  1. Know what I just thought would be awesome? What if they had the worlds tallest loop from Full Throttle wrap around the guest path directly above the metro tunnel? You would have the ride go through the tunnel, go up and around the loop, end the loop going back into the tunnel and on the other side of the hill. This way you could have people standing on the path watching upside down trains zoom by overhead!
  2. I think the train actually crests the airtime hills faster than most B&M hypers, but I could be wrong. It will also be sad to see how much slower it goes over the hills once those trims are tapping the train. However, I like the low to the ground track transitions with the drawn out bump between the big hills, and that first overbank. It looks like its gonna be pushing some good positive and negative forces. But for its height, and the momentum the train has going into the final brakes, the ride is waaaay too short IMO.
  3. I think they should have just refunded everyone their $49 back. Not that hard to do.
  4. This is great news. From the sounds of it everything is going smoothly and there should be no snags, so this might actually be ready by their desired opening season. Hopefully they incorporate the same type of slides like Bombay Blasters that they had at the old location, move some land around and make it a big hill! So glad they're going to make an option other than Soak City and Raging Waters for us So Cal people to pick from.
  5. Haha, good catch! I guess what I think is funny is that these days it has become so simple to get a high quality new photo for a new promotional campaign for a new ride, and have it shopped like that in 15 minutes, but parks continue to use the same stock photos they've had for years.
  6. ^Wow, thanks for that link. I've never known that before and am now extremely jealous at some of the stuff he has. It's weird how he says the Superman statue "fell down" during a windstorm. That just doesn't seem practical considering the legs were constructed of steel I beam which were molded over, then bolted to the frame of the ride which you can see here.
  7. It looks as though there's the old Superman statue on the top of the tower in the new park map. Maybe we will see a return of the big thing when Lex Luther gets installed! I miss that thing.
  8. Overall, the ride seems a bit short for me. Missing that last "oomph" to get it past "it's already over?" standards.
  9. Ah! Keep the around the clock updates, I love it! Who knows? If the crane was 150'+ tall they wouldn't need that just to get a Goliath train off the tracks. Sounds like new ride progress to me, but we'll know for sure by Saturday.
  10. Nope. People in the reporting business should just stay the hell away from discussing theme parks. They literally have no clue what they're talking about a majority of the time, and that misinformation gets spread to the general public. Irresponsible news-reporting IMO.
  11. Maybe this means we'll finally have a looping coaster with lapbars! Here's hoping!
  12. I'm having my first case of "coaster bitterness" with this coaster. I loved having Deja Vu at Magic Mountain and I don't want any other park to have it!
  13. It's barely inferior when it comes to ride experience: hydraulic launches are much quicker.
  14. Considering the type of customization, my gut is hoping the park sees that this coaster will need to be made by Intamin. This park is one to hand it to the big boys when it comes to the big jobs, and they have the capital to do so. A hydraulic launch is the nirvana IMO, but if its gonna be long they will probably just go with magnets. One things for sure: they aren't clearing trees and grading land for fun.
  15. Wrong in so, so many ways. Epcot ring a bell? It's amazing that one douche gets in a video by causing a scene and suddenly there's a jump on the "there shouldn't be booze at Disney parks" bandwagon. Let's not ruin it for the people that can enjoy an ice cold alcoholic beverage responsibly at a theme park. The main park also doesn't serve sides of jelly. So the moral of the story must be...Jelly plus Disney is bad.
  16. ^^Already complaining?!?! I would be stoked for the park to get what has been mentioned, and we all should be too so hopefully they'll actually get it because it sounds awesome. Also keep in mind some mechanics know there are guests listening especially at a coaster event and might say a couple things at enough of a volume to turn ears... I thought the negative update was uncalled for considering the park doesn't even have to do an event, and they did anyway, and it sounds like it was fun. Then to not even go and still complain? *head smack keyboard* I like going to Magic Mountain, I have a pass and apparently a lot of other people do too for certain reasons and that's why we like visiting and talking about what's new. There's a lot of great things going on at the park and in store for the future from what I've heard, and even if it has it's flaws that's okay with me, it's fun to go with friends and ride the coasters for a day.
  17. ^I think you mean dependently. Needless to say I'm a big 6 Flags fan especially Magic Mountain - my favorite park. No way would either Intamin or 6 Flags (especially corporate) let this ride just be clamped on to the Superman tower. I wasn't at the M.M. portion of WCB, but I'm sure the statement was misunderstood about it's installation. As discussed previously, "clamping" Lex Luther to Superman means they don't have to drill into the existing structure's I-beam support. There's nothing unsafe about this method, I'm guessing the clamps they use will be something like the first picture (although a much bigger grade). You can see how the clamp tightens around the I-Beam (second picture), and they'll have dozens running vertically along the side of the tower. It won't really be supporting anything either, just keeping the Luther track from swaying (unless the Superman tower sways with it). Now as for the Superman tower, you've got nothing to worry about. It's only a 400 foot tall structure, and it's constructed strictly of steel I-beam, which is anchored by one of the biggest coaster footers I've ever seen. It will probably still be standing after the world ends.
