  1. ^It's not nearly as noticeable. Probably not. But I wouldn't expect the scrutinizing to stop anytime soon.
  2. This is really unfortunate, and I was thinking of a way they could possibly make the loop portion of the ride safer after some of your guys ideas of nets came up. I was thinking the best thing to do would be to get a couple big sheets of plexiglass like they have at the hockey rinks, and make a frame and put them between the loops (yellow line, 1st picture below). This way, the object is clear, the obstruction of the net is gone, and there would be no "movement" if something were to fly into the net (for example when a puck hits the net it moves 1 foot into the net) as where the plexiglass would just stop any object in its path. Also keep in mind that the net or plexiglass does NOT need to go to the top of the loops, only about a 1/4 of the way up between both loops because as the trains go through the loop, the direction of any loose articles are not going to be thrown at the other vehicle once the trains start to ascend vertically, they will be thrown upward. So there only really needs to be something at the point where the trains are facing one another. Another thing with the hard plexiglass is you only have to support the sides and bottom, while the top can just be left alone without any ugly kind of support or obstruction (2nd drawing).
  3. ^I too fear that coming for Scream!, based on the fact that its built on the blacktop which makes for easy removal, which again for me is a bummer because I like the elements of the ride a lot. Just seems like a short term installation that they intended to have move eventually which is why the park never bothered spending money to put some grass under it. Perhaps Deja Vu is just the beginning of the company scaling down Magic Mountain, with rumors about Log Jammer as well, it's too bad if the park just couldn't sustain its past level of capacity. Deja Vu will be gone soon, I suspect by next weekend a lot of the track will be gone and only the towers and supports will be left.
  4. ^Wow, that's awesome! Never seen the official lines quite like that, thanks for sharing. Just to point out, it's amazing how the park has "convieniently" squeezed numerous rides on the boundry lines of the property.
  5. ^They are some of my favorite as well. However I do find myself avoiding them due to the whole water thing. Love the ride, I just don't wanna have to get soaked and have my shoes and socks or clothes being wet the rest of the day. Perhaps that is what a lot of the public is thinking in recent years as well. Especially with so many other "not get soaked and be miserable for the rest of the day" roller coasters. Moving to the future though; I am WAY excited to see Lex Luther come to fruition. Love the idea, love the theming concept. I will definitely sit my big butt in line for an hour or more to be on the tallest drop ride ever. I am interested to see how they go about putting it together and fitting the queue smack dab near the base of the Superman tower. And as far as the new backwards Superman, it is definitely a face lift for the ride and it has become one of my newest "must ride" coasters in the park. When you're going backwards so fast you, you just start to wait for curve to vertical for the G's to hit, then you're soon facing the ground. Sweeeeet.
  6. ^We will probably see Deja Vu dismantling progress by this weekend, Lex Luther has not been started yet as Superman was still running on Sunday but that will probably change soon. I would not be surprised to see the Log Jammer removed, lets not forget it opened with the park and is 40 years old. It was closed last week but I thought that was because its queue had a maze in it. Either way, those pumps cost a lot to run and maintain, the fiberglass flume is probably falling apart, and it's just too bad considering what a great ride it is and the history it has. But it is honestly one of the top 2 water rides in the park, Roaring Rapids is close but it's way short. The others are pretty pathetic. Jet Stream basically hasn't been floating on water for years, it just gets pushed by the current and rides on its boat wheels through the whole track. That thing is terrible, and I can probably see it being removed soon as well. Tidal Wave hasn't made a tidal wave in I can't remember how long. I'm not so much concerned with the ride being removed as I am the surrounding atmosphere which may be destroyed as a result of the attraction going away. That may not happen, but I kinda wonder why they couldn't just put a new flume in its place and wah-lah you have a brand new water flume ride that you can advertise like any roller coaster. I would gladly take an aquatrax or mega-lite in its place though.
  7. Every row?! No way could I do that. I rode it 2 weeks ago about 5 times in a row and there was no way I could take it anymore than that! My stomach was actually upset after riding which was the first time that has happened to me in a LONG time. I left after my rides cause they kept honking that freakin' loud as hell horn over and over it was getting annoying.
  8. Got 3 rides on Deja Vu lastnight, the last being my favorite seat in the very back. There's nothing quite like dropping face first on that first spike from the very back seat, it's literally 2-3 seconds of pure freefall like you've jumped off a 20 story building before the train turns into the station and the seat catches and yanks you forward. 2nd spike may not be as good because you're not as high, but going backwards in the backseat through the loop and cobra roll really provide some crazy feelings. Such a great ride, one of the best in the park, and one of the better extreme coaster experiences I've ever had. Yeah, its just a GIB but for what it does and the sensations it creates, its awesome. FYI the park was practically empty from 7pm on. My buddies and I went once the sun went down to get some night rides. No mazes for me or my group, they looked pretty pathetic, and we preferred to get on rides rather than wait in maze lines. The scare zones were okay on Samurai Summit and in DC Universe, but that's pretty much it. If you're gonna go to the park, go on a Sunday, those days have been nothing but fun and small crowds for me and my friends.
