  1. Hey, glad you had a good day at the park. Monte has been having cable problems since the day after WCB, I think my shift lead said it'll be down a few more weeks. I'll keep you guys updated when I learn more. Hey, question for ya... want to take my daughter to knotts (she couldn't come with me during WCB) I know its scary farm time, but... how bad is it going to be on saturdays (before it shifts into the haunt time).... or should I just wait til november... The slowest days are during the day before haunt. They're open till about 5 and re-open at 7 for Haunt. It is (even on a Saturday) DEAD as everyone is waiting to go to Haunt.
  2. AHHHHH I LOVE this page! What I have been preaching. TEN YEARS for ANY "thrill park" is too long to go between adding a major thrill ride. Yes it's a thrill park as they still have thrill rides, if they don't want to be labeled as a thrill park transfer all the thrill rides to the other CF parks. I am NOT ripping on what they have done with all the family additions, BUT not a SINGLE thrill attraction in a decade is a little too long. I am not saying every year they need one, BUT every couple years would be nice. I'd be happy with a giga, BUT I will say I think a Euro Fighter or a ride like Maverick would fit the park better. I agree what they have done looks VERY good, but it WONT hurt them for just one year to add a thrill. 2013 they had the boardwalk, 2014 add the thrill ride, 2015 AND 2016 add more family attractions just BALANCE it out at least a little bit.
  3. As has been mentioned in here numerous times...that building no longer exists as it was for KoD. It was gutted to make more for Johnny Rockets ventilation/HVAC systems. I thought they only used some of the building not all of it, so if they indeed used the entire building than never mind.
  4. I said this a couple months back on this form (before the rumor of them removing Windseeker) and with the exact same reason with the height requirement plus all their other family rides are way more fun. They remove Jaguar, possibly relocate the merry go round and the Mexican food place to the right of the merry go round and you have room for a top of the line thrill ride. If they get a dark ride they already have a building for that (Kingdom of the Dinosaur). If they want something like a small Euro or El Loco I think just removing Windseeker, using the path and some of the water is enough room, but anything bigger they remove Jaguar as well thats a lot of room to work with.
  5. Ok so I guess now comes the guessing game of what will replace Windseeker. My guess and keep in mind you have that room, they can use the pathway to the right of it, some of the water and if really need be could move the merry go round. I'm going to guess not a flat ride but either a small Eurofighter or an el loco. They would have time to open it next year.
  6. We all saw Six Flags announce their 2014 attractions this morning. With that being said which attraction(s) are you most looking forward to and how do you feel about the overall announcements? For me I am looking forward to Goliath. For how compact of an area that is I think they really made the best of it and I am seriously debating going out to SFGAM next season to go on that (I also want to go on X-Flight as I haven't been on a Wing Rider yet). I already have Lex Luthor, so that will be pretty close to Zumanjaro (which looks awesome too BTW) For the overall, and from my perspective I cant shy away from this fact. Six Flags claims to be the best/largest thrill park chain in the world *saying "world" in Jim Andersons voice* and I know they're gearing more toward families this season, but I think it was a big miss that they only added ONE thrill coaster in the states (and of course Medusa in Mexico). Both are from the same company and there was no wing rider, premier launched or Eurofighter at any of their other parks. I hope this is just so they have a HUGE budget in 2015, but I think this year OVERALL was pretty lackluster. My home park is SFMM and I wasn't expecting anything there, BUT I was expecting more throughout the chain to be honest.
  7. ^Thats true Knotts makes their announcements later on in the year.
