy/Boardwalk kid flats and the rumored dark ride) and 6 coasters (if they add one) which puts them at a 45% ratio of family coasters which is more than generous for a thrill park.
  10. How I look at the park, it is a thrill park. I'm not complaining that they added Coast Rider this year in fact the area IMO is VERY nice, BUT what I'm getting at is why continue adding family rides ALL the time? The last five additions (3 in the new boardwalk, Pony Express and Sierra Sidewinder) were all family (six if you count the refuirbishment of the log ride). Also Disneyland is up the st and regardless familes will go there over Knotts no matter how well of a job Knotts trys to add dark rides ETC. Knotts should add a coaster next (I'm not saying giga, but something like a Euro fighter or even a wing rider) before they add yet another family ride. Add the coaster, than do the dark ride/refurb on Calico. The issue is they may get some more familes to check it out (I get it family equals more money per visit BUT they're more likely to go less) but they're losing the adult crowd if they dont start balancing it out. The last big coaster was 9 years ago (Silver Bullet) I think it's fair to say its time for a decent coaster.
  11. Thats my whole point. Almost half of their rides are family coasters. Im saying why not remove the least popular/least fun one (Jaguar) and add a better ride? For family they have Timberline Twister, Coast Rider, Pony Express and Sierra Sidewinder and not to mention Montezzomas is a pretty good ride for a starter (going from kiddie to bigger coasters). I dont think its enough room for a giga (nor did I say they should add one), but I think its enough room for maybe a Wing Rider or as others said a Euro Fighter. Even if they did that they'd still have 4 family coasters and 6 bigger coasters (5 if you count Montezomas in the middle). That's still a 40% ratio of family coasters which is still VERY generous (right now they're at 50%).
  12. They could put a ride in its place that can eat up just as many people. If the ride isn't popular (or if they could replace it with something that would be more popular) I don't think having spare parts would stop them from replacing it. I'm not in anyway saying Viper is going, but its just an idea and as I said next 5 years not right away.
  13. I'm assuming nothing new in 2014 due to the Boardwalk this year. Any guesses or ideas on what will come next to the park (I'd guess 2015)? I still want to know why there were markings all around the park about two years ago. I know theres issues with land, but I was thinking. All their family rides are pretty new (heck even fun) but one that's not so fun (in fact quite boring) is Jaguar. Now Jaguar has been there for 18 years (will be 20 in 2015) and takes up a decent amount of room. I could see the park using that room and adding something (I don't think its enough room for a giga/hyper per say) but I think something a lot better could replace it. Any thoughts, ideas or anything new being said?
  14. . I was wondering what their 2014 addition would be. An Iron Horse to Colossus would be AMAZING. If they announce in the next month Colossus will be closing I think thats the safe bet (They announced in early July that Rattler would be closing at the end of Aug). I would also be happy to see maybe a Dare Devil Dive type of ride where Deja Vu sat (I'd be happy with a Smiler type, but I think Dare Devil would be more geared toward the younger rider which they might want). I think a couple flats in the next couple years would be great (maybe a Giant Frisbee where Flashback was or in the FT area) I'd love to see them get new trains and the magnetic brakes on Revolution like they did with Sooper Dooper Looper. Its silly that FT is lap bar only when you go upside down 2-3 times (3 if you're in the back) but Revolution with one small loop has TWO restraints. I can also see in the next 5 years them removing Viper and possibly putting a ride similar to I305 there. Viper in 5 years will be 28 years old and all the other parks removed theirs. I also heard rumors that they were thinking of removing Jet Stream. I think a Wing Rider would fit in nice there along with being around their other B&M counterparts (Riddlers and Batman) if said rumor is true. Another thing to keep in mind. Six Flags has a ride rotator program. Theres always a chance they remove something to give to another park. It'll be interesting to see what the next ride to leave would be. None the less the last two years Six Flags has announced their following year plans at the end of August so it'll just be two months away to finding out (along with Cedar Fair parks as well). I think there is a LOT of potential for Magic Mountain.
  15. AJ that is the fun of the ride. As I said on my report (couple pages back) we rolled back and only went a 3rd of the way through the loop (we felt we went half way, so that tells you how big it actually is). Going all the way through and barley making it provides an experience I have never felt before on any coaster. Sitting in the back hanging on that second inversion (after doing the backwards launch) was also incredible! There is decent hangtime over the top hat and its better in the back than the front (not just for the tophat but overall). I was along the majority when they announced this I was not happy and thought they could have done way more. After riding it I regret having those negative feelings and very happy they put this at one of my home parks!
  16. Just got back from the midnight event for Full Throttle. Let me start out by saying that was one of the funnest rides I have ever been on. Funny thing happened. We were next to ride and a roll back happened. Took about 10 mins to test and everything was good. We get on and we rolled back. Our first ride was in the second to back (very back was closed according to their head tech there was a restraint issue) and when we rolled back I thought we just barley missed it. When we came back to the station we were told we only went up about a 3rd which at that point the nerves started kicking in meaning there was a lot more of that GIANT loop. Finally we get on and what an awesome ride! Watching the launch it doesn't look fast but when your on it packs a nice punch and the hang time in that loop is INCREDIBLE (someone said before it feels like forever even though its a second that is a GREAT way of explaining it). Now I don't know if its not set up, but when you get in the tunnel theres a red light flashing outside and nothing going on inside. The backwards launch is nice and being in the back you are hanging through that inversion for a good 1.5 seconds then its full speed ahead up the top hat (pretty good airtime) and drop to the VERY SMOOTH brakes. Everyone there seemed to like it. Our final (second) ride was in the very front. Its good in the front but hands down the back is the best seat on the ride no doubt. I heard rumblings that the station may receive a cover, or they may take down what they have and get a new structure for a tent like roof (like the entrance). There are temporary switchbacks under the huge entrance "tent" but I don't see how that plus the ramp to the station will be remotely enough for the big summer crowds. Hopefully they have a plan. The loop seen from the ticket booth The line to get in. They said they only sold about 200 tickets. I'd say there were about 300 people total there (the sold tickets plus the people that won from Kroq) The dance stage to the left of the entrance The rides entrance. This was awesome. Fog coming up from the ground in the new Full Throttle plaza Another shot of the entrance. Notice the temporary queue line. I wonder why they dont put in a permanent one? Inside the actual queue/tent. Once your done with that queue/tent you walk up a little bit more (while walking right under the launch) and make a right up the ramp to the station Words cant even describe how big the loop truly is! Some chairs and umbrellas added between the stage and FT entrance We went with the wings. I got the parmesan garlic and they were VERY good!
  17. I will be going to the midnight event tonight (cant wait). I will try to also provide pics of the whole area and the event. All the reviews I read seem very positive and I will also provide a review tonight or tomorrow morning if I'm too tired once I get home.