  9. Going to the park today to say my good-byes to Deja Vu. Just wanted to remind anyone else who might wanna do the same.
  10. Whether or not you have a hard time believing it, insulting guests is part of the atmosphere. Its been like this at many (albeit not all) of the Halloween events I've been to. I think we should all think of the possible circumstances of the story not being shared before we just take the word of some random poster. I have a feeling we are not getting the whole story here. That being said, people need to stop being so offended, and learn to take a joke. When simply calling a guy a "lesbian Justin Bieber" is deemed offensive to some of you, you are enforcing a negative connotation with homosexuals, are you not? If a homosexual slur was used, that would be a different story. But simply using the word homosexual or lesbian in and of itself should not be offensive to anyone. Um...calling someone a lesbian version of Justin Bieber is not a display bigotry. It does not show intolerance of the Gay and Lesbian community. Please stop throwing that word around if you have no idea how to use it.
  11. No competition. Go to Knott's or Universal Studios. Honestly the Fright Fest at Magic Mountain is sad, and despite all the hype and marketing they do to promote the Halloween event, it almost makes you wonder why they even make an attempt. Changing up some of the rides like Batman fog and Colossus backwards is cool, but the mazes and scare zones, meh.
  12. I can't believe the size of that spine for the lifthill, it is freaking huge. And has anyone else noticed the ridiculously large footer angled at the base of he lifthill? This is going to be a monster in many ways more than just height.
  13. Although I'm not on that bandwagon, I do have to admit it does look super long and super awkward.
  14. ^You will be fine at Magic Mountain, in fact I will be going on the 2nd as well! Last week on Sunday the longest waits were Green Lantern and X which were probably 1 hour. I got to the park at 3pm and got on Superman, Terminator, Riddlers, Batman, X2 and Tatsu before the park closed at 6. Terminator was running 2 trains (can you believe it?) and was walk on, Superman was 15 minutes and running both sides (make sure to sit in the 4-across front seat the line goes faster) and Tatsu was 15 minutes. The other rides were less than 15 minutes or walk on. I would suggest getting on X when the park opens, then heading over to Green Lantern after as the X line winded almost all the way to the entrance (no switchbacks) and the Green Lantern line was just in front of the rides station facade. Both lines move slow. Use that Discover Card and you will not have to wait in X, but may have to suck it up for about an Hour+ for Green Lantern (which is not worth the wait in my opinion but I know you want the credit). The Knott's event will be decent or better, it always is, and Weird Al is awesome. Lucky kid you got there!
  15. Those signs have been going up around Haunt time ever since I can remember. It hasn't been as bad in recent years, but I remember times were Beach Blvd was backed from the Knott's vehicle entrance down Beach Blvd ALL the way to the 91 freeway and sometimes to Orangethorpe. The 91 would even be backed up and would have TONS of traffic going both directions at Beach Blvd due to the large amounts of people going to the event. In preparation for similar traffic, I imagine they have the signs scattered around the city so people can get off at Valley View or Knott to take other routes to the park in order to reduce the cars on Beach Blvd and avoid sitting in Haunt traffic.
  16. The ride is open up to an hour after the park closes, I'm guessing depending on the crowd that's around. I stayed until 6:45 for my last ride and I was the only GP around, so I rode with a bunch of employees. Buncha really cool people! Now that I have my pass I may go back closer to when the ride is closing to say my good byes
  17. ...Colossus is open all day(at least it was when I visited)... I could be wrong, but when I went last year Colossus didn't open until 7pm with the rest of the Fright Fest activities. Is that a Knex model of Flashback in your avatar? That's so cool! BTW the park was DEAD today just like you all said, and in 4 hours I got on Superman, Terminator, Riddlers, Batman, X2, Tatsu and ERT on Deja Vu an hour after the park closed! 4 times and my stomach started to be twisted in knots but it was fun anyway! Also, they're selling 2012 passes now, so you get into the park for the rest of 2011 too, almost 16 months for $62 bucks can't lose. This is the earliest I remember them selling next years passes already. Great day at the park and I can't wait for Lex Luther it's gonna be crazy!
  18. I'm going to be going to the park for the first time in a while and was going to go tomorrow but instead will be going Sunday. Does anyone know how the crowds have been on Sundays and if I will need to buy a Flashpass? I read a couple pages back that someone got on every ride a Sunday or 2 ago with minimal waits, do any of you think that's a possibility this weekend?
