  1. Taken right from the park map. And if he didn't have a map, the signs around the fence should have been pretty clear. Thank you so much for posting this! For crying out loud, the park map has the answer LITERALLY printed right there. There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for stupidity! Fine print on a park map isn't exactly the best way to tell people how to retrieve their lost items. But seriously, I agree. He made a horribly ill-advised decision to ignore the signs in front of his face.
  2. Really?!??! You're BLAMING THE PARK!?!?!? What the hell is wrong with you?!?!?! You mean a fence and a GIANT METAL ROLLER COASTER SCREAMING BY YOU isn't instruction enough to figure out that you shouldn't be going to get a lost cell phone in a restricted area??? You know, they put up the fences and signs because of people like you. No. I said he's totally at fault. But there isn't much instruction on what to do if you lose an item on a ride. I'm not saying that to justify ignoring "RESTRICTED AREA" signs. I'm just saying they could have a little more information on what to do in that circumstance. I had to talk my brother out of a similar situation because he didn't know he could simply go and fill out a form to have it returned to him at a later time.
  3. Suspicion confirmed. He's totally at fault. But I still think the park needs to have better instruction on what to do if you lose something on a ride.
  4. Maybe I'm just a little more understanding than others. But I can have sympathy for him simply because I had to talk my brother out of a similar situation once when he lost & saw his phone. A lot of people probably would attempt the same thing if they saw a a valuable object of theirs sitting right out of reach. I think the man is 100% at fault for not following the rules and disregarding all of the signs, don't get me wrong. But the park should be a little better about notifying people what to do/where to go if they lose something on one of the rides. Now, this is all assuming he was going in to grab something of his, which I think is the most obvious situation. But you never know I suppose. I'll stop speculating and wait for more details.
  5. So sad. Why can't people simply follow the rules My heartfelt condolences to the individual's friends and family. I also hope the riders and witnesses are able to cope with what was more than likely a horrible sight. I hope the park can recover quickly from this incident.
  6. Do any other parks in the CF lineup have a free water park? If not, I still think MA is the best value park of them all.
  7. Random change of topic, but I can't believe how many people on social media complain about ticket prices. It's always "I WOULD GO IF IT WASN'T SO EXPENSIVE!!"
  8. One of the Facebook admins actually acknowledged that next year would be the 60th anniversary a month or so back. I didn't think anything of it then, but maybe that means they are actually planning something.
  9. Nobody ever really expects theming out of Cedar Point. Doesn't bother me much. Visuals don't do much for me on coasters anyway.
  10. Totally agree with connecting the paths on the other side of the lake. There has been a service road there for ages. Honestly I would rather see that happen than get a chintzy old flat ride next year. It would open up the park a little more and also create the perfect spot for future expansion. I think the perfect spot for a new roller coaster would be basically right in the land where the train is. Also, I agree on food cost as well. But it's just simple economics. The current prices aren't going to budge simply because the demand for food and drink in the park is so high. I always pack a cooler when I go to any amusement park period. There isn't a single one that doesn't have outrageous food prices. Side note: Still too much Thunderhawk hate
  11. Looks real to me. If it's allegedly only 223 feet, that's kind of disappointing in comparison to what I was hoping (250ish). But regardless, I'm still stoked to ride this beast next year.
  12. Thunderhawk gets too much hate from enthusiasts just because it is an SLC. I personally have never ridden another SLC, but I can say that the GP does in fact love the crap out of that ride, at least from what I've seen and heard. I don't think I've ever heard a complaint about it being too rough. It's surprisingly smooth and incredibly forceful. I'm somewhat new to this whole coaster enthusiast thing, so I was part of the GP not too long ago. To those that don't know any different and haven't been to a better park with better rides, Thunderhawk is pretty mindblowing. Pretty much all my my non-enthusiast friends prefer it over ST (I think they are insane, but they do).
  13. Urethane wheels slow the train down by producing more rolling resistance on the track. It would barely make it back. Oh, well you learn something every day I guess.
  14. Millennium really does have the most beautiful lift hill on this planet. Fantastic pictures.
  15. I don't think Wolverine Wildcat's existing structure is enough to make a halfway decent RMC lol
  16. As a sim-racer myself, I would not be completely disappointed with this
  17. That's really a shame because with better restraints (ala Banshee, Gatekeeper) the ride would've been really solid. I loved the layout of Mantis when I rode, just couldn't take the roughness and headbaning. I'm sure the new trains fixed the roughness but to no avail if it still smashes your head. It really didn't seem that bad to me at all. But then again I'm a metalhead so I'm used to headbanging
