  4. The 3D cinema Maxxima is no more. It’s been torn down in order to make room for the new station we plan to build for Helix. We had a camera in place during the demolition and here’s a short timelaps film with images from the camera. Source: http://projekthelix.se/en/maxxima-is-no-more/#.UWS3G6LYifU
  5. The train WRITTEN BY LARS-ERIK HEDIN ON APRIL 9, 2013. POSTED IN HELIX BLOGG Our designers now have an idea of how the Helix train might look. The design is inspired by our Helix mind map – an images we have had with us from the start of the project, with bits an pieces that we felt might work well in the project. This is how the mind map currently looks: Some of the parts in the mind map we haven’t yet used and some have been used over and over again. The train has gotten it’s shape from spines as principal – whether its human, snake or even the stem of a leaf and down to its veins. We have had a biomimetic reference with us throughout the project. We are rather happy with it… Source: http://projekthelix.se/en/the-train/#.UWS2eKLYifU
  6. L.A Times wrote this about the new attraction: A new motion simulator-based dark ride that tells the story of Norse gods and mythical monsters with 3-D scenes and special effects is set to debut at a Norwegian theme park this summer. Photos: Thor's Hammer dark ride at Norway's Tusenfryd Drawing on Nordic mythology, the $8.5-million Thor's Hammer dark ride will open in May at Tusenfryd, a Parques Reunidos theme park located in Oslo, Norway. Code-named Prosjekt Mjolner, the new four-minute dark ride will feature interactive elements, fire and wind special effects and 3-D computer-generated imagery projected on 10 movie screens. Set at the time of the Norse gods, Thor’s hammer (known as Mjolner) has been stolen by the evil god Loki. Riders are sent on a mission to catch Loki and recover the hammer. Traveling through a forest, river, cave, castle and the battle of Ragnarok, riders will encounter scenes of Loki as a wolf, a sea serpent and a dragon. Dutch design firm P&P Projects describes Thor's Hammer as an "action movie brought to life," comparing the ride experience to the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man at Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park in Orlando, Fla. Thor's Hammer is expected to feature the newest dark ride vehicle from ETF Ride Systems, a rolling, pitching and rotating trackless motion simulator presented at the 2012 International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Expo in Orlando. Designed for teens and young adults, the "thrilling and scary" Thor's Hammer will reuse the cave-like Toktet dark ride building that has stood idle for several years. http://touch.latimes.com/#section/-1/article/p2p-75109087/

  8. Here is some news from Project Helix. I translated the blog article from Project Helix official page: During the last month Liseberg has worked with designers and architects to produce a working draft of the Helix station building. It has taken time, but now we are in goal. That it has taken time is not surprising because it is not an easy building to draw. It will live up to so many requirements and housing many special features. Moreover the design should fit Project Helix. As the drawings look now the Helix station is an extension to Liseberg Tower. The entrance is from the Liseberg Tower and a twisty que leads from the entrance to the station platform. The building will have several functions, but the basic function is that it should serve as a station for Helix. From here starts the trains and here they come back a few minutes later, here's the attractions host have their control room and the storage to the trains when not in use. An interesting detail worth noting is that the Helix, unlike many other roller coasters, do not start the journey with a lifthill. Helix, thanks to the station's position on top of the Liseberghill, has a potential energy that we use to instead start the trip with a downhill. Some fans have pointed out that the escalator we take to go up to the Liseberg Tower, in a sense becomes Helix "lifthill" - a bit of fun thought ... In addition to the basic functions the station must have to function as a station, it will also serve as the waiting room for those who want to go on it, it should have a smart system for managing queues. Moreover, we have tried to make the space interesting and exciting for those waiting in line. They often talk about "pre-show room" in this context - a field that will prepare travelers and set a good mood for the ride. We hope that the station we are about to start building will meet all of these needs in a good way ... / Lars-Erik And so a small photo collage of computer animation and photo on our building model.