  8. I noticed Knotts is very quiet for 2014 while Six Flags has made announcements and Cedar Fair parks started to and some more parks are about to (Canada's Wonderland is tomorrow) but nothing from Knotts. I cant help but think about those brown supports on the freeway I saw and posted pics of. They're obviously not for Six Flags, but I remember hearing rumblings/rumors of a do over on Ghostrider. Those brown supports (if indeed they were for a coaster) would go perfectly with Ghostrider if they were to do a RMC hybrid conversion. I know Knotts is going toward the family direction, BUT its still also a thrill park and 2014 will be TEN years since a big coaster was added (Silver Bullet). Hopefully they do something big soon! 2014 would be a great year to do it. Nothing big for Magic Mtn, Disney and Universal is getting the Despicable Me attraction, so 2014 would be a year to capitalize and take advantage of that situation. If Knotts does something big in 2014 that could still draw the families AND thrill seekers. 2015 would be hard for them to draw as I'm sure Magic Mountain will get something big (if Knotts does a hybrid to Ghostrider MM probably wouldnt do an Iron Colossus but something else) and I believe Disney has something for 2015? 2016 would be even harder as I believe Disney is doing the Marvel area, Universal will open Harry Potter and I'm sure Magic Mtn. would get something new again.
  9. Do they have enough trains to run Colossus backwards as it looks like it's both sides? They used Psyclones old trains and if I recall they only have 2-3 meaning at most 1 side would have 1 train and the other would have 2 unless they only run one side, or they just run it with the regular Colossus trains (but I think they need the headrests). When we went to the park last Sunday I remember all of us were saying how intense Batman was, so that should be crazy running backwards! ^I do agree with the above statement I think this is a way of the park pleasing people by giving them a full season of Colossus backwards before they transform it to Iron Colossus for 2015 if thats what indeed they decide to do. Did anyone else find it odd that Six Flags only announced three NEW roller coasters (I know other attractions, but I'm talking coaster wise) and 2/3 were RMC wood/hybrid and the other a kiddie coaster for SFMM? No wing coaster, no premier launched, no Euro Fighter for any of their parks? This is in no way a rip on those two as they look AMAZING, but I just found it odd that there are only 3 new coasters and 2/3 are wood/hybrid from the same company. 2014 seems like a pretty quiet year for not just Six Flags but other parks as well compared to previous years.
  10. Given no visible signs of construction for a new ride (besides the fence to the left of Full Throttle Wings, but nothing was torn down there yet), anyone think this could be the year they finally announce a restoration to Revolution? The new trains/brakes like they have on Sooperdooperooper at Hershey?
  11. ^ Ahhhhh gotcha. The last time I was there was the midnight ride for Full Throttle.
  12. Went to the park yesterday. X2 was closed all day and the train was on the lift hill. Of course Apocalypse was closed as well. Even though the parking lot was filled to the dirt lot half of the second lot was closed due to the building of some sort of ramp. Without that I'd say it'd probably take about 2 full parking lots and 2/3 of the 3rd lot. I think the park seemed busier because people were scattered due to X2 being closed, but we were there from 11-745 and managed the following in order Goliath (15 min wait back row), Drop of Doom (25 min wait), walked to Scream and they only had 1 train line was down the stairs which isn't worth it IMO so we skipped that, Batman (15 min wait row 7). Went to lunch around 2, came back around 4 and went on Full Throttle (45 min wait back row), Superman (20 min wait with BOTH sides open front row!), Ninja (5 min wait for the front) and finally Riddlers (5 min wait back row). For how busy it was and the fact X2 and Apocalypse were closed it wasn't too bad of a day and every ride the operators really seemed on top of their game with quick dispatches. I thought it'd be slower as kids are back in school or in Orange County going back today, but apparently I was wrong with that assumption. After the Labor Day wkknd it should slow down quite a bit by the middle of Sept hopefully! One thing I noticed there is a fence across from Full Throttle (directly to the left of the new Full Throttle Wings) and fully blocks you from walking by the old Monorail station, Flashback area and those bathrooms. That wasn't there the night Full Throttle opened. Tim Burkhart was quoted saying something would go in Flashbacks old spot and that is quite a bit of room for either the park (probably enough for a Huss Frisbee or even a small Euro Fighter) or even for Hurricane Harbor. I wouldn't be surprised to see the 2014 attraction (If it isnt Iron Colossus) go there.
