Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
Brassinthegrass replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hi Everyone, I am going to the park next tuesday, and just downloaded the app. I saw that SkyRush is closed.. anyone near the park and know whats up? Anyone go this weekend, was it running? Edit: never mind, it's open again... Phew, worried I would have missed out on that one! -
I can agree to your thoughts.. I would love to see something near chiller, or even a wooden coaster that rsn across the side of the parking lot near the water tower... I could also see them building out by the old safari entrance, that way the drop tower wasn't such a trek for just one ride... It could be built up without the removal of trees....

Is it possible there is an over population due to a lack of predictors in the area? Granted, too many turtles is a wonderful problem to have, it is really cool to watch them and look out at the lake for a little bit, since the rest of the park is so action packed, it's nice to see some nature for a little bit...

I disagree... I think we could see a wooden roller coaster with inversions will hold its ground to el toro... As long as they are not right next to each other, I think it could work... El toro is a Positive and Negative G ride... Full of extremes from both ends, if this new RMC ride was more about large inversions we could see it fit nicely into the park. In regards to a tunnel... I'm not going to rule it out, yet. I do think it won't be in, near, or through the lake, but we could see the trench type tunnel that Goliath has.. As for location, I would hope it would go back by nitro/raging river... Unfortunate, I still believe the park needs to replace RT with some sort of medium sized woodie, as a transition ride for kids to grow up from kiddie rides... Who knows, maybe we will see to roller coasters built in one year, and it could be a "wooden year" at SFGAdv

When it comes to Bizzaro, I can not help you there... I'd say the hotter it is, the better it runs... But it has been running great this season! I usually run for Batman, it's usually up and running within ten minutes of opening, then go for Bizzaro, by then the line calms down from the Bizzaro morning rush... I then hit the Gotham and Cat whip rides for coaster credits and head to thunder bolt, take a ride on the sky ride to Cyclone and then déjà Vu... I mean Goliath...

Where Are You Planning To Go In 2014?
Brassinthegrass replied to azza29's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Last weekend we went to Six Flags New England and Lake Compounce. June 10-11 my cousin and I will be going to Knobles, Hershey and Dorney Park with an almost guaranteed visit to Coney Island on the way home. I'm sure a six flags great adventure trip might happen later in the summer -
Well did we have a great day today! After a terrible night of CRAZY rain, we woke up to clear blue skies and the yearning for thrills! Drove from Long Island hitting absolutely NO traffic. Showed up to Six Flags New England at 9:45, walked into the park and sat down on a bench waiting for the ropes to drop. Watching for a test run of Goliath. Unfortunately, we saw Goliath had maintenance men working above the track in the station, so before the rope dropped, we walked to the other side and went for Batman. Showed up and they were just finishing their morning tests. Walked on for one ride in the front and one in the back. Standard rides, nothing to report other than some wholesome fun! We then walked over to Bizzaro and got two rides in there, again front and back (notice a pattern happening? Good.). It's running great, the music sounded amazing on our first ride, but the second it was completely dead. Also, the flame throwers are gone, just two towers with nothing on top. We then walked over to Thunderbolt. It was still not open, but the ride operator said they had about ten more minutes left in their morning routine, so we went for some French fries and returned. This thing is running great so far this year, and the recent paint job makes it stand out nicely. We walked over to Sky Screamer not planning on getting a ride, because we thought the line would be insane. Luckily the line was quite short, and we got right on after two rotations. It's a great ride, the thrill of being that high up in nothing but a chain connect seat is, well, terrifying if you start to think about it while your up there... Which, is basically impossible Cyclone was running its trains, but never opened while we were in the park. I wanted to get on it one more time before it (possibly/hopefully) gets some RMC love. Oh well! We walked over to Déjà Vu (I mean Goliath) and got a station wait. I must admit, this is one of the most terrifying rides to wait for and I have been on countless roller coasters. Something between the enormous size of it from the front of the park, this loudness of the track as the train goes by, and the screams of the people on those towers just makes the anticipation amazing. We lucked out with the front row seat, which had screams and thrills to boot! Great ride! We did not feel any rattle or shaking on the forward trip, but on the return, the loop and second half of the cobra roll gave quite a shake... At this point, we tried to go ride bizarro one more time. Unfortunately, there was a line out of the first switch back, and it was down. We walked back over to Goliath, bought a large bag of kettle corn and left for the day. Right after we took the standard picture everyone has to take... We drove the hour to Lake Compounce, and arrived to find the most wonderful thing happening in the park today! A local foster care program was running a day where people could come and bring foster children to play in the park for an entire day. To see that many little kids having such a great time was a beautiful site. We sat down and had pulled pork for lunch, and then got online for Boulder Dash. They were only running one train, but the ride operators were making it a great time while you waited in the station. I must admit, this is one of the most fun rides I have ever been on! I giggled like a little schoolgirl the entire ride out, and on the return those arms were up in the air having the time of our life. We lucked out with a front row seat on our first ride! We walked over and rode the Wildcat, which was quite smooth except for the first turnaround. The turnaround near the station has completely been rebuildt and was quite smooth. We then got funnel cake, and walked to the sky ride. Had a wonderful time on our 20 minute journey, watching waterfalls and rivers, and laughing at kids on the other side who were afraid of the height. Also, it was quite entertaining to ask the ride operator at the top any question we wanted. He was quite entertaining and clearly loved his job; something that is always nice to see. The view was magnificent!! We then rode the trolley back to the main section of the park, and went for a ride on Lightning and Thunder. Standard S&S ride, quite entertaining and fun to see kids ride their first big flat ride. We then walked back to Boulder Dash, And got one more ride in there on the back row. What a great way to end our roller coasting for one day! After that, we walked back to the front of the park had a glass of soda (of course) and hit the road. We stopped in New Haven CT at Delaney's Restaurant & Tap Room for a Berger and a beer. Highly recommend it for anyone traveling back towards NYC. Overall a great day, with great fun! Now, back to reality until June 10 for my Knobles, Hersheypark, Dorney Park trip!! Summery Batman x2 Bizzaro x2 Thunderbolt x1 Goliath x1 Boulder Dash X2 Wildcat x1

Is it wrong of me to say that this ride looks stunning and yet, simple enough, to possibly become a cookie-cutter coaster for other Six Flags parks? It's interesting to think that X-flight also had the same sense to it... Of course, I find it hard to believe that Rocky Mountain coasters is the type of company that would do cookie-cutter rides

I'll be there next Saturday! let us know how tomorrow goes, the iffy weather will definitely benefit your experience! Enjoy those (hopefully) shorter lines! -
You should be good to go as long as it is not Memorial Day weekend (May 23-26). In reguarss to lines, there not usually bad during the week in May and early June. Last year on a Friday (I believe it was this week last year) we rode everything on the east side of the park except KK (GL, S:UF, ET, RT (both sides), Biz, Mine Train) before lunch. I highly suggest I you go to the Best of the West for lunch. It's a great sit down restaurant with Old School Souther BBQ. It can be found right across from the entrance to the mine train (over the bridge). After than, you can take the sky ride over the park (while you digest) to Nitro and the Batmans... Then ride the sky ride back to do KK and any other rides you want to hit!

I agree... We expect perfection from teams that have not done this in either months, or ever for the new members! It's just not fair... If this convo was going on in august, I would agree that the teams need to get there act together, but we are not, please give them a chance. In regards to bringing their entire lives onto the ride, I may have to find a but of the blame on Disney, as almost all of their rides have a location to keep personal belongings... Unfortunately, the ride styles and levels of intensity are drastically different, the GP doesn't see it that way!