  13. My theory is that if they wanted to keep Boomerang at Knott's, they would have added new trains (like Carolina Cobra) in the downtime that it was painted. I feel like that was a missed opportunity to enhance a permanent coaster, unless it was to be relocated, which a paint job would make sense IMO and new trains added once moved. Also, they had the chance to replace Sky Cabin with Windseeker, but chose a different spot. I believe something big could change for that area of the Boardwalk. But who knows? I'm definitely reading into it too much! Thats a great point. If they wanted it for a while why not get a new train? Flip side of course is cost, but yah if they removed Boomerang, Sky Cabin, that shop, Wipeout and sky cabin you have a lot of room (even more room without that restaurant) plus footers could go on the middle of the Boardwalk where people walk. Remember there were markings there like 2 years ago so it could start making sense soon.....
  14. I couldn't agree more! 10 years since a thrilling ride has been added. Yes I know they're appealing to families but their past 6 rides have been family attractions. I don't think its much to ask for that their next attraction being something to appeal to the thrill seekers. I like your idea, but I dont think Boomerang is going anywhere anytime soon due to its brand new paint job (I'd guess that means they keep it for at least another 2-3 years) unless they painted it for another one of their parks.....
  15. They deff are not headed toward Utah. Utah he would have been going E on the 91 and taken the 15 N. He was headed W on the 91 which is toward Six Flags, Knotts and Adventure City.
  16. I totally agree. Even if they were a different color I still thought they looked like them. We shall see.
  17. I was on my way home from Vegas today and getting on the 91W from the 15S about 7 minutes on I noticed these brown supports (Corona area heading West which is toward Knotts and both Six Flags parks). For those not from CA the distance is about 25 mins to Knotts, 80 mins to Magic Mtn and about 7 hours to SFDK. I realize these could be for anything, BUT I cant think of anything other than a coaster where you would use brown as a primary color for a support. If by all means you know what these are please let me know.

  20. I dont see that station costing anymore than any other station (I think that, the fog around and some tombstones will be the theming). I think the price is the cost of the ride itself and any additional theming, demolition is an additional amount, but if 24M includes the theming all other parks would be the same way I'm sure.
  21. I dont see the demolition of SOB being more than 2 million (I think probably closer to 1 million). I believe they blew it up? So cost of explosives, workers and the cleaning equipment. Even at 2 million that means the ride still cost 22 million.
  22. In no way is this a complaint and I'm not going to talk about the actual ride till it opens besides saying from the videos for an invert it looks pretty good. Ok so everyone was saying don't build a wing rider there is one 3 hours away at CP. CP also has an invert thats only 334 ft shorter (Banshees final brake run seems a lot longer so ride wise even less of a difference). At 24M dollars (their highest spending on a single ride) I don't see why they didn't try something completely different thats not out in the states. For almost the same they could have put something like the Smiler in its place, or a Mack launch like Blue Fire or even Helix. I know he said B&M is reliable (which they are) but for that hefty price tag and having an invert at a sister park 3 hours away I think building something different would have been better. I know there are support issues with Smiler, but its a first of its kind and the second time around I'm sure they would have fixed that. I know not everyone would agree (I know some will) but I'm going to CP in 2014 (I'm from CA). Depending on what KI was announcing I was debating driving out 3 hours (I've already done so in 2010). To me it's not worth a 3 hour drive to go on another invert (especially considering Raptor is one of the better ones). If it were something that CP didn't have (or something CA didn't have) I would have made the 3 hour trip and I think a lot of people will have the same mentality even if Banshee ends up being a better invert which it very well may be. I LOVE the theming but they could have done that with any ride.
  23. How embarrassing that's my home park too (SFMM) . I guess it's possible plus I don't think Cedar Fair has anything big going on at any of their other parks for 2014 (besides the rumored dark ride at CP) so they could put some heavy money to KI. We shall see.
  24. I know this is HIGHLY unlikely, BUT has a theme park ever announced TWO new coasters? This area could fit an invert and wing rider very well and maybe their record breaker is two new coasters in one year? It seems to almost be 50/50 as to it being an invert or a wing rider.
  25. That's what I'm leaning toward. Even if it is an invert it may be a different layout as I'm sure when a park asks for a ride they present multiple different designs.
